Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea

Just classic Lukaku all this ain't it? I remember Everton fans having to put up with such interviews every time he went on International duty.

considering he speaks eight languages, most of them fluently
That number goes up every 5 pages!
But being the scholar of the spoken tongue that he seem to be, the latest rumor also has him down as speaking fully fluent Bullcrap like it was his mother tongue. So the correct number should be 9 for the time being. :wenger:

Lukaku

I remember he did an interview when he was at United and he said he spoke seven, and he's since learned Italian

If his career tanks, he can be the new protocol droid Boba requested in the Book of Fett.

Tuchel has handled this situation beautifully in my opinion up to this point. He has avoided throwing his player under the bus while at the same time penalizing him and showing who holds the ultimate authority by dropping him out of the squad. A decision that paid dividends against the scousers

But jeez does he have himself to blame if only a little, there are 2 scenarios here:

A : he specifically authorized his purchase and they gone for him with his blessing , while completely being aware of lukaku's past behavior and him obviously not fitting their style and splashing a record fee on the lad.

Or B : he was forced upon him by the board who wanted a new shinning star to spearhead the team with little to no regard to how he fit the playing style or the team's chemistry which begs the question, why didn't he make this clear to the media that romelu wasn't his choice so when things inevitably go awry he would have this excuse to fall back on.

Also its astonishing that this is the "player" who holds the record for accumulated transfer fees in the history, a player who has in point in his Career ever been considered among the top 5 of his position.

Despite certain comments, I think the situation is getting worse.

Tuchel did very well to exclude him from the team.

But Lukaku didn't apologize and I don't think he will.
The supposed messages to the American friend and the episode on Facebook make people fear the worst.
This behavior does not seem to have a solution.

If Chelsea and Tuchel accept this behavior it can destroy the environment in the team.

I would be tough, or he shows up publicly, apologizes and commits to the team, or be treated as Kepa was treated in his day.

Surely he's talented, but it really speaks volumes of him that he listed Flemish and Dutch as two separate languages, guess he also likes to take pride in being a polyglot

Tuchel is a class act, a genuinely great manager and a fine person.
I was surprised why was a manager like him interested in a man child like Lukaku who probably has the worst first touch in entire Europe.

I know less than 0.000001% of what Tuchel knows about football (probably less) and I could see that bringing Lukaku back was a terrible decision, so I'm not sure what he or the Chelsea board saw beyond the raw numbers that made them think he was the right fit. Tuchel's first major mistake as Chelsea manager and he's lucky it's come at a time when he still has equity in the bank with the fans and the board. Lukaku is the last person you want as your talisman and leader for the kind of high-intensity unit Tuchel was building, both in terms of personality and profile.

What an absolute man child this guy is. Inter fans don't even like him and prefer Dzeko.

He's going the Michael Owen route of alienating every fanbase he played for. What a fool.

I genuinely think he was either forced upon him or was a panick buy, but you're right he's seems to be a fine person and has handled it very well so he might still be able to make it work

No more preparation for me for the interviews in the future. If those dickheads taking my interview put tricky situations infront of me to find out how smart and intelligent I am, I am just gonna tell them that I know multiple languages if by any chance I get to the interview after clearing the written where I also gonna put that I am multilingual. Should do the trick. Easy.

Some players don't have shame at all. Club pay over 100 mil for you, give you millions for wages, give you and agent millions in cash for signing and then after few months you say that you are unhappy?? I simply can't understand that. Were you forced with the gun to sign contract?

It is hard to love players these days.

At the core this is the issue. So glad him and Sanchez aren't our problem anymore.

“This interview shows the weakness of an athlete who after six months gives up, perhaps because he arrived there with the arrogance of someone who doesn’t realise what his real level is,” Di Canio said on his Sky Sport Italia Premier League show

“He won the Scudetto in Italy as a co-protagonist with his other teammates, but he’s no Lionel Messi. Inter would’ve won even without him, if they had Duvan Zapata or someone like that upfront. He is a functional player who did his duty in that team.

“He then went to the Champions of Europe, in the Premier League against sides like Manchester City and Liverpool, where he is just one of many big names. If you arrive at Chelsea and think you’re going to be number one, you are in for a rude awakening!

“Chelsea played much better without Lukaku. He is a fragile player, so he seems to have character, but when he talks like that, the truth is he is very fragile.”

“Lukaku scored an incredible own goal here, it was a disastrous interview that made absolutely everybody unhappy, including himself. As I always said, he’s a big soppy cat more than a panther, he has never been hungry or determined in the big situations,” continued Di Canio.

“I think Chelsea are tearing their hair out with regret over this transfer, especially as they didn’t even really need this player.”

Di Canio took it very personally

The ironic thing is the way Rom has been used the last three games is actually the perfect way to utilise him on paper (on for the stat padding against Villa and Brighton but kept well away from Liverpool).

He could be an asset to any squad if he knew and accepted his strengths and limitations but unfortuently he (appears to) genuinely think he's in the very top tier of player.
