Romeo Lavia | Chelsea bound?

People have been saying that for a couple of decades now.

I get why people want us to fail of course but it ain't happening.

I have to say, you are a good poster on here, so I’m not looking to trash talk you; but…..if you weren’t a Chelsea supporter, if you were a fan of another club in the PL, can you objectively say you wouldn’t look at what Chelsea have done over the last 12 months - not to mention the RA era that proceeded it - and be sickened by it? Not only that, but can you see that from the outside, again imagining you are the supporter of another club, that what Chelsea are currently doing seems incredibly shady and there must be some serious financial skullduggery going on? Again, answer as a supporter of another team, not one with an irrational hatred, just a neutral supporter.

Final question…..if you were a supporter of a different team, having seen the incomprehensibly massive amounts of money Chelsea have paid in the last 12 months, in addition to the ethical stain of the RA ownership, would you not want to see Chelsea completely an utterly fail? Not as a rival, but just because of what they’ve done?

So we have three bona fide Arab clubs in the PL (City, Newcastle and Chelsea) all spending freely, more freely than Trump tweeting during a court case with impunity.

Utd to join them by next season and Liverpool soon after. What's dawned on me is none of the Arab countries care who actually wins stuff as long as their 'brand' is being sufficiently sold.

Might be worth getting hold of Simon Jordan's explaination from this morning on Talksport he goes right through it.

Klopp's mum's going announce she'd rather Pochettino visit for tea instead at this rate

I totally get why people want us to fail and why they hate us, of course. I'm sure I'd want Chelsea to fail if I wasn't a fan.

Somebody needs to set up a breakaway league and stick two fingers up at the whole pyramid. Not-for-profit, revenues spread evenly amongst clubs. An actual balanced competition. Will never happen, but it’s what football as a sport desperately needs.

their team is still largely full of nothing players, apart from Reece james I wouldn’t take any of those players Over any of ours.

I'm sure city and arsenal fans would say the same.
I don't know if you are joking or not..really?

this is a bit of a loaded question(above) ...When you get taken over soon will you want to buy lots of good players as well?

We also had Ballack, and Rudiger. Also Havertz gets a pass from the shit list because of that goal.
And the 65 m he just got us …..I also do t think Werner was nearly as bad as people seem to think.

Tell him Haaland, Gundogan, and KDB from the sitting champs say hi.

That CAM I can’t pronounce the name of (Dominic something) looks good atLiverpool.

Jude us waiving from Madrid.

The only league I truly just don’t trust as a Barometer is Italy

I dunno. I'm kind of curious to see how it goes tbh. This is the closest thing I've seen to a real life FM save.

Rüdiger didn't even join from a Bundesliga club. He played for AS Roma.

The one thing I do give credit to Lavia for is he's not money oriented. He wants to be at a properly run and managed football club.

Edit: even though I don't want him for £60m. Like I said I hope we're still playing games.
It is a little confusing. Do you mean Chelsea are properly run and managed?

How much have Chelsea spent last two season's?
ACTUALLY spent? Hard to know for sure. It certainly is nowhere near the simple adding up of reported fees, for sure.

I was Under the impression in fact that if we sold Gallagher and Chalobah this Summer we would be technically at a net positive gain for this window, depending on how much they charged back.

Many of these purchases of people under 20 never registered for the Senior squad or given numbers that are bing counted in some totals I see won’t count in the FFP equation at all.

Fenway may think they are placating the fans with the whole FFP inquiry announcement. But they are embarrassing themselves. They know there’s nothing to it, and already hedged with the “if we talk to them and there’s nothing there then we’ll leave it alone” thing.

It all looks pathetic.

I can’t imagine watching United one season then 12 months later it’s almost an entirely new squad, manager and owner there must be next to no connection between fans and players it’s crazy. I watched the game yesterday and the club was unrecognisable.

Chelsea fans are used to it though. Remember when Abramovich took over and they signed something like 24 players over two years and probably sold or released just as many.

That ended up being a pretty successful period for them, but this time they are really banking on a bunch of youngsters whereas before they also signed plenty of established world class players to complement the youth. Will be interesting to see how it all works out, but obviously I hope they fail miserably.

I'm sure they'd all take Enzo and that's about it.

The starting lineup yesterday had academy lads Colwill, Gallagher and James in it as well as Silva and Chilwell both in their 4th season. Sterling going into his 2nd season. That’s half the team. It may seem like that as an outsider looking in, but you make sound like it’s 11 brand new players all signed the day before the game.

So what you are telling me is we are paying £10m less than what Liverpool offered and we are still getting Lavia?

Sterling signed in the last 12 months and Colwill has barely played for the club, the whole bench of 9 players looked either new or kids that aren’t regulars. id say out of the 20 players named there must be 4-5 that id usually associate with Chelsea

Colwill is an academy product and you’re talking about no connection with the players? Maatsen another one from Cobham, off bench. That’s 4 academy players that appeared in the game. Of course it’s a crazy overhaul but I guess I’m just saying the connection obviously isn’t lost.

Not to mention one of the players we are connected with signing next, Olise, is ALSO a Chelsea academy lad.

If our team that won the CL was in its prime … I could see a rebuild being weird. But Kovacic’s hamstrings are like tinsel. Kante deserves his rest and reward in Saudi. Azoic wanted to ride into the sunset more than a year ago. He just wanted to finish up in Spain, but always a Blue. There’s no attachment to Lukaku to break… not positive ones.
Without all the fake charges (rightfully overturned)freezing our transfer windows at key moments, Covid, and the Ukrainian e invasion … some of the guys like RLC would have been sold a while ago. Rudiger probably would have been resigned.

Jorgihno … also past it and the wrong profile without Kante to cover.

Never super attached to Havertz.

We lost the team we embraced a while ago. That CL win just papered over the fact that we’ve been waiting for a team to embrace again for a fairly long while.

We wanted that AND an ownership that would take full use of Chelsea’s academy.

It feels like we are getting both

Alright fair enough

My point is completely invalid and this side is Chelsea through and through

On topic: I’ve been saying all summer long we should have signed Lavia and after yesterday I’m more convinced than ever

I don't know why you’re getting defensive about this. I only answered your post with my perspective, which happens to not align with your view.

I do agree though, you could do with someone of Lavia’s profile, and frankly for us it feels like overkill when we have already invested in Santos and Ugochukwu who are not far off Lavia’s level. What’s up with the Amrabat deal?

I think we need to raise funds before we can get Amrabat but with with Maguire and McTominay looking to stay we’ll probably struggle to get him in at this rate

Big issue for us is the Mainoo injury he’s a huge talent that would be getting minutes but he’s out for around 2 months I believe

is there anyone chelsea arent buying? How can they possibly keep this up and what happens for the spending the next couple of seasons? This is freaking insane

Sounds like Liverpool fumbled this one very badly.

Seems a bit strange to make a decision like that just because the other was considering other options while negotiating. Isn’t that something practically every single club does during negotiations?

I think it's pretty fair to be pissed off when Liverpool has been telling him and anyone who'll listen that they just don't have the funds to pay up, 2m is so much, woe is us we are so poor now, blah blah blah only for them to offer nearly 3 times as much for a different player.

How could you ever work with that club in the future knowing definitively the first thing they did was lie to you through their teeth?

Yep strikers, it wil be a 3-7-0 formation or 4-6-0 formation. Cant have enough midfielders.

I mean Liverpool kept bidding slightly below Saints demands and wouldn't budge on the last 3-5m£... Only to suddenly find 110m£ for trying to buy Caicedo instead of Lavia (unlike Chelsea, LFC was only getting one player). I could see why he'd be vexed.

So that’s Jorginho, Kante, and Kova who were all around 30+ OUT and Enzo, Caicedo, and Lavia who are are 19-22 IN.

Complete midfield rebuild done within 6 months. Extremely happy with this.
