I remember he won a total of one header from a thousand hoof balls we played towards him.

He's not a target man. He needs to be pushed out wide and face the defender. There is not much point being that big if you aren't aggressive.

Wouldn't be a professional footballer if he didn't have such impressive physical gifts. Unfortunately for Lukaku and many other youngsters who possess this type of physical advantages they tend to over rely on them at the expense of technical qualities which can only be developed in childhood and as you move up in levels the physical advantages become less obvious and technical quality is paramount.

Look at someone like Walcott. Had the pace/athleticism to terrify premier league defences at 16, could you imagine playing against him in the U16s on a full size pitch? Just like Lukaku his physical gifts are what he relies on and never develops any real technical abilities so eventually gets exposed at the highest levels.

He seems incapable of getting involved in the general play so, if he isn't scoring goals, he's pretty much useless.

He's much better than this. It's so weird to see how good players just turn into utter donkeys with us.

At Everton / WBA he was a threat in every match. Sure he had his limitations but he just seems so unfit recently. Is our medical staff making our players bulk too much? Same thing happened with Memphis Depay.

Jose is the only one who can't see this

He did admit it as such in the post match conference but Jose also said he's 'our striker' (made it sound as if he's the only one). He did say we have Rashford to play there but that would mean we have no winger if we put him in the centre. I just don't think Rashford, Martial or Sanchez are the type of strikers he likes so we're very much stuck with Rom at this point.

I've changed my mind and I would take Zlatan back as at least he would have some awareness of the players around him.

All of this is ridiculously over the top. He's hugely out of form and needs a serious rest, but pretending he's a pub footballer is absurd. He's a 1 in 2 striker for almost a decade.

That said, we desperately need to bench him for a while. But I don't think Jose ball can accommodate any other option except Fellaini up there.

Sanchez has been a CF, as has Rashford but neither are much use with long balls.

I'd be happy with Lukaku as an option. Remember when we always had 4 centre forwards under Fergie? When our struggle was accommodating either Tevez or Berbatov?

Ha. Good times.

A truly useless forward. Can't even do the basics, £75m on lump like him. He'll score a cheap tap-in vs Everton though (likely when the game is already decided) and we'll hear the 'i ToLd YoU sO' shite from some people.

It's gotten to the point where it would seem that we've genuinely got a decision to make regarding Lukaku, and his role at the football club.

I do think that he's a good goalscorer and will return to form soon, but if we truly have ambitions of being a really top quality side, he cannot be the number 9 we pin our hopes on. I'd like see us rotate him/bench him for a more well rounded CF. We need to have an alternate, someone like Firminho who has the all round game to bring others in. And to be honest that striker should be the starter with Lukaku on the bench most of the time.

The problem, for me, is that Mourinho really really rates him highly.

I hear this guy might be available for a reasonable fee...

He desperately needs rest for atleast a week. This guy has been playing non stop for a while now.

176 club goals in 381 appearances shows that he's not complete crap, but when he's not scoring his confidence drops completely, and his already average all round game becomes super week.

In short, he may as well not be on the pitch at the moment.

What he needs (other than an attacking team creating lots of chances) is a couple of weeks of rest and some sessions with a sports psychologist.

No please. I don't want to hurt my eyes watching him trying to do stepovers and other tricks.

Ha. Good times.

I used to "hate" Berbatov because, although he produced goods and crazily skillful, he's so lazy compared to others. I think SAF saw that too, and ended up selling him to my delight.

But now, oh my oh my.. how the mighty has fallen. Crushed and burned.

Way to static and looks heavier to me. Fans were shouting "move"at one stage . Worse performance from him so far.

Yeah, a consolation goal.

I wonder if this paranoia of turning this type of players into some sort of bodybuilders who only need to be strong might have something to do with his apparent lack of flexibility and agility. Not even going into how the team plays and other stuff.

It's a fecking mystery to me, how a guy like him, built like a tank gets so easily bullied. Like a kid against grown men, fecking pathetic.

Danny Welbeck with a Gym membership, sick of him just ruining potential attacks with poor touches or passing behind his teammates, can see why Pogba loses possession so much when he literally has no movement in front of him, sick of him moaning at players like when he moaned a Pogba for not getting his attempted flick on in the box Pogba could’ve left last week and he still wouldn’t of made that it was so poor.

Took a nick off the defender, and swung in late because of the spin. Not much he could do there really. Tough one to control.

You're kidding, right? I could have controlled it better than that, let alone a 75m striker.

Even Mourinho said he was getting too big a few months ago. I don't think it's the club that's doing it.

But shouldn't they tell him something? Like "We are playing football this isn't a BodyBuilding competition".

Wth is happening with him. Is he even trying? Rubbish effort.

Lukaku of last season have so much zeal in his play, as if he's always aiming to prove a point.

This Lukaku is losing his head. Lazy bum.

Some of the criticism is way over the top, on form he's certainly good enough for us.

However this is getting silly now, he should be dropped/rested and then made to earn his starts again through sub appearances. We desperately need competition for him in January

We need to start looking for a striker too. Lukaku will have his moments but he will never be good enough as a starting forward for a club like United.
