Ronaldo Messi Swap Deal... Would you have it?

No

Ronaldo is at a much better level than current Messi. I mean he’s struggling in the French league ffs.

In a heart beat. Won't happen though. And pragmatically, think the squad would be better balanced going for a genuine #9.

Guys guys...

I thought we stablished years ago that messi wouldn't cut it on a rainy wednesday night at stokes. Hence this wouldn't make any sense

That was years ago. Stoke aren't in the PL anymore.

I don’t want either…we’re rebuilding and that doesn’t start with a capstone…

On what grounds? He scored 6 goals last season in Ligue 1. Surely he can do it in Stoke on any day?

Jokes aside, swapping Ronaldo for Messi would be a mistake. But... if Ronaldo is leaving it would be better to have Messi than no one.

Couldn’t press, not prolific in scoring goals anymore, old and undroppable, bigger than the club, and on very high salary. Still brilliant at creating chances but that’s not enough for most of our fans here.

People on here complain that Ronaldo doesn't press and make runs, and yet they want Messi - the guy who barley cracks 8KM per game :confused:

Messi will never want consider living in Manchester unfortunately, he won't have any of his friends(neymar) over here either, so unfortunately this has a 0 percent chance of happening.

Absolutely not, replacing one problem with an even worse one. The time for novelty is over, let's start taking ourselves serious as a club.

One of our priorities should be securing Ronaldo a move.

In a heartbeat would take the swap, brilliant outlet to have and think he would thrive in the premier league in front of Fred and McT

Psg board is not stupid. Why would Messi go to a Team that will play Europa League?

I’d have it to stop the whole Messi vs Ronaldo thing.

The moment Messi does something the same manner as his Barca seasons at another club he will be my GOAT.

Why do you want ETH as a manager if all you want to sign is players like Messi?

Messi hasn't had a great time at PSG, Ronaldo wants to go.

A swap deal could make sense. For both clubs it's a renewed commercial benefit as new deals will always hold more energy for shirt sales and commercial deals.

I've not seen this rumoured for clarity, but just keen to understand the feelings on this.

Assume the commercials will look after themselves either way. Messi is younger so there might be a cost, but let's not worry about all that as I'm sure both deals would fund themselves.

I think this is a unique comparison here. We already have Ronaldo and the outs for him look limited. Our budget to fix him going is also limited.

I'm not saying I'd naturally want to fix one old problem with another, but it's something to ponder.

As I said on another post I would only be game if we couldn't firstly ensure Ronaldo stays, secondly sell and buy someone for the future. If those don't work a swap could be interesting.

So Seedorf is better than Pele and Maradona. Ok

Ronaldo should leave because he is not mobile enough for a pressing team also let's get Messi who is worse.

Both are burdens at this stage. Their fanboys need to accept that and move on.

Messi has always been a bit overrated tbh. He won his balloon Dors playing in a weak Spanish league, the more athletic gym-going PL defenders would expose him.

Ronaldo has done it in 5 different leagues.

Messi over rated

Then I noticed the poster....makes sense.

What a ridiculous comment. Messi has scored more goals against the top 6 teams in the PL than Ronaldo, while never even playing in the PL. He outscored and out assisted Ronaldo in nearly every season while playing in the same 'weak Spanish league'.

Like Seedorf achieved the same as Pele and Maradona :wenger: basically the best international football players of all time

Messi and Ronaldo are much more similar with their achievements - with one doing it mostly during the xavi iniesta era and winning much less as they retired whilst the other did it with Scholes, kroos and modric whilst also arguably still to this day - not had a poor individual season which Messi had the first instant, the first moment he changed the environment he was in.

Messi is the best technical player I have ever seen - and no matter where he played no doubt he would perform the level he did for Barcelona-

but at the same time I don’t see him having those 92 goals a season performances if he played for a different team and league outside of Barcelona and La Liga.

Do I see him having that season in the PL? No. No one can convince me that he can.

Anyway, we will never convince each other about each other’s opinion about the 2 best players of all time. So let’s not have another chat about the same conversation because we are not changing our minds today or tommorow.

I respect Messi though and believe he is the most beautiful player to watch - but just like my wife, I wouldnt only want beauty in my partner.

take care x

Isnt the Ronaldo vs Messi thread still alive? Do we really need another thread to drive another fanatic festival?

You could then argue, why has no other player at any other club, ever came close to matching his 92 goals and 22 assists in 69 games?

If it was that easy then how come even Ronaldo couldn't even come close to them stats while playing for Real Madrid in La Liga?
