I'm conflicted on this transfer. He does add some pace and finishing but I'd like to see finally see us play some good football and I'm not sure he adds to that.
He is WAY slower than Rashford and Martial.

The fee is not too bad considering for how much other home grown players that are expected to perform are going in the last few years (Carrol, Stones, Sterling, the gk Everton just bought from a championship side) and the 100 million that were going around in the media with Everton spending left and right like crazy.
Also, it looks like they're going to take Wayne after all. Him going in the other direction should add like 15 million alone. :D

It staggers me that they're allowed to run both a sports 'news' outlet and a betting company, particularly when the former has a history of breaking stories that turn out to be false.
They don't explicitly own Skybet.

Something like a 20% stake.

Still dodgy as.

I remember people being unhappy with Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and Teddy Sheringham amongst others....

People don't want to sign players from Newcastle, Villa, Spurs and Everton - they want Jnr Leanardo Fernando Kickaballos from the Brazilian 3rd division who is usually a Brazilian U19 International who scored 8 in 30 in his debut season for Gremio and is dubbed the 'new Ronaldo' on FM 2017

Now I am not saying Lukaku would be my first choice of every striker on the planet but you cannot argue with his goal scoring record and some of the criticism is OTT

People talking about Morata as if he's world class. Yes he's technically better than Lukaku, but Lukaku is an absolute goal machine. And the whole point of the game is to score goals. We don't need a striker who has to create all chances himself. We need someone who scores the chances that are created, especially against the weaker sides, who we struggled against last season (not in terms of creating chances, but finishing them). Also Morata is being overrated here. He's a very good all round striker, but I don't see anyone lining up for him other than us. Anyway I'm just happy that we'll have a striker who will score a truckload of goals next season. Can't wait for him and Pogba to link up on the pitch!

The bullshit about Morata's potential world class technical ability is ridiculous.
Where the feck are people getting this from?
From watching him perform at the highest level of football for both Juventus and Real Madrid. He's got no significant weaknesses in his game unlike lukaku, the issue (and gamble) with Morata is whether he can go that next step and start scoring consistently as a starting striker. To make that step up to world class he's gonna need to be trusted to start week in, week out and I was hoping that opportunity would be presented at Utd, but it appears not. Lukaku is different in that he has proven he can score goals, what he will never possess is Moratas natural footballing ability and unfortunately I think that will forever hold him back from being world class .

Considering how frustrated fans get with Rooney, it's going to be interesting seeing our shiny new toy struggle to control the ball and misplace passes constantly.
Depends on how many goals he scores. Much like it did when Rooney actually scored goals.

I have a funny feeling he'll end up at Chelsea and I would be pretty disappointed if it were to happen.

The signings people wank ove liker Di Maria, Memphis, Schneiderlin etc. were much worse than expected. In fact they turned out utter shite. Maybe it works that the ones people have reservations over are better than expected.

Lol Morata will never be in the world class bracket. Technically he's s bit awkward to be honest, I am a of his, but someone called him the Spanish Messi on here lol, which is laughable.

I think people are guilty of overhyping players. Especially players such as MFs and Defenders. We could spend 40 million on a DM and people will over hype him and he wont deliver because he wont have a goal or assist every match. Then the same people say "we need to buy another DM" and so the cycle continues.

No, he's a player who's not the best technique-wise but scores a lot of goals.

I think we'll have to test that one ourselves. Not sure he's ever played in a final.
Does the European super cup count?

Have to admit, it's lovely pinching a player from under Chelsea's nose. Hopefully it upsets Conte just that little bit more.

I can confirm this as absolute tosh. 100% made up drivel.

In May Lukaku said he know exactly who he was signing for; he knew he was coming here. United played the Morata game, getting Everton to come down in price.

De Brun GENUINELY 100% - I know this for a fact - has absolutely ZERO inside information.

United have not turned to Lukaku as a last resort and Lukaku did not have preference for Chelsea over United.

I would recommend a ban for De Brun. Guy lies for a living and I'm not sure he genuinely has any problem sleeping. I think he just loves the attention, and it doesn't bother him that the attention he gets comes from him blatantly lying. He would lie straight to your face and I know because he has lied straight to me.

Bullshitter of the saddest order.

I'm sorry he told you he'd leave his wife with you but that's no reason to discredit him.

It's definitely dodgy as feck. The other 80% is owned by CVC, a massive private equity firm who are well-known for doing all that it takes to generate more revenues.

Me too. Something is quite odd about all this.

Naw. You're both just surprised that the media didn't get a whiff earlier. I mean...sports journalism is mostly trash and leans towards falsehoods that seem feasible.

Costa leaving Chelsea. Lukaku is a similar player. He's going there.

Morata played for Jose. Jose dished on Lukaku early in his career. Morata to United.

Media loves hating on United. Chelsea beat them to Lukaku.

Granted, Morata may yet be on our list but those stories seem believable and had many convinced

This transfer could still fall through. However, people are overestimating the chances of that happening. Chelsea don't look like they're going to bid untill they sell Costa.

I seem to remember reading somewhere (reliable) that lukaku was not Conte's choice but more the board's choice. This would explain the upset coming out of Conte's camp a few weeks ago and why their pursuit of him has now stalled.

Fortunately, if that's the case then that may explain why Lukaku changed mind and wanted to go to us knowing he wasnt managers choice at chelsea but was at utd.

Did he tell you that he loved you and his fling with Woody meant nothing?

Tbf, the Koeman's comments on us back in May make much more sense now.

Disappointing. Not a player who has shown anything that suggests he can lead a league-challenging side or do anything in the CL.

For £75m, you might as well add a bit more and go for the world beaters.

Lukaku has it all to prove here.

So, sounds like we got pissed off waiting for Madrid. At the same time (purely coincidentally) we put in a bid for lukaku and have it (supposedly) accepted.

So, if lukaku is first choice (which i think he was) why didnt we put this bid in before?

It's because lukaku had chosen Chelsea. Thats fine, makes sense. So what changed? Lukaku doesnt care if this drags on but i bet Riola does. How much you want to bet this was Riola telling utd to bid as chelsea were stalling, but actually wanting Chelsea to get their finger out.

So what will now happen is Chelsea will bid the same, lukaku will agree to go Chelsea. And when we go skulking back to madrid they'll laugh at us and demand 75m.

This could end awfully

Madrid wanted 90m EUR for Morata, Which is about £79m.

He's upset because he's been claiming that he's mates with Woodward and knows all of our transfer plans to the last detail, but has been shown up because he didn't have a clue that Lukaku's apparently been our main target all summer.
