Round of 16 | Switzerland vs Italy | Germany vs Denmark

That handball decision is a lesson to every defender to get a manicure right before the game.

A new low for football that whole pathetic sequence of events. Where’s the check to show havertz coming to a complete stop on his run up?

A player can stop and start during their run-up to the ball. A player must not stop or feint (pretend to kick the ball) at the end of their run-up – they must kick it immediately.

It is not forbidden to stop during the run-up to a penalty. I didn’t know that either, but it had been discussed already after Lewandowskis shenanigans in the group stage against Maignan who later mocked the rule on social media.

The handball rules are so fecking dumb. Less than a meter away and a cross and they want players to have their hands behind their back at all times. Handball was never meant to be called like that before VAR…

This shit is ruining so many games…

While we're moaning about rules, they need to ditch the 2 yellows = miss the next game rule in tournaments.

A card happy twat like Oliver can completely spoil the next round.

When the bosnian comentator says Oliver is losing his marbles, you know its bad. We have probably most corupt referees on earth.

Sick touch to get there, then the finish ee all expected. Good foul from the dane I suppose, can't give a red for that

Once again, the great Michael Oliver managing to take Center stage and make this match about him.

God I hate him.

Genuinely feel for the people who think VAR is improving the sport. Someone who hasn’t a history with the game will be watching this and think what the heck is this shit and move on.

I agree. The emotion of the game is what makes it great. They’ve killed that for the most important part of the game…:goals.

I believe in technology being used for the betterment of the game, but not purely for the accuracy of decisions. Because some decisions will always be subjective.

- I get behind goal line technology because it’s almost instant.
- I would get behind an almost instant offside technology.
- The rest of it is bollocks. I’m not against a penalty decision being reviewed once it’s been given, but the endless review of goals, meaning you can’t even celebrate, is fecking ridiculous. It’s something for the YouTube generation who only watch in short highlights anyway.
It seems so obvious, doesn’t it? Has to be a revolt against the current implementation of VAR soon. It’s just so fecking shit.

I’ll be honest, if that penalty decision happens for United I’d probably be claiming it tbh

The English refs AGAIN have fecked up the game with their inability to use VAR.
It makes me laugh that people think this would be any different under other refs.

The refs don't decide the handball law. You see far more of these pens given in CL/Europa than the premier league, soft handball pens are more of a European issue than it is English refs.
