Ronaldo | Refused to come on as sub, left OT | Axed from squad for Chelsea & fined 2 weeks wages

Ronaldo wants to eat his cake and have it. Why should his wage be an issue if he's desperate to leave us? Does he expect us to pay him?

Yep, subsidize 80% of his wages or something so a club like Sporting can afford him.

Correct decision from ETH. It is unfortunate that Ronaldo behaves like this.

The silver lining in all that is it gives ETH the opportunity to show to everyone who is the boss here!
Agree. Absolutely the right decision and ETH stamps his authority decisively.

Cristiano is a legend, but the MLS beckons for him. No CL level team in Europe can have a distraction like him running around.

Strolling off a few mins early once all subs have been used, not ideal, but no real biggie.

Refusing to come on? Huge issue.

6 more games before the world cup, and then a few days before the January window.
It might have to be a time to part ways, as much as I'll always love him as a player.

But the new era is upon us, and there's signs it looks pretty brilliant.
All subs haven't been used though.

Of course he does. Fans often think players who are already multi millionaires will forego some income in order to facilitate a move away. Never happens that way. Like, ever. The club will pay out in some sort of settlement between him and his team to facilitate a move in January.

Imagine a 38 years old acting like a crybaby like this. You will think people grow up with age or something.

Get rid asap. In terms of his legacy, I’ll remember that explosion of talent in 2006-2007 (when, for those of us who didn’t see George Best, he was the most exciting player you’d ever seen at OT) rather than the fat Elvis in Vegas version. One last idiotic decision by Woodward.

I hope the club supports ETH with enough funds to sign 2-3 players in the january window....and that we simply allow Ronaldo to leave on a free.

As much as I loved the old Ronaldo - I dont want him here anymore

Let's all take a deep breath.

Ronaldo crossed a line. No two ways around that. But let's not act like he is the first United player to do so, here is one club legend who also crossed a line...

Scholes

Now, if Ronaldo wants back he needs to beg forgiveness. If not then we need to move on.

We were too dynamic last night and if a 37 year old Ronaldo can't see that I am sorry for him. Amazing player but not without flaws and as any long time fan knows time waits for no man... or player.

Didn't he leave Real Madrid because they wouldn't cover his tax fraud bill. Either way, he's a piece of shit.

If its true he refused to come on as sub then best thing to do was drop him from Saturday . Club puts out a statement which was good this tells me not crap is being taken by this manager. Ronny is a legend and always will be imo he will issue some response and I'm hoping its beneficial to the club not himself, its a storm in a tea cup realy. ETH needs to be backed and by dropping him he's showing his authority, and we've seen how some of these players can throw a manager under the bus.

Will he be fined by the club for his actions? I can't wait until he is gone and we can get back to focusing on being a together football club instead of constant circus with press questions dominated by the ronaldo show

Anyway back from this? Putting aside the emotional response of 'feck him' would an apology to the club suffice? Any other club looking at him now knows he's not as good as he used to be, has astronomical wages and can cause issues in the dressing room. It's hard to see where he goes from here.

It's all 100% on Ronaldo and there should be no excuses for his c*ntish behaviour but even though he brought it on himself it's all a bit sad really to see such a great player fall so badly. As others have mentioned he'd do well to copy Zlatan and realise he's not 28 anymore.

So he refused to come on? Even worse then. Good on ETH and the club to ban him for Chelsea.

All subs haven't been used though.

Ah I'd missed that. Thought we had done.

I wonder if the truth is that he specifically said no to coming on, or whether it was the walking off part that in effect made that statement.

Ten Hag has managed this brilliantly. Cristiano can feck off; his return has been one huge, self-indulgent mistake

Actually really sad this.

It's clear to see that Antony, Bruno, Casemiro, Dalot and some other players really think highly of him.

They could have benefited from him being a true professional, and a role model.

Hopefully, they're all adults and realize that Erik has things under control.

If it was any other then Ten Hag, i would have been worried by the outcome.
I totally agree with this. Watching Ronaldo this season it's been getting increasingly hard to argue bad form, he's clearly past his best. But it didn't need to go this way, players like the ones you have mentioned, Elanga, Garnacho, and I am sure many others love Ronaldo and speak highly of working with him. What a bonus it should be to have him mentor these players, instead it's the complete opposite.

Yup. Look how Ibra took to the mentorship role at Milan. Instead, Ronaldo is so far up his own ass that he can't accept his own decline.

Scholes was in his 20s then (and hadn’t already left the club once). The current version of Ronaldo would struggle to get a game for Nottingham Forest.

The whole team could have. IF he was either of those things this season. But alas, here we are.

Let him rot with the reserves until he finds himself a club and not a single penny should come out from the club to cover his salary once he gets his move. Time to stamp out this player power once and for all and that would be the best example to set for everyone that not even being Cristiano can save you.

Didn't he leave Real Madrid because they wouldn't cover his tax fraud bill. Either way, he's a piece of shit.

He expected them to leverage their political connections to help him with the tax issue and he also demanded a long term deal and pay bump after their 3peat.

Real Madrid under Perez simply don't entertain signing players 30 and up and the ones in the squad who are are always given rolling 1 year deals no matter how established they are and its worked out quite well for them. You have other Ballon D'Or winners who gladly accept their way of doing business.

He decided to leave after they refused to indulge him, likely the first time a club had ever refused his demands which explains ending up at Juventus instead of staying with the best team in the world at the time (sounds familiar).

Should have let him go in the summer.
Let him go now.
I would rather see a young lad who wanted to play for us on the bench.
It’s clear now that bringing him back was a huge mistake.

No wonder last season was so shit when our two biggest dressing room influences were Ronaldo and Maguire.

I don't even get what he's sulking about. I could at least understand the petulance if there was a reason for it, but It's not even like the club have forced him to stay. It's just that no one else will pay him half a million a week qnd he obviously wasn't prepared to take a big enough pay cut.

Imagine going into work and refusing to do your job on the grounds that you are paid too much to want to leave. How would you even explain this without sounding like a maniac?

He can't complain about not being picked either. He missed out at the start of the season because he chose not to get himself ready in time, then he did get picked, and then got dropped after we scored 1 goal in two games with him in the side not really contributing anything. Ten Hag doesn't keep people in the team on reputation or for the sake of it, or apply favouritism. That's already completely obvious, and is also somewhere in chapter 1 of "how to not be a shite manager"

Happy if Ten Hag just freezes him out now even if it costs us in terms of squad depth. More important to get the mentality and discipline of the team in order than it is to worry about individuals. Same thing pep did when he came in at city. Meant a rocky first season but meant the team was in the right place after that.

It was clear from day 1. And we would have let him go but who wanted him? Most teams (also publicly) said no

While he was at OT. Wayne Rooney was my best player. Without Manutd fan base and commercialization, he would have been like a Brazilian denilson. Ronaldo played in a team that was working it's socks off for him and he now thinks he is bigger than the club.

This is the perfect opportunity to cut ties.. I hope someone comes in for him in Jan.. Just dont play him.. Force him out.. we have to be ruthless..

Big John Murtough is already hinting that there will be no business done in the winter.

Totally agree with this decision. Depending how fit Martial and Rashford are over coming weeks, I could see him not playing for us again. Not great for a man heading to probably his last world cup, with no preseason, and barely any playing time in regular season.

Wow, i didn't expect that we (and ETH) will have balls to do this. Great stuff.
And why his salary would be a problem in january? It is up to him to lower salary or not play whole season at all.

Waiting on Rio, Roy and Pat to comment all this shit

Please don't bring scholesy and Ronaldo together in such a topic. Scholes is a manutd legend, Ronaldo is not
