Romelu Lukaku | Napoli watch

As an added bonus we don’t have to worry about facing him and Sanchez in the Europa League.

I understand the fun here but there is nothing he could've done . No one is moving out from that position. I would be asking question why he - as a striker - is covering GK . He should be going for that header

Funny as it is it looked to me like the keeper would have saved it. However I havent seen a slo-mo replay so could be wrong.

To be fair without his performance against Gladbach they wouldn't even have been in the situation to still qualify for the round of 16.

But the scene in the video is still hilarious

The guys calling him the anti Michael Jordan is actually spot on

Aye, someone who can never be wrong about his positioning and is top 5 in the world, standing in a position no striker should be stood in during that phase of play, is perfectly top 5 material. He said he couldn't be wrong though so he must be right.

Standing there like a feckin Michaelangelo sculpture is absolutely fecking amazing work for someone who regards himself so highly.

Your comment even contradicts itself, there's nothing he could have done? Then you question his position in the first place  so there is everything he could have done. First thing would have been just standing anywhere but right Infront of goal in an offside position. Stand at the half way line, the corner, the sideline, stand in a feckin maccy D's and he couldn't have done any worse than he did.

Why is everyone saying he’s offside? It’s a corner. You can’t be offside from a corner. If the delivery had been better he had a free header. As a striker finding space in the box is a good thing.

Because he's offside after whoever it is heads it, he makes no attempt to move even after he knows he isn't getting the initial ball off the corner. Anyone with half a brain would have realised if they werent getting that ball to their head in that position they were gonna have to move. Not stand there like a spectator ffs.

Infact, I'm actually curious as to if he was even thinking of getting the initial header? The corner was always an outswinger, always going to be. He was never getting it 3 yards out.

Does that hold good even for being in the line of vision of the keeper?

His movement wouldn’t be top 5 in Sunday league. Mind you, that’s full of overweight, goalhangers as well.

after a pretty crap 24 hours, you can rely on Lukaku to cheer us up. He’s a cartoon.

even more funny that he stopped a Sanchez header!

you mean if the delivery has been right on top of the goalkeeper? Then the goalkeeper would have caught it! The delivery was great by the way - strong header from Sanchez, which hit the lamppost standing in the wrong place, yards offside.

easy to find space behind the last defender. :wenger:

His ability to be on the wrong side of key moments is uncanny

The anti michael jordan indeed

But he must know that any delivery is going to be put away from the keeper, so he isn’t going to be the one on the end of it. Which is fine of course, if you’re hoping to feed on any scraps from the person who does head it towards goal. If that’s the case though, you’d want to be stood onside, otherwise what’s the point?

Everyone in that picture is in action or on their toes and he’s there like he’s waiting for a bus
That is because others need to see the ball and then get into the position to score. But he is already there.

I don't think that is a goal anyway since the keeper would save it. Why he stands in that spot I have no idea about. It is offside even if he scores.

The giddy joy in this thread every time Lukaku has a bad game in a season where’s he’s scored almost as many goals as Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Cavani combined is equal parts hilarious and embarrassing.

He didn’t work out at United and he’s far from the perfect striker but the way people are obsessed with kidding themselves that he’s genuinely shit is fecking bizarre. I know that the club doesn’t give us much joy these days but this is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I’d have a laugh at any ‘top’ striker doing that to be fair not just lukaku, the images and slow mo of him stood so casually offside blocking a potential goal in the 89th minute is bizarrely funny

He wandered into an offside position and just stood there watching while the defence moved out. Granted, there's nothing he could do about the header, it was a rocket. But the fact is he shouldn't have been stood there.

What gives me joy is how highly he rates himself, speaks of himself in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo, then 2 days later does what he does. If he didn't talk so much absolute dogshit maybe people wouldn't give him such a hard time.

He's a big gosbhite and I'm glad it's came back to bite him in the arse.

It is going to be even worse with Pogba I think once he is gone. People like to hate and find scapegoats for everything wrong.

We have had so many post SAF. Smalling, Jones, Lingard, Lukaku, Pogba, Di Maria, Shaw, Lindelöf, Sanchez etc.

Seconded,

Have to say, your stance here is a bit weird given how outspoken you are in wishing the worst for players after they move on from United, Angel Gomes being one example of many.

In fact, I would have thought you’d revel in this thread given what’s happening in it at the moment. Must have been against Lukaku’s sale?
