I think United have ended up with our 2nd or 3rd choice attacker, and for a higher price, and I don't like it.

Honestly don't get the £70m price tag. Can see why United couldn't reach and agreement and think it's obvious Chelsea have been pushed into one after losing out on Lukaku (who cost an extra 5m but has reached 80 PL goals before his 24th birthday)
Added to the fact Lukaku is not 25 until next May and is classed as homegrown you can see why financially signing him was a no brainer.

Utd wanted Morata and signed Lukaku, Chelsea wanted Lukaku and signed Morata. Weird summer, but I'm pretty keen to see how they both turn out, and even though he's playing for Chelsea I'm happy to see Morata in the Premier League just to see how he answers the questions we were asking of him.

Where are you getting that info from? Wiki says he's scored 85 league goals in 209 league games.

Real Madrid B play in the league in Spain.
Rather than going out on loan (like Lukaku did) Madrid players generally play in the second division for the "B" side.

You are including his 45 goals for Real's second team, @TheReligion does not. Most of those goals are from the 3rd Spanish division, some from the second.

Lukaku has scored a shitload more than Morata, that's not embarrassing, it's a fact. Lying about how many goals someone has scored to win an internet debate on the other hand...
As stated i wasn't including B team goals but the fact is half of Morata's total goal tally is generated by playing for Madrid's B side playing in the lower depths of Spanish football..

Happy we got Lukaku, seems Morata never really wanted to come as he never pushed for the transfer. At any rate it will be interesting to see who performs better.
Just be honest in your arguments. Lukukau scored more goals, you don't need to lie abut the number of league Morata has or has not scored.
It's a toss up for me. Morata has better quality but Lukaku is a better goalscorer so far. Both seem to be progressing at the rate you would hope for too.

Didn't Morata dye his hair red? He wanted to move here. United couldn't reach an agreement with Real on his valuation. Basically he's not worth anything near what Chelsea have paid.

That's why Chelsea matched our bid when it was accepted. Only when they lost out did they look at Morata.

If you want to bolster Morata's figures by adding those from the doldrums of Spanish football no problem. Fact is his record infront of goal isn't great and certainly isn't 70m quids worth.
Why are people convinced Lukaku is more prolific? he's only scored 20+ goals in the league once. Morata almost always scores everytime he's given the stage. He's a better goal to min ratio as well.

I suggest you look at overall goal figures
I think Morata would have been better for United given Mourinho knows him well but both of them are dependent on their teams so it's not a bad move for Morata to go to Chelsea where he could also be a massive player for them.
I said this even when we were linked to Morata, but I think the whole minutes to goal ratio thing is overstated in this instance. Substitutes tend to do very well in this area since they're playing against tired legs. Didn't Hernandez have an insane minute to goal ratio as well?
Pretty obvious Laukaku was first choice for both clubs. No biggie, it's hardly a contest. Lukaku stated that he spoke to Mourinho months ago and made up his mind after the EL win. Obviously Conte was oblivious to this and felt that Chelsea would get Lukaku in. Morata was quite clearly second choice for both clubs. Good player, mind. Don't let some on here wind you up with the Spanish Welbeck lark

Morata scored 14 in 18 starts last season though that was usually against opposition that Madrid were far better than.
It wouldn't surprise me if Morata outscored Lukaku next season. I think overall both players are of similar value.
Like Le Fondre who seems to have scored 12 goals coming regularly off the bench in one season.
The risk of going into august without a striker and being forced to pay a lot for Morata wasnt one we wanted to take. Madrid clearly didnt want to sell us Morata before seeing as we are paying more for Lukaku.
