Rooney Charged: Faces Two Match Ban for cursing | Appeal lost

Its not really about being uptight about swearing? I know why they do it United are hated its easy to hate on united with this sort of crap as everyone will just agree with it even if its wrong.

Hope you guys are sitting down, here's some sense from a journo...

Can't believe Rooney's being slaughtered for swearing. How anaemic & sanitised is English football becoming?

The media must enjoy Rooney doing this given his previous.

It's not like the lad found the camera and started shouting expletives to viewers at home ala Drogba he was giving some back to the crowd who were abusing him. It's a weekly occurence that you hear expletives and offensive things picked up over TV audio equipment.

So I just turned on 606 for ten minutes and the whole thing was about Wayne Rooney saying the word feck.

This is getting beyond embarrassing.

Does he have 'previous'? Because that seems unusually sensitive.

It is the British media who are telling us that it is unacceptable in 'our' (ie British) society... and British people who are commenting in a 'holier than thou' manner in and to the media.

I believe so, and he wouldn't be the only one on here sadly

It's nothing to do with 'British'. It's to do with United, and not United

I don't think any society particularly finds it acceptable to broadcast language like that before the watershed when kids are watching, Sky apologised for it at the time. Rooney apologised for it after. Banging the drum for him being banned, for the rest of the season even... nothing to do with nationality so why claim it is?

If you thought that was bad, should have heard what I was shouting!

Even RedCafe favourite Ollie Holt think its an overreaction looking around most of the Journo's on twitter are saying this.

It wasn't the brightest thing to do, I mean I've never seen anyone do it before but the overreaction is magnified because it's Rooney, such is the life of being at the top.

Really? I've not seen much online reaction, just what's been posted in here mainly. Fair play if so.

Listening to Talksport right now

Absolutely mental stuff this.

I personally haven't yet recovered from the horrific episode.

We know the media will talk shite but swearing happens. It happens if you go to academy/reserve games/if you watch on mutv, you hear the odd swear word now and then. I think we know the overreaction to it is more to do with their jealousy and frustration then the act itself which really was a release of pressure. People go on about his wages, but I don't think his reaction was alien to any of us despirate to get the points to day.

Sigh, so ridiculous. The annoying this is, as soon as it happened I knew he'd get get some bad attention for it, cause he's Englands best player, therefore he has to.

It's sad that a stunning, likely Premiership winning hat-trick from the best player across the UK will get overshadowed by this bollocks.

Daily Mail : Rooney's DISGRACE.

What the hell!? He abuses all the time and now because he scored a hat trick it's a disgrace?

the mail running two "shockers":

"How did Vidic stay on the pitch" and "Rooney disgrace". The fact that we stormed to a brilliant comeback with an excellent display to make the title look pretty likely is besides the point. Or actually is the point - that pisses them off

have it - cockney loving twats

just don't click on their feeds

Good point. When did you move to Vartdal, mate, or are you from there?

I wouldn't be here if it weren't were I was from ;)

Came back in January, ready to do some work rather than study... moving to a place in Ørsta 'round May. You familiar with V-dale?

I'd be surprised if any of the newspapers leading with this get into a Manchester United press conference again this season. it just seems desperate, really.

We see Sir Alex cursing like a trooper ever week in a HD close up. Indeed, we see every player doing it all the time. It doesn't become more of an offense if a camera is 4 feet or 14 feet away.

I'm hopeful that the FA will just 'warn' him as to his future behavior and leave it at that. Else they'll have to charge about 200 people a week for swearing on the television.
