I'll make an exception for Roy Keane. Give him a pre-season and he'll be raring to go.

On a serious note, Ronaldo's performing at the levels of Nicklas Bendtner, with an ego several times bigger. Will be glad to see the back of him.

I'd play him against Haaland, but that's it.

Greatest of all Time?...maybe

Greatest Teammate of all Time?...hell no!

He wouldn't even know the meaning of the word Team.

Delighted. If he does ever come back into the team (I hope we don’t need him again, he’s pretty terrible from a team play and overall morale standpoint)he needs to toe the line and muck in. Some chance of that happening though. Just mutually terminate his contract. We should have done that during the summer but maybe ETH wanted to take a good look, who really knows?
Do you really think Ronaldo was willing to terminate his contract ? If he was , he would be at another club already. But he wanted us to pay him to play for another club.

If we could get ride during the summer we would.

Hopefully the United mouthpieces I.e his mates, don't back him here. But who am I kidding?

You don't refuse to come on and go off on a strop. Doesn't matter who you are.

The ironic thing being that all his ex team mates in the media wouldn't tolerate it either.
They would have absolutely slated and dragged through the coals any other player if they did the same thing

Top of the table in mid-January and finished in 2nd 12 points behind. OGS choked away a league title. People will say we never had a chance but that's just cope from OGS supporters. To be top of the table in mid-Jan and then by April we were 10 points behind and the sad thing is Citeh actually dropped 5 points to us in the league and it didn't even matter.

100% on OGS being a clueless manager.
You don't finish second and third in the league being clueless. Average? Decent? Not quite good enough for United? Sure... shit or clueless? That's just a moronic thing to say.
Anyone who thinks Southgate isnt a shit manager for England is definitely challenged in understanding the game
I mean this is just factually nonsense and you're talking nonsense.

Trying to think about this as fairly as possible, if Hag had told him something like "you'll coming be on with 25 mins to go" and then ignored him until minute 89, he's kinda justified in being pissed off, right?

No manager is going to say that you are coming on for the last 25 mins or so in a crucial game.

What's his end goal here?
  • If he didn't want to come on to preserve his goal to appearance ratio or something, then he could just have feigned an injury in his warm up.
  • If he wanted to make it clear that he wants out...no shit Cristiano, but nobody wanted to sign you when they thought you were a decent pro, let alone now.
He has really fecked himself over here. He won't get games before the world Cup and he won't get an opportunity to put himself in the shop window for other clubs should he wish to leave in January. And the weirdest thing about this is that he was actually getting games (despite his appalling performances)! If Donny had done this, it would be a bit more understandable but Ronaldo was getting treated a lot better by EtH than he deserved and he's thrown it back in his face. He may have even started against Chelsea had he not pulled this shit. Idiot.
Start against Chelsea ? Do you think ETH is a fool ? No chance.

Is it possible to agree with him to terminate his contract? What happens then? Does the club owe him some money or how does it work? Because it would be great for both sides. We get rid of his wages and he is left to his own devices to sign as a free agent or do whatever.

Correct decision from ETH. It is unfortunate that Ronaldo behaves like this.

The silver lining in all that is it gives ETH the opportunity to show to everyone who is the boss here!

Why isn't he being bought out of his contract effective immediately? Offers nothing but needless drama at a time when we seem to be developing something special, just get him as far away from the club as possible now.

ETH has played it very well with Ronaldo all season. Tried to give him an opportunity at the start and even gave him some leeway after skipping pre season.

I'd suspect he might come back in some form if he apologies to his teammates (possibly publicly) but would expect Ronaldo to do refuse.

Actually really sad this.

It's clear to see that Antony, Bruno, Casemiro, Dalot and some other players really think highly of him.

They could have benefited from him being a true professional, and a role model.

Hopefully, they're all adults and realize that Erik has things under control.

If it was any other then Ten Hag, i would have been worried by the outcome.

It's indefensible at this point. Indefensible. He's a disgrace and should never wear a Manchester United shirt again. Whoever wants him should be free to take him. Nobody wanted him in the summer, he's damaged goods now and I fear we are stuck with him.

What a clown. There are no feasible excuses left, he's done this to himself. An incredible lack of self awareness.

If there's something positive to take from this, it's the signal it sends to the rest of the squad and future players.
There's no fecking about under Ten Hag.

I love it.

It depends on the terms of the termination.

Is it possible to agree? Yes.

Is it likely that Ronaldo agrees to forfeit future earnings? It was highly unlikely before today but the way ETH handled the situation could mean that Ronaldo may have to choose between watching games until the end of his contract or playing Football somewhere else.

What the feck is he thinking a few weeks away from the world Cup? Surely any game time is better than none.

Or maybe this is what he wants.

Rationalising Ronaldo's current behaviour is a futile exercise. There just isn't any -- as it was in the summer when he decided to skip pre-season to engineer a non-existent move away from us. I'm afraid he's completely lost the plot, not unlike Keane all those years ago. He's plainly refusing to accept that he isn't the player he once was and is throwing a strop for attention.

It's a sad situation all around.

Yea he needs to be suspended yesterday, that sort of primadonna selfish bullshit is exactly why no one around Europe wanted him. Added with the fact that he's losing it on the pitch

I kind of understood his frustration that he was left on the bench all game with the likes of Elanga getting on ahead of him.

But to hear he blank refused to come on? WTF is wrong with him

The world cup break can't come soon enough. Cya Cristiano.

To be fair no message has been sent. It's very rare for players to behave the way he did and the response is almost always the same.

Horrendous situation but all Ronaldo's doing.

I hope he's played his last game for us and they break the contract as soon as possible.

He may will be the greatest scorer of all time, but he's the only footballer in the world who has tried to spell team with an I for the entirety of his career. It was fine at his peak because he was so good, but when you lose your powers it's game over.

I'd imagine the club would cut ties immediately providing he agrees to waiver any compensation. But for some daft reason, the guy who chose to miss pre-season and disrespect his manager and teammates in the OT friendly, is the one who feels like he's in the right

Lift this cloud off Ten Hag asap. If Ronaldo goes and scores big goals for another club, so be it. Positive resolution for everyone!

To be fair the message "I don't give a flying feck about your name or status, you'll still be treated the same way as everyone else if you step out of line" has been sent.

Edit: No idea why I decided to bold your entire post though.

Sad end to his United career but he’s only got himself to blame. I didn’t want him back in the first place, but now he isn’t even scoring the goals to excuse his shitty behaviour.

He should go to Qatar, get used to the climate there early and prepare for the WC.

We could also get some money for that move.

Send him to the reserves, write off his salary and hope another club is stupid enough to get him in January. He should have played his last game for us

No he's not. If he was desperate to leave he'd have taken a pay cut and moved to a lower league. Literally all offers his agent was shopping him around for included us paying part of his salary. I'm pissed that people refuse to acknowledge this fact. There are no commercial reasons for keeping him. Its only that we're not willing to subsidize him to play for someone else.
This.
He could have gone to a ch lge club if he dropped his wages, but his massive ego wouldnt take it.

You put up with it with great players. Too bad Ronaldo is shite now.
This is actually important comment and very true :) It's one thing if he was pulling antiques while scoring ton of goals. He is out of form (or done) AND still wants to act like world's best striker? Meeeh

I suspect that EtH would have disciplined him even if CR7 was playing very well, because EtH has Sir Alex's iron in him (and Sir Alex kicked-out top form Beckham), but the point still stands.

One more thing left is to keep him away from main squad (including training).

Don't think there's coming back from this tbh nor is there will from the player to walk things back, I think it's over truly.

Unceremoniously yes but probably for the better

Ronaldo wants to eat his cake and have it. Why should his wage be an issue if he's desperate to leave us? Does he expect us to pay him?

Strolling off a few mins early once all subs have been used, not ideal, but no real biggie.

Refusing to come on? Huge issue.

6 more games before the world cup, and then a few days before the January window.
It might have to be a time to part ways, as much as I'll always love him as a player.

But the new era is upon us, and there's signs it looks pretty brilliant.
