Rooney and Carrick leading crisis talks...

Carrick shouldn't be at the club anymore? What fresh hell is this? Carrick is a good player. United still like to have good players, right?

Or are we still in the mode that everyone is shit because we haven't won in a while?

I think if you put pirlo or Xavi in our current setup, they would struggle as well. Carrick hasn't had the setup that they have had , especially in his latter years IMO.
You're right.

We've done his talent a massive disservice by pairing him with likes of Cleverley, Fellaini and aging Scholes and Giggs. If he had the legs of Vidal and Pogba next to him, the perception of him would be very different.

My judgement of him is not solely based on that in the current set-up. He just isn't close to those players whether in terms of ability or performances over his or their careers. Thing with Carrick is, that he either gets underrated or overrated by United fans. He's either crap, or as good as the best, when the truth is that he's never barring the odd spell been a top top player like the ones mentioned earlier, but still a very good one.

If Carrick leads a crisis talk I'd expect it to be about having a crisis not resolving one.

I agree Carrick's always been underrated, but you're massively overrating him here. A tier below Pirlo would still be an Alonso, Schweinstiger, or Busquets who were/are arguably world-class at their peak. Carrick is not that level.

If that's true I wouldn't blame Van Gaal for struggling to keep a straight face.

Rooney bitching at him would be like an emotional teenager yelling at a war veteran.

Interesting how the assumption is they went to him, rather than LVG asked them to come to him. Also, the topic is crisis or amount of training rather than on confidence, belief, turnaround ...etc.

I would expect any experienced manager or coach to have meetings with his captain, vice captain and staff.

United lose a couple on the trot so "players have crisis meeting' shocker.

Although I absolutely detest our captain (ffs) at this point, I'm glad this is happening, if it is, but what I'd really like is open mutiny. Going out onto the pitch and ignoring the "philosophy" completely. He can't sub all of them.

These two are not leadership material. Said it before.. but they're a big reason for why we continue to fail and a reason why our mentality as a club is so fecked.

I think having such low standards for their own game really affects their status as leaders.

Rooney on the field looks more like a whinging child than an authoritative leader. The only time you see him handing out bollockings is when someone does something that affects him. If they leave him isolated defending, play a poor pass to him or miss a chance to pass to him.
