Ronaldo | Refused to come on as sub, left OT | Axed from squad for Chelsea & fined 2 weeks wages

I never thought that Ronaldo coming back to United, something that I’d wished for since the day he left, would be the thing that made me believe that Messi is the greatest of all time. But here we are.

Hope he's booed if he plays again in a United shirt. Has done feck all this season, and thinks he's got a divine right to start.

If anything this gives ETH some sympathy and a chance to boot him from the squad if he wants to.

It’s frustrating this is apparently an important ‘story’ and distracting from a very good team performance. Ronaldo is a lone wolf, always has been, it’s why he was so good but he can’t stop time. Get him out on Jan anywhere, even on loan, the guy can’t be allowed to undermine the club.

It's so annoying that the stories are about this and not the great performance last night, but I'm not surprised. It's Ronaldo. Everything he does is analysed to death.

Really poor stuff from him though. It's a dick move to be honest like, just get yourself. Not that we really can afford to drop strikers from the squad right now, but I do not think he can be involved at all at the weekend after that nonsense. An easier decision if Martial is back in the squad, but regardless this cannot be tolerated.

More like a few minutes early leave from work than what you have described here (walking out of job for a day). Sometimes people do leave early from work, it happens, not that it was professional or anything, and boss has the right to get a little pissed off of course, but it’s not as serious as some of you has made out to be. As I’ve observed, some people like to act like a drama queen and make a big meal out of everything.
 On that hill till the bitter end.

Hard to do that when nobody wants him. The club shouldn't subsidize him playing for another club either, he can use his vast wealth to buy himself out if he's that desperate

I really hope Ten Hag comes out and says that Ronaldo has played his last match for United and isn't part of the dressing room anymore. I can't think of many worse things that he could've done. Walking out on your team after they had their best night, beyond fecked. Just a horrible teammate.

All our ex players are such suck ups. Rio is a complete tool on this.

Cant believe I just saw the genuine opinion that if a player isn’t good enough a club should release him from his contract so he can play elsewhere. He’s just not that good anymore.

It’s so ludicrous that I always think he’s joking.

Interesting to see how Ten Hag deals with him ….opportunity to show his authority.

Finally it's dawned on Ronnie that it's not all about him anymore. He's no longer top Shagger. Either suck it up or move on. We've adored him here, we'll contunue to sing his name, but time moves on.

He came on early v Everton so has basically started what? 4 of our last 5 games? Rio etc narrative is insane if you think about it.

the "it's not fair to Ronaldo" line that pundits have thrown out there again and again is so laughable. How about what's fair to United? Why does everything have to be about the man child all the time? Just get rid of him already. The way he's been playing this season, he's just not worth the drama anymore and it's not particularly close.

What if he comes back next week and gives a Fred-esque performance? There'll be a lot of eggs on the collective avatars of RedCafe
Not really. Fred deserves criticism all season for this rubbish displays and praise today for yesterday's good show. Why would there be egg on people's criticism of Ronaldo's shitty behavior

Him ending his career like this was the most predictable thing ever.

He probably should retire. Going to Sporting on appropriate wages would also be ok and almost certainly the best move to help his image. I don't think he would want to go to a lower money league. I do not think his wages demands come from financial desire but more like a reflection of what he perceives to be his statute. That said, I don't think he cares for Sporting at all. He cares only about himself, a classic narcisist, and at caricature level only on par with Trump and Elon Musk.

His goal is stat padding and has been for a long long time.

The only people that seem to stick up for him are his former United team mates.

This narrative that pundits spin about him being the best player in the world does my head in. He's no longer that freak of nature, goal scoring phenomenon. He's 37 years old, slow off the mark and not what he was any more. HE can't expect to play every game, and should realise that his time as first choice is, sadly, over.

What's really disappointing about the ex players is how they're setting up a narrative that Ten Hag is wrong and undermining him.

I can understand them not wanting to call out their friend and former team mate. I can understand them feeling bad for him and even feeling that he has been handled by management incorrectly.

But the likes of Rio claim to be United fans too. And undermining Ten Hag has the potential to be damaging. I think the vast majority of fans back Ten Hag in this situation so hopefully it doesn't have any effect, but Keane, Rio, Neville are all influential voices to some of our fan base and i think it's potentially damaging to be criticising the manager, over a player who even they must see is on a sharp decline.

Some of his supporters in the media are deluded. They think we prevented him from leaving, rather than it being the case that no big club wanted him because he isn't as good as before, and no smaller team wanted him because of his high wages.

We were very happy to let him go if anyone wanted him. We're playing better without him as well so makes no sense to force him into the line up just to keep him happy.

Maybe he did have a chance to play against Chelsea but he's diminished those himself with his attitude.

If for Rio saving Ronaldo for the weekend is the only thing he can think of, he is not a very good pundit.

The funniest thing is, if he's being saved for the weekend, why would he do so much fuss about not being used against Tottenham?

That's the biggest worry. Also, pundits putting themselves into this situation means they are likely to do "I told you so" once our strikers have bad day at the office.

There's no way they will come and say we are actually better without Ronaldo.

The only out I can give him is that he went through an overwhelming realisation of his decline whilst on the bench. I can totally understand reacting that way.

You should see his fanboys on Twitter. I wouldn't believe that people like that exist if I didn't see it with my own eyes.

Ronaldo fanboys blaming the Glazer's for Ronaldo walking down the tunnel is infuriating.

It delegitimizes the real genuine issues with the Glazer ownership that has impacted the club and its fans.
