Its the phone?

16 pages for this  those with the most comments are also those most critical of the player in his performance threads and ever since he came back.

This has definitely got the makings of a media 5hit storm written all over it. He was absolutely wrong and completely out of line but he's apologised and he should do something for the lad but that's it.

I completely understand that a teenager (not a child to be clear) with or without Autism is likely going to be upset and take it mentally hard but to suggest the teenager is bruised and felt targeted or whatever is utterly ridiculous.

The media will push the family to make a huge deal of this and play every card possible. If he is genuinely Autistic of course that's really tough, but Ronaldo could have had no idea whatsoever about that. Its disappointing but won't be the first or last thing a footballer does in frustration.

The whole situation is like a comedy sketch. how it just escalated so quickly.

“She’s A Lying Bitch” Defend Ronaldo Fans Out Of Habit
April 11, 2022 - BREAKING NEWS, Football, Sports

KEEN to defend their favourite player of all time, Ronaldo fans have been quick to deny whatever he’s been accused of now, WWN Sport can confirm.

“She’s a lying bitch. Sorry, force of habit. This is a phone thing? With a kid?” offered fans, in their opening rebuttal to allegations.

“Well even if he did admit to doing it and apologised, he didn’t and he shouldn’t have because he’s done nothing wrong. There’s video evidence? It’s probably doctored. There’s witnesses? They’re just being put up to saying it by the Messi mafia?” reasoned Ronaldo loyalists, of an incident which saw the player smash a young Everton fan’s phone.

“Aside from the proof what evidence is there? A phone breaking when it’s thrown to the floor – that sounds very unlikely, phone screens are famously durable,” added fans, stalling for time while scraping the internet in the vein hope some comprising information relating to the Portuguese international’s accuser emerges.

“Aha! His mother’s neighbour’s dog parked on double yellow lines in 2006. This is who we’re supposed to believe over a goal machine with a 32-pack?” queried one ashen faced fan, the colour returning to their face.

Elsewhere, a queue of solicitors has formed outside the home of the child on the receiving end of Ronaldo’s outburst, with many suggesting the child could spend the rest of their lives in a full body cast due to the severity of the injuries.

12 yr getting wrist slapped = child abuse
12 yr old hurling all manor of abusive insults at strangers whilst his mum with him = banter.
What insults did the frail small child hurl at Ronaldo out of interest?

Personally I think it was wrong to do what he did.

We jumped all over Carragher when he did his spitting incident, and everyone was in agreement that what he did was wrong.

Ronaldo:
- Physically made contact with the person's hand by striking it with force, which resulted in the person's phone being knocked to the floor (he had no right to touch the person, and in doing so he allegedly caused marking/bruising to the person's hand; and he allegedly caused damage to the person's property - their phone)
- The person was 14 years old and is alleged to have a disability

Carragher:
- Purposely spat in the direction of a male adult in the driver's seat of a car, and in doing so spat at the person who was sat in the passenger seat of the car as well
- The passenger was 14 years old

The fact that the people on the end of the incidents were 14 years old, and that one has an alleged disability, makes these incidents absolutely shocking.

Even taken in isolation, striking the hand of a person with an amount of force that knocks their phone out of their hand, and intentionally spitting at people, are disgusting behaviour.

Jamie Carragher should never have been allowed back on TV, and Ronaldo deserves everything that is coming to him.

The Ronaldo apologists on here, should have a re-think of what they have said.

Rashford exchanged a few verbals with a mouthy fan and there's uproar and outrage.

Ronaldo slams some kids mobile phone onto the ground and just a "oh it's nothing" from the majority

Barring both obviously being stupid reactions that randomly involved 14 year olds (one disabled, one not), why are you comparing those two specific incidents?

Spitting is not comparable to slapping a hand. Plus the Ronaldo incident was down a tunnel of baying fans, not sat on custom made leather seats in an air conditioned coupe.

If he is genuinely Autistic of course that's really tough, but Ronaldo could have had no idea whatsoever about that.

A good way to avoid this sort of confusion in future would be to not slap random teenagers

Just as a comparison, the thread about Carragher spitting on a kid in an adjacent car has 48 pages, and also a poll. We've got some way to go still.

I think Ronaldo still has some way to go to equal spitting in someone’s face to be fair.

Really??

Both incidents happened in England, and the law of the land states the following:

'Spitting on someone is classed as battery under the common assault category of the Criminal Justice Act 1988. Battery is the application of unlawful force, and as well as spitting, covers incidents of pushing and slapping. Spitting, if done deliberately, is seen as an assault.'

Did you miss the part of my post that said, "The Ronaldo apologists on here, should have a re-think of what they have said." ??

I'd rather someone pushed or slapped me over spitting in my face any day. Even more so during a pandemic.

:lol:Will Smith would've copped so much more flak he'd spat a massive wad of phlegm into Chris Rock's face.

That would have been much funnier.

I don't care about the incident. I do however take issue with people acting all offended over an insignificant event.

I think you are among the most offended.

This modern phenomenon of eyerolling at non existent offence and outrage is bewildering.

Snowflake generation strikes again. Glad I wasn't a kid in the 2000s. In the 80s/90s we just got on with it instead of complaining about everything. You don't want your phone breaking, don't hang it out into a crowded place. Ronaldo will replace the phone I am sure anyway, no doubt with a better model. Anything other than a "don't do it again warning to Ronaldo" and the World has gone mad.....
It should be against the rules to hang the phone over into their path. What is this kid gonna get with having the phone a little bit closer? A whole new perspective on life?

but also what Ronaldo did was wrong

The kid was using the wrong phone...

Too soon?

I heard that the kids whole arm fell off last night.

Crazy world we live in.

Fair point

Lots of judgmental people around here. So he's not perfect and reacted poorly after a defeat. At least he cares. I'm sure Pogba was probably dancing in the dressing room...

Such a non story, shitty thing to do but he apologized and bought a better one , would that make up for the emotional damage probably not but it's best we move on.

Slapped the phone, the phone bounced off the ground and hit the kid in the face, which caused Ronaldo to yell SIUUUUU and make his famous goal celebration pose, and then fled the stadium when angry Scousers came after him with self-made hammers.

Well, at least that is how this story is now stuck in my brain after reading this thread.
So the phone assaulted the child. What did VAR do about it?

it will not be the first time Ronaldo's lawyers pay out....

at least this one is on the right side of the moral compass

I'm old enough to remember back to simpler more innocent times, where the worst thing you'd hear in the news was players kung-fu kicking fans and kicking ball boys.
