Martial is just 2 goals away from Lukaku with considerably less no of minutes...
Score.. Rom.. Score..

I'm not saying he is Valencia .. not that he can't use his right foot. Nor am I saying he needs to dribble with his right foot.

It's just the way you run at players, if you're not that agile then you need to have some element of surprise in the way you carry the ball.. most of the top strikers they can go either way when they're dribbling at a player and in a central position that is really important especially at European level. The way he runs at players is predominantly drop right shoulder and go left. Not saying he always does this, but most of the time he does and whilst Messi can get away with that as he is a god and also plays deeper.. someone like Lukaku doesn't quite get away with that.

Pretty much most top strikers are very multidirectional and that is inspite of whether they favour a particular foot to dribble with the ball (which nearly every player does for that matter unless you're Nedved). It is more easier to adapt your body position when facing a Lukaku than facing a Suarez or Lewa. You shift too much one way and they have zero hesitation going then other.

Well in the game last night he created a shot on goal by going left (just wide of post about a minute after bad miss) and by going right (double save by Gomes)

Plus, overall, his ratio of strong:weak footed goals is as good as, if not better than, any other striker in the league and it all looks like you’re looking for flaws that aren’t really there. The vast majority of strikers have one foot they favour. If anything, Lukaku is less one-footed than most.

Lukaku was so great at the start of the season. Now he is almost unrecognizable infront of goal. It's so long since he scored an important goal for us. Really miss him scoring in every game. Thank God our other players are getting goals and winning us games this season, otherwise the pressure on Lukaku would have been horrible.

I had worries when he joined that he was quite a streaky striker. Score a high number of goals in say 6-10 games then go through a dry spell. You can't do that at a top club, you need to be scoring close to every game especially if your playing upfront on your own and you have big weaknesses in the build up play.

He's very poor with his back to goal for a top striker and he can't carry the ball to save his life. He's lacking confidence at the minute so hopefully he scores at the weekend before the derby.

Against Brighton and Basel he was wearing adidas (white boots) so it might have been adidas again but from this and this picture it looks like there's a swoosh on it so Nike? In September he was rotating boot brand so I assume that is still the case.
Cheers. Definitely looks the Nike tick has been covered up. Strange he doesn't have a deal sorted yet.

Yeah I've been saying it for a while actually, when it comes to the heavier than normal size/frame the balance has to be perfect otherwise it affects aspects of his game such as his touch, movement and agility. It's called physics.
I think you are clutching at straws. His physique has little to do with him not scoring which is what matters the most for a striker. If you have other expectations then it is you own fault for being ultimately disappointed

Fecking wasteful with that incredible chance Lukaku had last night...

Inexcusable from him.

Can we just appreciate that this is literally an open goal, he receives it and Gomes is practically in line with one post. Why he doesn't just stroke that in with his first touch I don't know. His confidence in front of goal is shot.

Weight is a massive factor when it comes to peak performance actually.

Nah, weighing less won't suddenly turn him into the player he has never been and by that I mean one who has a consistently great first touch. He's scored plenty before, played much better, all of it at the same weight. Clutching at straws is what it is. Looking for anything to explain you probably don't like him as a player.

Reminds me of one of his last few goals where he got it in a similar position, dithered but then smashed it in. Thinking he was trying the same thing...

Still not convinced he's got what it takes to thrive here.
Me neither. Although I want him to do well 'cos he seems like a nice guy. But he is still a mid-table level striker. He ain't no RvP.

I agree with this. People are very creative with their criticism now, they keep on moving goal posts and invent sstuff to have a go at players (not having go at raees, just in general).

How anyone can say Lukaku is very one footed player is beyond me when he has shown so many times he has a powerful shot with right foot. Obviously he doesn't have quality like Kane who can shoot superbly with both feet but using weaker feet is least of concern for Lukaku. For the open goal he missed, it's lack of awareness. He wasn't aware of Watford player who nicked the ball, he should have gone for first time shot.

Lukaku is clearly overweight, According to google stats, he's 1.91m and 94 kgs which gives him a BMI of 25.2 and a normal BMI is between 18-24. He needs to lose a bit more of those pounds so he can be more agile and control the ball with his feet which may give him a better first touch. That is not taking the fact, that he's a bad striker, he is a good striker because he's consistently gotten 20+ goals every season but he lacks any technical skill on the ball and the ability to be a world class striker.

According to google Messi's BMI is 24.9. Hazard's is 25.4

Well they are all clearly overweight, but Messi and Hazard have skills and technical ability while Lukaku doesn't. I simply think losing a few Kilos may improve his dreadful first touch.

BMI is a very very flawed concept.

Genuinely think this might be the worst post ever made on this site.

Good lord. It's absolutely unacceptable to not score from that chance. Why didn't he just use his right foot?

Losing some weight might improve his agility, but I don't know if it would improve his first touch. Do you have any examples to back that up?

End his life @Zarlak

That missed chance actually tells a whole lot about him, his extreme lack of agility and ability to turn and put his weight on the right foot. Clumsy, slow, lack of technique. He should have turned and blasted with his right foot on the first touch, but he is painfully one-footed in these situations. He also really needs to practice on shots a la Martial’s goal this week, he has had a couple of big chances wasted in his brief time here.

Find it rather sad that most are talking about his lack of technique and basic football abilty, he is a 80M player after all, we all expect much more.

At the start of the season he wouldn't have been making those mistakes. Let's not just use his bad form as the benchmark here

He's got no confidence atm and his lack of lateral footballing intelligence means he's suffering badddly in our unorganised attack.

The whole body weight and agility thing is exaggerated. I think personally he could be leaner but look at Young's and Martial's goal; both times iirc he turns on a sixpence and creates that opening.

What is lateral footballing intelligence?

In this context, I mean Lukaku needs to be concentrating on doing the basics to improve his team mates and therefore his own game. To get a hold of the ball and pass it back to a team mate should be his priority and more important than trying to simply win the ball, flick it on, win a header or seek a chance i.e go for the 2nd or 3rd ball. Put forward the motion that helps build up play.

Do you not watch us? He was key in the first goal and third goal vs Watford. Also his cross for Rashford for Pogba’s goal vs Newcastle. He is quite key to most of our goals.
