Can Lukaku stop play with balls, to slow games, it is pointless, it's his job to score, Sanchez or Pogba could pass if he flicked and run in behind. Hope Lukaku will improve his control with balls when run, he'd be monster.

I don't particularly like his game but his attitude is converting me. Starting to feel like a proper Utd player, who fights for the shirt, limitations and all.

It was a smart finish and his tracking back after McTominay’s hospital pass at the end was great. That said, his overall game was lacking, especially in the second half on the counter.

This place, the lads just scored one more PL goal than Drogba playing mostly for poorer teams. He doesn't have to be like anyone else than himself and still young but can see he's already improving since been here. People need to focus on positives rather than negatives sometimes.....

Wish we had more players on the pitch with mentality like Lukaku's. Absolute warrior like performance.

Slowed us down in attack. Clumsy in possession. Nice running back towards the end

That bit at the end, had me thinking Rooney was playing for us again

His attitude is second to none. that's the main reason I love him.

He's also a damn good striker. Always alert in the box and with a great combination of pace and strength. The fact he's not the most graceful of the lot, does not bother me one bit.

I’ve said before he’s not world class, but his attitude sure is. He’s doing his job, the other attackers not so much. I used to think he’d never be good enough for a title winning team, now I’m starting to think he’s one of a few of our players who actually are good enough.

If we had others who consistently chip in with goals and assists he would get much more space. Now he seems to be our one and only route to goal, so he will have games where nothing goes his way without it necessarily being just his fault. We need more players to help out with the goals.

Off to a cracking start isn't he? I don't understand some people, each player is different there is no style that makes a player "world class". All he really needs to do is to be a bit more clinical and put them away more often. He could be burying a lot of chances that so unnecessarily is being wasted, but he is not alone in that currently.

He has his flaws and I don't think he was good today bar the goal.

But you can't fault his effort. He has a great attitude.

Great attitude, but then we already knew that. It seems harsh, but I do just wish he could have the occasional moment of magic and convert opportunities like the one Sanchez presented him with - it wasn't easy by any stretch, but it does seem like top strikers have a handful of goals every year which involve that level of difficulty. Anyway, I'm being nitpicky - he scored; we won; things are looking much better these days.

Considering Chelsea won the title with Diego Costa as their main striker, I think Lukaku can at least be that good.

Plus Lukaku carries less of the attitude that Costa ultimately did.

Have to say, I've loved his attitude ever since he's moved to United. He's a leader and that counts for a lot.

If he improved his finishing and started finding the net against the bigger teams then he could lead us to a title. Time is on his side, though. He has all the other non-technical attributes and is a likeable guy on and off the pitch.

He doesn't link up well with Sanchez, something that he needs to take priority first to improve. I watched Sanchez made some of good run & movement but Lukaku couldn't release the ball earlier, keep killing our counter attack.

Costa isn't just a power & pace, he got technique and he is way above Lukaku in technique. It's unfair comparison.

In the league? No chance. He'll hit the inevitable drought soon enough, and up at around 20. Hope he can get above, but my money would be on 18 or 19.

I'd be surprised if he gets more than 20 in the league.

I'd even be tempted to wager a bottle of whisky on it

Sorry, should have been clearer. I meant 30+ goals in all comps.I don't think he's ever done that before.

Lukaku's work rate, attitude and goal scoring is all phenomenal; however, I just can't see us ever challenging the elite teams with him upfront. Technically he's very cumbersome, his awareness at times is very poor and he really doesn't gel well with our sharp, incisive other attackers. Put an Aguero up top then our attaching play would be so much better! Personally would rather Sanchez up top with Lingard and Martial/ Rashford playing off the left! I appreciate this will never happen regularly under Mourinho though!

If United possessed a really great winger or wide forward (someone like Bale, Ronaldo a few years ago, or Hazard) and played a 4-3-3 then i honestly think Lukaku is good enough to occupy the central striker role. He'll never be a flashy player and will probably never be the star man in the team but I think he will have a decent career for us. I don't think his form has been all that good at the start of this season and yet he's still got 4 goals in 5 games and I fancy him to get a couple more in the champions league this week.

It's impossible not to like or even love him and this despite his weird technique on the ball. He is such an important player with his workrate and goals, without him we'd be truly fecked.

This! Lukaku is one of my favorite players these days - such a fantastic character to boot.

With that attitude leading from the front we’ve got a great chance.

How many other after strikers would sprint back like that at 90 mins to make a tackle? no wonder Mourinho loves him.

Yes he has his flaws but he’s scoring and working his ass off, can’t really complain.

He's scored half of our goals so far. He's carrying the attack and has been carrying it for quite a while now.
