Looked about as pissed off as I can recall when he didn't come on yesterday. I for was glad as I thought he could drive at our midfield. But it wasn't to be.

Is he all that anymore? Would he benefit from a move?

Massively overrated, in my opinion. Shouldn't be anywhere near a top 4 side or the england side, for that matter.

I personally don't really rate him all that highly, but in regards to the topic Koeman has criticised him publicly on a couple of occasions I believe.

I rated him highly coming through, but his form has been pretty poor for a good long while now. Needs to get it together.

Stuck in the Dele Alli area of not being technically good enough to play 10 to the highest level but not anywhere near defensively aware enough to play 8 and assume a box to box role.

Massively overrated by the English media just like Jack Wilshere was/is. Shows a flash of class once every 10 matches and is praised as the next big thing.

Because of Everton financial power it won't happen but he is typically the type of player that should leave England, he is 23 years old that's young enough to reinvent himself but he will have to be coached by a manager like Sampaoli, Favre, Simeone and others. In England, he will be kept in the box he is currently stuck in.

So, like an English Pogba.

Yes, Ross Barkley is exactly like Pogba.
He...kind of is when you think about it. Doesn't score many, doesn't assist many, isn't a midfielder who controls a game and dictates the tempo like a Modric/Kroos/Fabregas. They're both best at using their extreme athleticism and power to surge forward and attack.

They're very similar.

Sure sure.

Funny how Pogba has created more chances for Utd. It's hardly hiss fault our conversion rate is so poor

Don't agree with most on here, he's a player I've always liked, and one I'd happily see us buy, reckon under the right manager he easily has the ability to make it at a top club.

He has completed more passes and created more chances then any other United player this season. Also Fabregas is a busted flush and no longer worthy of comparisons with Kroos and Modric.

I should've been clear. Pogba is obviously the superior player. I'm just saying that their styles are similar.

Conversely, Barkley scored 12 and assisted 11 last season so saying he doesn't score or assist many isn't really true. Hell he even has 3 goals, 1 assist to Pogba's 4 goals 1 assist this season in 500 less minutes. Actually creates more chances per minute too.

I do think he needed a move to a team where he would have been playing every week to develop. Hes 23 but it seems like his progress has stagnated (I dont think the Martinez season last season helped him or Stones or most in that team).

Do think he needs better coaching and I did think that would be Koeman.

Yeah. By the way, who had most assists in last year's Serie A?

Barkley is technically very good actually, it's just he has a potato brain.

Talking about now. Didn't Pogba just record his first assist last week?

You just like being smug- top of the league and all that

Can you stick to the topic or at least try?

So, like an English Pogba.

Just as Hart is the English DDG and Gaz was the English Javier Zanetti only to become the English Pep in terms of management.

Genuinely not smug at all. Too humbled by last season.

I'm not the one who started the Pogba/Barkley comparison.

Are we actually comparing Pogba to Barkley?

He has the skills but his mentality is not right yet. He still needs to mature which isnt a big surprise but maybe its taking longer than expected. Still a good bet for someone to gamble on if Everton are willing to be realistic, but they probably aren't.

Barkley is technically outstanding, actually. It's upstairs he's found wanting.

There's a really good player in there, but I'm not sure we'll see it at Everton.

I've not seen it myself. Or rather I should say that for me good technique implies a consistency, a lot of things seem to come off for Barkley in spite of him ... not because of him.
