To be fair I think you can include Rooney in the Lukaku numbers, to the extent of £13m. Because that's what we'd have had to pay him next season. And if Everton don't sell Lukaku they wouldn't bother signing Rooney. Same story with the Lukaku sale funding Keane's transfer, netting us another £7.5m.
So Lukaku is costing us £55m plus add-ons.

I'm really baffled at why there are so many on here (including oppo supporters) are so obsessed with the transfer fee or any transfer fees for that matter.
1/ We can fecking afford it...In fact, we can buy 3 Lukaku's if this was possible.
2/ We support the richest club in the world and they are willing to pay huge prices to get us back to where we belong. We should be happy, not whinging!
3/ Oppo supporters are jealous of this, as their own clubs are not on the same planet, let alone league, when it comes to comparing club finances, and any time we flex the old financial muscles they can't hack it!....Some say we should be embarrassed by the fee...why? It's not our money, it's the clubs. The people who should be embarrassed are the oppo supporters shouting about a transfer fee that United are paying...Proper fecking sad acts!

Everyone was obsessed with Pogba's fee last year but literally no one cares now and tbh it looks like a bit of a bargain. Likewise Martial the year before. This is just the way people are, they will stop caring after a while, especially if scores a lot of goals

Of course not. The add ons may not be realized - could be dependent on winning PL, CL etc. If they are realized then Lukaku will have done so well that the money doesn't matter.

I think that MUFC could've marketed the big reveal of Lukaku, better. Last year when Pogba was joining us, he made an advert for Adidas I think it was, where there was a poster of MUFC in it. This advert sent MUFC fans wild.
