Rooney Charged: Faces Two Match Ban for cursing | Appeal lost

Could he be banned?

Nah this is all media bollocks. If the FA ban Rooney for this United will cause absolute uproar and send about 40 DVD's a week full of other players doing exactly the same thing and ask why they've not been banned.

The position of the camera from a players face should not be the deciding factor.

West Ham United v Manchester United: live - Telegraph

read what he says after the 3rd goal. for god sake, i know it shouldnt but shit like this week in week out makes winning so much more satisfying, i honestly think 19 would be the best of them all

Poor little Thom Gibbs. Here's an earlier comment proving neutrality is not dead in sports journalism.

Michael Davidson writes: "Lets hope West Ham continue to haunt United as their ‘bogey’ team." He also provided me with the cricket score. What a gent.

I wouldn't be here if it weren't were I was from ;)

Came back in January, ready to do some work rather than study... moving to a place in Ørsta 'round May. You familiar with V-dale?

I'm very familiar with the area as I've got a bit of family in Volda and Sæbø and apparently went to Folkehøyskole in Ørsta, thought it's all a bit hazy, wink, wink. I absolutely love it up there, especially Sæbø in summer, and if I'm able to find the time I'm probably going for Easter. I'll bring my skis and board while secretly hoping the weather will be more fit for beers and fishing. You're a lucky guy to be surrounded by the fjords and mountains on a daily basis.

From what I could hear, Rooney actually said "was that a hat-trick? Oh jolly good."

However the ABU editors at Sky Sports overdubbed it with an actor's voice.

Ridiculous reaction. Very very british press, How can Robbie Savage be on his high horse about setting an example on the pitch, On another point I've known the word feck since I was about 7, I've probably said it since then too and I've heard people say it since then. I wasnt telling parents and teachers to feck off because I had to do my homework, Point is you know what your meant to do and what you arent and seeing a footballer do this doesnt change a thing.

Snow doth come and go, I reckon it'll be mostly bare by Easter.

If you ever need a mate while around town, I'm always up for shootin' the shit with a fellow Junaitiid-fæn. ;)

The media are on this like a whore in heat and after elbowgate I wouldn't be at all surprised if the FA give him a 3 game ban.

Kelvin MacKenzie on 5Live wants him banned for being disgusting.

Saying the word feck on tv: a disgrace.
Pioneering "topless darts", framing Liverpool fans the deaths of nearly a hundred of their own and assisting in the cover-up of what arguably amounts to mass murder: perfectly reasonable.

It's absolutely mind-blowing that that man is still allowed to make money as a public figure. Indeed, that shocking lack of decency on the part of the media is much more of an indication of moral bankruptcy in our society than some mild swearing could ever be. The fact that he is paid money by the BBC to provide his opinions despite being one of the most disgusting public figures in recent British history rather makes a mockery of the corporation's ridiculous campaign against Wayne Rooney's supposed 'indecency.'

Well, I'm pretty sure in the pantheon of evils that reactionaries such as Mackenzie (and apparently a majority of the staff on BBC radio) view as destroying our nation's moral compass and corrupting our innocent youth, the naked female breast ranks above swearing.

Exactly, I called some kid a cnut when I was 4. I called him a fecker when I turned 5. Then, I beat up him and his sisters.

MoTD didnt even bother turning down the sound for that bit.
Nothing incident

606 was ridiculous. In all seriousness how the hell is this anything new to anybody. You probably see players saying the word feck about twice a game, every game. Absolute mongaloids.

Glad to see MoTD didn't take the lazy road. Nothing incident.

Why have 606 got Mike Parry on? Why? He's a fecking idiot who should have stayed on talksport. Last time he was on he was crapping on about how the FA Cup should be seeded to knock the little teams out. I really (really really) hope that Chapman/Fletcher were busy elsewhere yesterday, as opposed to this being the norm from now on

606 was embarrassing for humankind, had to turn it off after they cut off the only caller talking sense.

On second thought this all might be a good thing. Without it we'd have the media with "the league is in the bag" or "only United can throw it away now" stuff which I doubt would be constructive to our mindset.

The firsth thing on Sunday Supplement is not on his hattrick, but his swearing....they just love talking shite about us.

What I don't understand is when footballers officially become "role models"? Is it when they are in school themselves, when they join an academy, when they play their first full team match or when they make their England debuts? What are the details of the contract, and what behaviour does it forbid? Do they get extra for this role-modeling work?

Why the hell do people in the media and the public in general think that the likes of Rooney should be role models for their kids? They are footballers, they never asked for the responsibility of setting an example to the nation's children, they are there because they are good at playing football, nothing more. If you want to defer the task of teaching your offspring good behaviour to a footballer or celebrity then more fool you.

It was an absolute joke, teachers emailing saying "well i would get sacked if i said these things to my pupils"......well of course you fecking would, your a teacher! Last time i looked rooney was paid to play football and not educate children...geeze, it was infuriating.

This whole thing is just bizarre, I want to laugh but it's just annoying how even more fecking pathetic the media has become.

The firsth thing on Sunday Supplement is not on his hattrick, but his swearing....they just love talking shite about us.

The last thing on Sunday Supplement was, following predictions of the United - Chelsea tie, a final quip of "...by which time, Rooney may have been charged!"

Of course, it'd be the same if it was any other player though...

My sensibilities are horribly offended!

I woke up whimpering from a nightmare about someone saying 'feck'.

And I didn't even hear it.

I assume they're going to start ejecting fans from stadiums for swearing too, I mean there are children present. Won't someone please think of them.

To be fair this is just the latest in a long line of cases where it's a story totally drummed up by the media. The sad thing is I won't be' surprised if the FA base their position on the media frenzy rather than the actual incident.

Kelvin MacKenzie on 5Live wants him banned for being disgusting.
The same Kelvin MacKenzie who was editor if The Sun for all those years.
Grow up.

Who the feck takes this clown seriously? This is the same piece of human shit that lauded the death of over 300 Argentine sailors on the Belgrano and 96 Liverpool fans at Hillsborough. feck him.
