Matching our offer isn't matching our offer. We can effectively relieve them of £7.5m of the Keane deal, rumoured similar amount still owed for Schneiderlin and Rooney. If they want to deal with Chelsea we demand the money and keep Rooney, simple.

Threatening to keep Rooney is an interesting tactic.

I can't see us waving any fee for Rooney if we aren't getting something in return. It's hardly like they have done us any favours in the past is it?

If we've ended interest in Morata and Rodney's gone, Pogba and Neville are tweeting away it must be 99% there. Chelsea are simply trying to rock the boat that had already landed.

Chelsea are obviously proper desperate for Lukaku. This will probably drag on while Everton try and get as much money as possible.

Seems like an attempt to save face by Chelsea. Offer a deal that he won't accept at the last minute and then blame the players and agents greed for the reason why they didn't sign him.

Chelsea matching Uniteds offer-story smells of a leak from a club, who's trying to save face and claim that it was a greedy agent who got in the way of them getting their top transfer target this summer.

Also highly suspect that this comes from a source with close ties to Chelsea, rather than a broader leak.

That looks to be planted by chelsea to save face. Basically saying if he chooses united, it will be because of agent fees being higher by us. Dint they do the same with hazard by offering his agent 6 million?
If we have really jumped the gun then we will be embarrased to no end and might end up paying even more for Morata.

Especially since it was double our previous record at the time. And when we signed Yorke for £13m it was only 4 shy of the then current World Record fee. But we were less spoiled back then by the lure and ubiquitous YouTube videos of glamorous flashy foreign options, so the idea of smashing the British record for a player with one good season for newly promoted Newcastle under his belt, or an Aston Villa player who'd never scored 20 league goals in a season was less of an issue to whine about.

Reckon even then most United fans would've preferred a world star. That said things were different when we bought Andrew Cole...he and Collymore would've sufficed, then again there weren't as many international stars in the Prem in those days. The likes of Baggio, Romario et al simply wouldn't and didn't play in our league - so most fans set their sights accordingly.

Please don't let Chelsea sign him.

The meltdown here is going to be even crazier than anything else.

But Chelsea will not match the agent fees Mino Raiola will get from Lukaku moving to United, leaving the striker with a tough decision to make.

Lukaku must now decide whether to go ahead with the £75million move to United that had been set up by Raiola or effectively go against his agent to re-join Chelsea.

Chelsea and us - we will either end up with Lukaku or Morata. Both are brilliant strikers. Both have good qualities. It's just a waiting game now.

Chelsea are just trying to save face here. Nothing to worry about.
If they were face saving, I think it'd be wiser to just say they aren't going to be bullied into paying so much. Planting this would just make it seem like they're going to be rejected.

Anyway, who else thought Mirandinha was massively talented Brazilian player when he signed for Newcastle???

By putting in that they aren't ready to match Raiola's fees, they basically blame the agent, while showing their fans that they have intent - and muscle - to match transfer fees coming from anyone.

Surely pretty clear to everyone now (including Morata himself) that the Spaniard is very much second choice for both clubs.

The good news is he's supposed to be having a medical tonight, so this should be wrapped up over the weekend.

It was already known that Everton were going to accept both United and Chelsea's offer. That's not a new development. It's up to the player, which up to now, I haven't seen anything that commits Lukaku either way. All that was ever agreed recently was just the fee between clubs.

Not sure who these sad people are, but neither Phil nor Pogba have tweeted, folks creating fake accounts.

Sad.

This is exactly what it is.

Matt Law being the pawn used by Chelsea in this particular game.
