Apparently they're the ones trying to have words with LVG about changing tactics etc.

This is a sign of how far the club has fallen.. These two in an ideal world shouldn't even be at this club. How can anyone take Wayne Rooney seriously when he is a big part of the problem?

We need the players to revolt and tell LVG .. Rooney shouldn't be starting, instead our worst player is made King and allowed to call the shots.

Seriously what is going on at this beloved club at ours.. from one of the worlds greatest run sporting institutions it has become a comedy club which stinks of decay and where false idols and kings rule the roost.

No way this would be happening under peak Fergie... he was such a good decision maker. We're being run by frauds at the moment.

This is a good time to add a source, or is this just Twitter talk?

They can both get bent. They're part of the problem.

Rooney was so bad on Saturday all I could do was laugh by the end of the game.

If Van Gaal has the guts to drop him on Saturday I'd be more optimistic about LVG's future prospects... Can't see it happening though.

Rooney should just name himself interim manager and buy Özil.

Raees you are over reacting.

I don't mean to appear vengeful and harsh, but Rooney does need putting in place at Manchester United. He's become this "face" and "best leader eva" at the club, whilst being one of our worst players. Grow a pair, Ed, and do what is necessary. He's been a fantastic player for us, and I'm grateful, but it's time to do the right thing.

How can Rooney have any credibility?

LVG earlier in November

‘He is our captain but also an example for the whole team,’ he said. ‘He has more credits than any other player. I have explained that to the group already one-and-a-half years ago. I have still confidence in Wayne Rooney.’

Rooney and Carrick are the senior most players in the team. It isn't really a surprise.

If this is true, and that's a big if, then it shows the players don't completely buy into the philosophy. If they're asking for a compromise in terms of style of play, that is.

My first thoughts as well but I edited my post and found the link it's from the daily mail but it's no where near as bad a it's been made out to be. To summarize the players talked to Van Gaal and both agree to change the training methods. It's actually a positive story.

This place really has shat it's pants over the last week.

It's all Rooney's fault. Everything is.
It's not but he sort of epitomizes our problems and himself is one huge problem for the football club.

I don't mind LVG making changes to the team's style to be honest. In fact it's time he does it. But at the same time players like Rooney shouldn't really be part of our long-term plans,

If he doesn't compromise then I worry about what sort if performances we will get over the Christmas period and I was already worried.

He's the captain, if the players wanted to put their point across then it would have to involve the captain. No surprise.

He's our worst player. Didn't you know that?

Literally the worst one. All mistakes anyone else has made this season and ever can be traced back to him.
He actually is.

But this is a good thing if it leads to us playing better football, of course. LVG changed his style of play at AZ and won the title and he should have done that here sometime ago.

Yep, it would be clear evidence of a disconnect between the players and manager. One of them needs to change, you can't have both on different pages.

That's true. I don't actually think there's anything wrong with this. We have a much larger problem of making Rooney Mr. Manhcester United which I, and I'm sure many others, are afraid that the club won't be able to make the hard but correct decision on.

Actually, come to think of it, didn't we actually change our playing style against Wolfsburg and a few other games which resulted in some relatively exciting attacking football but a complete lack of organisation from our unit? Pretty sure we did do that, and it at times so haphazard that I wanted us to revert to the slow paced possession.

Rooney and Carrick aren't to blame here. They're the most senior players, their words will carry more weight. If Rojo for example wanted to voice concern, it would make far more sense to do so via the captain and vice captain.

It's actually a positive story.

Positive how? Team selection is a huge issue and our senior players are at the heart of the problem.

They're the ones who will make it out that the training and tactics are an issue when they themselves are not good enough and need to call it a day. Van Gaal should have had the foresight to make sure his senior players, his lieutenants were bona fide first team members who can set an example.

It is extremely poor management by him to have someone like Rooney as his counsel. He isn't going to raise the issue of how he is a major hindrance to our attack is he.

If LVG is smart he'll take it on-board if he feels it's the right thing to do and give Rooney the treatment his performances deserve.

Although, like I said in my previous post, LVG did change things up earlier already and the players failed to deliver.

Good, it's about time they discussed Rooney's form.

Seriously though... Carrick? Leading a crisis talk? What next? Juan Mata being a disruptive dressing room influence?

They are captain and vice-captain, respectively. Of course they are the ones to pass the other players concerns along to the manager.

Jesus, people will freak out over absolutely anything. Embarrassing, really.

He's not though is he?

I'm not saying he should play, but hes not our worst player.

You could bring Pep and Jose in as a double team, but play Rooney, Mata and Carrick ... We'd struggle regardless. The top teams all have a core of influential senior players who can dictate to the boss... difference is they all can cut it on the pitch. Scholes and Giggs had similar powers under SAF but we had a core of leaders who could hack it on the pitch including Rio, VDS, Evra, Vidic.. as well as leaders in the football sense in Ronaldo and Rooney.. even Tevez. Team full of strong minded influential players who could back it with their performances on the pitch.

It is extremely worrying that our worst players are the most senior players and they're the ones who have the manager wrapped around their little fingers. Its destined for failure and I can't see anyway back for Van Gaal. His decision making on this front has been shocking and his sacking is inevitable regardless of any changes he makes to training and tactics.

LvGs biggest failing is his shoddy team selections and alienating the wrong players.

He's been our worst player in a majority of the games he's played. Seriously, though, out of our regular starters who has been our worst player? Leaving Rooney and Memphis' padding up of statistics against the terrible Club Brugge, the pair of them have been the only really dreadful performers, haven't they? One of them is 21 years old.

Carrick is still our best midfielder. Our best passer and best option to start our attacks.

Saying he is terrible clearly shows how blinded with hate this forum really is. He will play til 40 because he is so good.

His European pedigree is up there with Pirlo and Alonso.

I've been patience and defensive of LVG but when Bouremouth can play football that is fun to watch we should at least be playing better football than "dull and dreary" which is what we've been doing this season going forward.

I agree with the bolded bit though. If LVG's career ends here I will put his United-downfall mostly down to his assessment of our attack in the summer of 2015. He put a lot of faith in Rooney and co delivering and it's costing him big time.

No it's not. That's an insult to Pirlo.

Unless we are looking a two different stories(I'm using the article in the Mail)it a positive story well ok semi positive.....well not really semi positive, more of a John Mcclane Christmas Eve positivity.

Here some of it(Assuming the story is true in the first place although the small detail it's goes into makes me doubt it).
''this week's clear-the-air talks resulted in players and management reaching an agreement to work together in an attempt to get United's season back on track.
Van Gaal is understood to have encouraged the dialogue between players and management after dressing-room morale sank to an all-time low under his leadership.''

It's hardly a ''comedy club which stinks of decay and where false idols and kings rule the roost'' all that happen was the players and the manager had a bit of a talk. We haven't even hit flying boots to players heads stage yet.

Too many daily mail readers on here.
Their sports section is kinda ok.........:nervous:

No it's not. That's an insult to Pirlo.

1 CL and 2 finals and 1 semi. Some playing with only one partner. And besides Scholes never had someone like Gattuso or Seedorf or Modric etc.

People forget we were the European elite for half a decade and Carrick started every game.

None of which changes that he's simply a lesser footballer than the likes of Pirlo and Scholes. Quite comfortably too.

Judging a player simply by trophies is always misleading.

Fat Ronaldo's club's achievements are nothing special but he's an all-time great.
