Did what he's here for once again!
Honestly I don't care about him contributing to the play that much - we hve players like Pogba, Martial, Mkhi, Mata etc to do that. He is here to score goals (in critical situations) and he's done that so far - so for me, more than I could ask from a No. 9!

Keep it up lad!

First clear cut chance and goal. That's what we want from him.

No joking here, insanely clinical striker in front of the goal.

Held the ball up really well today which helped us counter attack towards the end. I wonder how many goals he'll get?

He did very well for Martial's goal, he attracted 3 of theirs to him which left them exposed behind.

Today is a prime example of what we missed last season and why lukaku even if playing poorly can give us.

80 mins of doing pretty much nothing then 1 chance and it kills the game off, 3 points in the bag. Lovely. That is absolutely awesome.
For that alone he is my MOTM.

Poor delivery made him invisible for the 80 minutes of the game but when opportunity finally comes knocking he's there to take it in the most clinical manner.

4 goals in 3 official matches for UTD, great start to his UTD career.

Was quiet today, and people will continue to focus on his sprints, how many touches he has, etc, but we bought him to score goals, and that's what he does.

4 goals in 3 games.

Gets a chance and gets a goal. That's what we need and that's what he gives you. Love him. Although, as discussed post match in the Sky studio he needs to show a little more movement off the ball. That will come I'm sure.

Clinical finish for his goal, didn't really get involved a lot in the first half but made better runs in the second.

His threat in behind and hold up play is really helping us kill off teams once we are 1 up. Obviously his finishing is great and he is an additional aerial threat from corners and this (along with Matic) is causing us to be really dangerous after years of looking limp on them.

As Henry pointed out he can improve his movement quite a bit - if that clicks for him he will be such a great striker for us.

Has virtually no service all game long, then gets his first clear chance late in the game and bang. No doubt whatsoever that he will bury it.

Already has the physicality of Mark Hughes and the clinical finishing skills of Ruud. And he will get alot better over next 18 months

It's almost impossible to predict how many he'll score this season but what is certain is he will get clear chances in every game he plays.

That will come through a combination of personal improvement and better understanding between him and his teammates. It's going to be very exciting watching that develop over next 2 years.

This might have been a game we drew last season. Where Lukaku was, somebody else last season probably misses, then Swansea go the other half and equalise.

I kept seeing that he was bully of smaller teams. But this is the problem we had last season, drawing to smaller teams we dominated (but only scored one against) like West Ham, Stoke, Swansea, Arsenal, etc.

So good to have somebody who wants to be in the box and is clinical when its on his left foot.

I see what you did there :wenger:

He does look clumsy on the ball but if he continues to be this clinical then that won't matter. Still feel Ibrahimovic is being blamed a bit much for last season when in reality our other attacking players (Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Martial etc.) were just as bad at finishing at times.

When he got his chance I had absolutely no doubts he was going to score. Great having a striker like that. Hold up play was lacking today but the movement was decent. With the way everyone is scoring, I wonder if the finishing drills he's been inviting the team to join in with are paying off!

I couldn't be happier with our new striker. You just know he guarantees loads of goals for quite a few years.

Anyone following him on Instagram? His story celebrating Bailly's first goal for United is hilarious. Team spirit definitely very high.

Took his goal well and surprisingly, worked really hard off the ball. I remember him being quite lazy at Everton. He seems to have settled in well already too which is a relief.

I didn't watch the post match stuff but interested to see and hear the things people are saying Henry said? Also were there clips shown where he could have done more, movement-wise?

Drogba used to be exactly like that. Clumsy with the ball at his feet but a real beast when charging, heading or striking. Drogba later became more comfortable with the ball at his feet. He even started dribbling well sometimes.

As long as Romelu stays clinical, not sure people will worry much about anything else.

Rom is a better goal scorer than Drogba though. Drogba was better at holding up the ball and putting himself about.

I'm a big fan and think he'll do the business for us.

You can't go overboard with today though. That's a sitter for any top level striker.

He was living off scraps for the majority of the game and took his chance well.

Did very little today until he popped up for the goal, which is an encouraging sign. Sure it's nice to have an all-dominant striker that can do everything, but a striker who only needs one chance to punish you is something else. He's going to score well this year.

Great assist by Mkhitaryan too.

He was very quiet today but when you're scoring goals that doesn't really matter too much.

I felt this about a lot of Ibrahimovic's chances last season, and he missed a lot of them. It's refreshing to have a truly good finisher up front, long may it last.

Totally agree about his threat in behind but do you really think his hold up play has been good? I thought he really struggled with that in the first hour or so. Won just 2 headers all game and he had a passing accuracy of 53% (i.e. he made less than 10 successful passes all game).
