Romelu Lukaku vs Alvaro Morata 2017/18

In this system, with Mourinho as coach, Lukaku is perfect and wouldn't change him for Kane, Messi or peak fat ronaldo. I don't think Kane would do better in this system at MUFC and do think that Lukaku would've scored 20+ already at current Tottenham.

Why does age have to be a factor?

As for this thread, both players have blew hot and cold during the season, the one key difference is one manager has the balls to sub/drop their striker when he's not performing, whereas the other gives his unconditional 90 minutes every week.

Utter nonsense.

Totally the wrong time to come in big on slating Rom when he's been fantastic of late and has vastly improved his all round game.

Great signing.

I'm sure if Lukaku wasn't contributing at all like Morata then Jose would have dropped him fact is even when Lukaku wasn't scoring he was still contributing when Morata doesn't score all he does is fall to the floor like a little bitch

Morata being dropped is now a positive for Morata? I've heard it all.

Rom has been decent for you guys recently, has worked hard and had output in areas you wouldn't expect for a player like him. Right now the better player than Morata.

He's really impressed most United fans as he works very hard and has added alot to his all round play. His passion is alot contagious. I'm pretty happy with him thus far.

I agree, I was a harsh critic of Lukaku at one point earlier this season but I’d say he’s put me and many others back in their box.

I’m not usually a stat man but his goals and assists speak for them self. If his teammates could finish it would be higher. Considering the team set up he’s had to deal with I think he’s performed fine and should continue to improve.

Indeed if anything Lukaku's legacy this season will be impressing in areas we didn't expect i.e. assists but maybe not scoring the amount of goals he should have

Yeah I think it was more the flip side Morata started better and is now fading off and in really bad form and similarly Rom went through a bad patch earlier on but has worked his way through it and recently has probably been your most consistent attacker.

The thing he's done which Morata needs to do is work through it and work hard for the team. Giroud does it also and that is why he is favoured to Morata currently. All the ability is there with Alvaro but he needs to apply himself.

Happy for Lukaku that he has got rid of the lazy label.

People putting him level with Kane is absolutely absurd though and I cant entertain any of that talk.

One has stunk up the place whenever he plays, with his constant diving, complaining to the refs, missing sitters. The other has been the opposite, constantly the shining light when other players are stinking up the place.

He wasn't in the Autumn.

He's takingt shite. He's been upset since Rom rejected Chelsea to move to United and won't let it go. Very childish.
I didn't want him in the summer and made it very clear. Someone who doesn't have the stomach to fight Torres and a 33 year old Eto'o is not my type of striker, if he did rejoin us he would have probably handed in a transfer request when Giroud joined like he did re Eto'o and Diego Costa.

He's done better of late, but would you really want to turn down the chance of say a Lewandowski (who's been linked with United) to accomodate him?

I honestly don't know why you're so bothered about United and Lukaku? Everyone is happy with him and wants him at the club. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear but I watch him every week and he's doing very well.

He's 24, seems much more grown up and is still looking to improve and develop.

I didn't realize it was against the law to talk about other clubs my mistake.

I didn't realise I said it was? What's clear though is you aren't happy Lukaku moved to United, despite your claims, and you seemingly always want to discredit him.

It's bizarre timing really as right now the fans love him and he's playing really well.

Ok you win, he's the best striker ever, that better?

I win? What you on about. Don't crack up again FFS.
You are the one that gets all defensive over the tiniest bit of criticism towards anything United. You are the one who snapped at my original post.

I didn't snap, just said it was ridiculous time to start having a dig at the player as he's really impressive at the moment.

Really don't get what your problem is. We are happy with Lukaku thanks. Hope you're still happy with Morata and Giroud.

I have asked you two valid questions so far, both of which you ignored in favour of taking more personal swipes against me.

What have you asked me? Would I rather keep Lukaku or sign Lewandowski?

Lewa is turning 30 this year. I'd say it would make more sense to keep Lukaku given he hasn't reached his ceiling yet and I believe he will continue to improve and grow as a player.

I'd sooner United didn't sign any big name attacking players in the summer as don't believe that's what needed.

Oh. Hi there.

Just here to bump this thread for when people actually thought there was a debate. That is all.

@Don _ Conte where you at bro?

Lukaku has exceeded my expectations. And he will only get better. Big things are going to come from this fine, young man.

@VancouverUtdFan

The Lacazette comparison is baffling, and most likely exists because Arsenal fans massively overrate all of their players. Lukaku got 100 top flight league goals at 24, Lacazette had half at the same age. Lacazette also got most of his goals in a weak league and has not been able to get the same level as in Ligue 1.

The annoying thing about Morata is that he falls all the time at any contact as if he were a lightweight winger.

This gem should be posted here tbh. It was in Chelsea thread but still.

No one wanted him back. As bad as the last two transfer windows have been, missing out on Lukaku was a bullet dodged as far as i'm concerned, he's not good enough. Morata is a better player and i'm confident he'll end up showing it in the near future, whether that's with us or elsewhere.

The thing is, Morata could have turned into Robert Fleck and it still wouldn't mean missing out on Lukaku was a mistake.

Weren’t you that guy that got owned with screenshots or whatever from you previous posts, how you were bigging up Lukaku while it seemed Chelsea were getting him, before it turned up the opposite?

Nope, next ?

You know it was.
No it wasn't, if anything the mistake was not going after Belloti or Auba.

My mate who is United fan pointed out he has bagged 8 league goals since 30th September (vs Palace) which is 8 league goals in 6.5 months. That is far from exceeding unless you have a low expectation of a United striker. Rom himself would demand better and I hope he can back another 5 or so at the closing stages. That said, a rate of 1.23 league goals per month. If we want to challenge, we either need a world class scoring winger, to ease the burden or Rom needs to be more consistent. The standards are high at this end. I think he has done ok, all things considering, yet those waxing lyrical need a bit of a reality check.

And he has a goal/game in other competitions. One of which we might win on the back of Lukaku scoring in every round.

Think most United fans are and should be happy with him this, his first season. He works hard, acts in a professional manner both on and off the field and has shown alot of maturity. He tends to dissapear a bit in big matches but he's young and far from the finished product like Lewandowski is. I believe he will become a big and imoprtant player for us in the future, I really hope I'm right about this because I've grown very fond of him.
