Romelu Lukaku | Napoli watch

Making a difference at top top level was never his strength, even though he had some excellent games, e.g. vs Brazil in Russia '18. He is valuable in league football where he can bulldoze average/poor teams.

Pretty much. The issue is that for a team like Man United, building a team around a player who will likely never be a top 3 striker in the world just isn't worth it.

Top 3 striker in the league, forget world.

Where did I say amazing, he is clearly not a "shit" player, its just the usual hyperbolic bullshit you see on here

Sort of ironic post, considering in the last 3-4 pages, only 3-4 posters called him shit player.

But he wasn't for us. His had many barren spells which isn't good enough for a lead striker. Yesterday I posted the breakdown, after his initial 2 month spell, he averaged around 1 league goal a month for us.

The vast majority of posters don't call him shit though.

If he has a shit game, he's shit, if he has a good game he's great, its the usual way things work on here.

No he wont be a top 3 or top 5 striker in the world, but he shouldn't have been sold without a replacement, I seen nothing in Martial or Rashford that suggests they could lead the line.

Do you watch him play or are you just another one of those who looks at stats and sees an amazing player? There's a fair few of them stats men around here

I admit I fell into this trap when we signed him.

Tbf, he was much better for Everton, leaner, faster and quicker off the mark. Everything was below par at ManUtd when he gained so much weight.

Ahhh the charm offensive.

Ahh, the usual drivel.

Go on and quote all the posts which called Lukaku shit after his game vs Dortmund. There will be posts which calls his general play as shit, first touch as shit, not a shit player except 2-3 posters who just don't rate the player.

Some people say he's shit some people think he's good, wtf is actually wrong with me posting that? You don't have to take everything so literally. If you think I post shit, ignore me there is a button for it. Your "calling people out" is simply childish to be honest.

So asking you to back up your points is childish?

You should post blogs with comments disabled.

Do some people on here call him shit and do some people think he was good and shouldn't be sold? Why would I do that .

Hahaha this place is nuts. First half he's Fat Ronaldo but second he's back to Donkey.

I was just think the same, one minute he’s being hyped up for winning 4 headers as Inter are winning then 45 minutes later they’ve lost and he’s a big game bottler again.

There you go, others who basically said what I have, after looking for 10 secs, go "call him out" while you are on your little crusade.

That was after pointing out not many calls him shit player. No one (not even his defenders) calls him great player, not many (except very few) posters call him shit player. The only hyperbolic bs post in the last page is from Spurs fan, who just assumed and posted randomly.

All the discussion is whether his goal scoring is good or good enough to carry limited player.

I edited my post, if you have a problem that I am Spurs fan, that's your problem not mine mate, truly pathetic.

 If that’s what you got from that post then no wonder you struggle to post properly.

Well side stepped.

So you quoted posts which doesn't support your argument and somehow said 'side stepped' Why would I call them out randomly after many pages of different arguments.

So instead of quoting the posts which called Lukaku great player and shit player (to support your argument), you quoted posts which said "this place is extreme". Nice try.

And to make it all worse, somehow played a victim card that you being Spurs fan is my problem. Pathetic.

Why has the fact I am a Spurs fan got to do with anything? The quotes were from last night... See there you go again "nice try" what the feck are you talking about? My posts were saying that views swing greatly, the quotes said the same thing I did, I really don't see the problem. Victim? How have I played a victim card?

You did, anyways this is boring now.

Or you have the majority of opinions who don't fit into these categories.

Thats great, how many of those goals were instrumental in winning major trophies unlike say every single player you nominated above. Mario Gomez had 2 40+ goal seasons in the bundesliga.... is he class? no.

Gomez has never scored 40 goals in one season in the Bundesliga... I dont know what you are on about, but Gomez scored alot of goals for Stuttgart and Bayern. Stuttgart even won the league and him being player of the year that year.

So he was very good and had a very good career. Your post is weird, sounds like you think Gomez was a terrible striker or something.

And to answer your question, I've never said Lukaku has been insperational in winning trophies, he has just scored alot of goals for his age. And his record for Belgium is very good.

I just state the fact that he scores alot of goals. Alot more than any of our players.

Wether you rate him or not, you cant argue that fact

Which means he's better than them right?
fecking stats man

Where did I say that?

I just find it interesting. Many says he's shit, but he scores a lot of goals for a striker thats shit.

He's a much more proven goalscorer than many of our players. Not replacing him or convince him to staying one more season was a mistake.

Atleast in my opinion

Well he can be loved by Inter fans then, For ManUtd he didn't show that.

His career record is less than a goal every 2 games, that's not brilliant record or goal machine record. Obviously he has scored bucket loads of goals as he is playing since he was 16, so he has played for 10 years. Would have been weird had he not scored many goals considering he played 400 plus games.
I forgot that just playing football means you score goals automatically!!
He averages across the whole.of his senior career just about a goal every two games. That incorporates his first few seasons in senior football and a spell playing mere minutes at Chelsea. His record is sublime, not many players can claim to have scored at the same rate over a long period of time.
Football is more about scoring of course, and it's obvious Lukakus not a naturally gifted footballer in terms of technique, but for people to call him out for ONLY scoring goals is petty, as that's his primary role in the team!!

Of course he is decent to good player with decent goal scoring record, it's just that goal scoring record isn't good enough to carry a limited player. He averaged 15-16 league goals per season and it's not enough for a player who doesn't offer much.

Van Nistlerooys overall contribution was generally average, but he scored goals so no one really cared.
Lukaku has a similar goalscoring ratio to RVN, despite playing in an inherently weaker team, yet people use his 'footballing contribution' as a stick to beat him with.
You could also through Chicarito into the mix, similar story.
RVN was clinical af, whilst Lukaku can miss a house tbh.

Oh dear RVN is apparently comparable to Lukaku.

Lukaku goals are hardly ever important, hardly shows up to break a defence that is at the top of their form, doesn't show up against the best teams, tends to score when the whole team is on form.

RVN is a predator - scores for a team that may have an off day, against all different teams, the best of defenders, scores at the start of the game, the end of the game & typically showed up when you needed him.

Van Nistelroy was underrated in the buildup. Really strong with his back to goal, reliable option for his team mates.

How did he show he was good goal scorer for us, for a limited player he averaged less than a goal every 2 game. 2.28 games per goal is not a goal goal scoring record, especially in this era and also for a limited player. Even if you go by mins per goal, it's close to 2 games a goal.

He scored 27 in his first season and his second season effected his overall goal record due to being in and out of the side. He had over a goal every 180 minutes in a team who does not score goals. He scored goals for Anderlecht, West Brom, Everton and now Inter whilst also being his country's all time top scorer at 24. He is very, very obviously a good goalscorer.

For all teams, he averaged same goals per game, except Inter.

Which I believe is a good goal record, I don't believe there is really much to debate here as the numbers are there to see. I am not saying he is Lewandowski or Harry Kane but I definitely think he is a good goalscorer and by a mile the best we had which is what makes it especially ridiculous that we did not replace him.

That's a more sensible post, I think he wanted out of United for what ever reason and had downed tools, I said before the season started he would get at least 20 league goals. If you build the team around him he will score.
He is a shit player. The shit player is just attached to a good goal-scorer. :p

Well i did say it depends on what you call as good goal scoring record. 0.43 goals per game or 168 mins per goal for a player who always plays as CF isn't a good record IMO, especially for a player who has many limitations.

Not replacing him is a mistake, dont think anyone argued against that.

I think there have been a few freak goalscorers who have created unrealistic expectations about what a good goal scoring record is personally. Players like Shearer, Owen, Inzaghi, Raul etc. had records of 1 in 2 or slightly better. These 1 in 1 strikers are anomaly's.

Players like Shearer, Raul are not limited, that's the difference.
