What does it matter if we finance that? I don't get why people are saying this. He doesn't want to come to us. What if us buying Lukaku has financed Everton getting him? What does it matter who Real buy as long as it isn't DDG?

It doesn't, I just have an irrational hatred of Madrid :wenger::lol:

Though I agree Lukaku will need to improve, scoring in every other league game is quite good tbf. I believe put problems last season were about the shocking return from the other attackers. They need to step up regardless of how much better Lukaku does.

Lukaku's problem is going to be how defences camp in their own box against us. Our attack often worked very well last season until the final third when we were stuck with Zlatan, who for all his qualities was in the middle of every move and slowed us right down and let oppositions regroup. I hope Lukaku's pace and movement will address that but I think he will take a while to settle in.

Why do I have this bad feeling that we gonna sell Martial to PSG…

this is wildly unfounded and completely random. usually fears/bad feelings have a reasonable foundation, i have seen no links to PSG, its like you did a raffle with a bunch of names and came up with this, and that's not to mention Martial has already put exit speculation to bed

My worst fear finally has been confirmed. I suspected Jose would go for him right around mid season last season. I was relieved when rumors emerged that he'd agreed to go to Chelsea. Can't believe we're going to get stuck with this guy for a decade.

Anyway, could some one confirm the fee? We haven't actually paid 90m GPB for this guy, have we?
I have my reservations, but come on now. Your worst fear?

Everyone talks about a LW but I think we need a RW just as much if not more to be honest, Douglas Costa or Dembele would be my choices. I'm pretty sure Martial will be staying but he has to step it up this season, he's not been good enough regardless of the harsh treatment he may have received. You need to step up when it gets tough not sulk into your shell, will never be a top player if he doesn't start working.

Yeah I completely agree. Idk why are there talks about us getting another LW (read Perišić) at all when our RW position is what needs strengthening.

Ohh Dembele would be a dream signing IMO, but I wouldn't be against Lucas Moura from PSG either.

Fellaini loses a lot of headers considering his height

Lukaku can win the headers, Fellaini's chests are as good as headers.

Case in point:

Yeah, wouldn't call it great but if Lukaku scores in 19 league games next season, he's likely to hit 25+ goals and that'd be a success imo. What would then define our season from an attacking POV is whether the others step up and contribute because Lukaku's goals in themselves won't be enough.

And that's where his overall game is crucial, Lukaku until today have been relatively poor in that department which means that the other players will have less support and at a worse quality. We are now expecting them to do much more than what they were supposed to do.
Just look at PSG, Cavani is a very good goalscorer he creates for himself chances that almost no one else creates but his inability to consistently bring his his teammates into play was a problem last season because he was the only player benefiting from his job.

Team chemistry will be better, other players will have more freedom unlike last season when Zlatan's ego was getting in the way with him shouting and complaining everytime he didn't get the ball.
Rubbish. Unlike Lukaku, Zlatan never complains when he doesn't get the ball, he actually would clap even when Rashford and co made wrong decisions. Lukaku is the most selfish striker I have ever seen.

Listen we've been connected with Perišić (LW) move for a while now and we've witnessed that Mourinho is no stranger to playing Mikhi on the right, plus the fact that Rashford has advantage over Martial also.

I guess that's pretty reasonable fear right there.

No he isn't. You are really a delight hun.

DDG
Bailly Lindelof

Herrera Pogba

Mkhi

Lukaku

That spine is looking nice

You missed out Rashford, Martial and Shaw who all are very talented. Rashford is clearly in manager's good books.

Wow I wonder have you ever actually seen him play for us last season or him playing anywhere, like ever? There were instances last season where he was raising and flapping his arms in protest so much that I was genuinely thinking he'd start flying.

I think this transfer will make or break Mourinho's reign at OT, if Lukaku flops he may well be gone. Obviously I hope it doesn't happen, but the spotlight will be on RL and Pogba in a big way this coming season and if United aren't making a serious challenge for the PL and/or making progress in the CL that might be that for Jose.
Sky Sports News just had a comparison of the stats from Lukaku and Rooney's first 6 PL seasons, RL comes out on top so hopefully he will kick on and flourish at OT in the seasons to come, I just think he needs to hit the ground running.

I am thinking that you will get a different view when you grow up and have children.

We will see I guess. You can't argue with his record but there's huge parts of his game you can argue with.

I can say with certainty if Ibra divided this forum then Lukaku is going to be ten times worse on that front.

So do I. I hate them. Yet some it has all about Mbappe. I think they are taking one hell of a risk spending that sort of money on a kid after less than a season. He could be the best thing since sliced bread, but he might fail miserably and there would be some amusement in that.

That won't be a problem against top tier competition, and ultimately that's what we should build a squat for. Aim high.

Well if he is this flat track bully that only scores against rubbish then he should make a blistering start and have bags of confidence by the time we meet our first 'big' club.....

Usually a thread in United forum is opened once deal is fully completed. Someone else made the thread for Lindelof and locked the transfer thread and we ended up waiting ages for deal to be done and by that point the interviews etc were buried in rather than in opening post.

Matter of preference. I don't like threads being made earlier than needed personally. Others are fine with it but the practice had been that only once the player was on the United website holding the United shirt, that a thread would be in United forum.

I think it makes more sense to wait. You would like the first page to have as much official information/articles/interviews etc. Although the confirmation is done.

Good little clip of him talking about his game and his desire to improve.

Comparing the two would be atrocious. Lukaku shows movement, unlike Ibra, and that is where the main difference in our play would like. Additionally, being left footed, he could drift out right, allowing Mkhi/Mata/Rashford to get inside, and Pogba to march forward as well.

Ibrahimovich was a brilliant striker and footballer, but his movement (for us, i.e.), wasn't there due to his age, and the physicality of Lukaku alongwith the movement - I am excited!

and? where does PSG sweep in from? we are still light in numbers, its 38 games in the league+domestic cup comps+europe. Lukaku is our only readily recognizable striker. And even if not everything they say its true, the player himself said he's not going anywhere, you can't just ignore that

Heard him talk about that video thing years ago too. And tbf he has basically improved year on year over the last several years.

Every player especially strikers "go missing " when they don't get the service or have a bad team game

Innit - there were plenty of times Van Nistelrooy went missing in games. Usually it's down to lack of service.

For the doubters, I have to trust Jose on this one. He usually gets it spot on with strikers, same as CBs: McCarthy, Drogba, Anelka, Costa... Sure he may have Rooney's first touch, but it's something he can improve, he's still only 24 FFS. As long as the second ends up in the back of the net I don't care
