This still doesn't feel right. Surreal seeing a club being auctioned to the highest bidder in this way.
The Saudi Media is not fecking around!
2.7bn in pound sterling is their apparent bid, not sure if that works out as 3.5bn dollars. That sounds like total BS.
Actually Putin went on a rant today about rich Russians who live abroad, how they were trying to divide the Russian people, and implied they were trying to kill him. It was a really weird, borderline hysterical rant. Not really, Just stating the facts which are undeniable.
Actually, if anyone would develop the entire area around Stamford bridge it is the Saudis. They are both good at, and well-known for projects like that. That sounds like total BS.

There isn’t a penny of money associated with Chelsea that has gone towards Russias invasion. Even if you wanted to use Chelsea for such a thing it would be laughable. The papers in your country sell sanctions that way for some reason, but it isn’t true. Sanctions are a mechanism to create internal pressure on the aggressive regime. Sanctions involving things like SWIFT can affect a country’s war ability directly, but those are a completely different level from these private sanctions.
Why is UEFA refusing to shut off Russia’s access to Champions league games, but refusing to let Chelsea sell tickets?
Roman assigned a 3rd party to sell the team. He assigned a group consisting of people from the US and UK to use the net proceeds for aid in Ukraine. He doesn’t even control that. He is completely cut off from the club. So what, exactly, is the justification for turning punishment screws on Chelsea?
Apparently U.S. divisions of Evraz are considering legal actions at this time. America asked its Allies to carefully structure sanctions so that they directly impede Russia’s ability to make war without grossly setting back the advances of globalization. In your zeal to get rid of an oppo football team you don’t like, you took a shotgun to things as far reaching as the pensions of workers in places like Portland and Colorado. The first fully solar, renewable steel mill is in danger of going under… so… good job

Roman put an AMERICAN 3rd party in charge of choosing the next owner, genius. And he’s battling to NOT get 1.5 billion owed to him already…Roman was perfectly safe in Tel Aviv. Putin said “lived”. We don’t know why Roman is there. We do know he has NOT gone anywhere near Putin yet. We know that Putin started his crazed rant a few hours after Roman landed in Russia. We also know, from direct sources, that Putin at least believes EVERYONE, including his closest generals, would kill him given opportunity. He won’t let people within 30 feet of him, even in meetings.Rich Russians who live abroad......
Roman is currently under Putins protection in Moscow.
Says it all right there.
Also, he never said a penny was going to Ukraine.
Roman is as guilty as Putin, even if its by association.
Chelsea FC have not once publicly condemned the attack on Ukraine.
Instead, they asked for Sanctions to be placed on their opponents because it isn't fair to them to, to not allow profiteering from war and funding Roman and Russia.
That is why, the sale of Chelsea should see zero money going to Chelsea or the owner.
Furthermore, it wouldn't surprise me, if somewhere deep behind the Scenes, Roman has an involvement in the purchase by any foreign buyers, who may be sympathetic to Russia.

We also know NONE of that has anything to do with Chelsea football club now. We DO know he said the net proceeds should go to “end the suffering in Ukraine”, so you are just mistaken there. And for those jaded enough to think he meant aid to Russian troops… again he put people from the UK and US in charge of deciding the charitable dispensation of this money.
None of what you just said makes sense. They got their money from a guy forced to sell his Russian oil company back to the state two decades ago. Correct. So what? You guys approved his ownership. He said no such thing and you know it.
Nothing to do with Chelsea?
You need a fresh in where Chelsea got their money from to buy the last 20 years.
You also still fail to admit, Chelsea FC have not condoned the war. Why is that?
This is why Chelsea right now and some of their fans are really being highlighted in a very very poor way.
You also seem to be unable to grasp any of this yourself.
I now will no longer converse with you.
No it's not.It definitely feels like the government, and people like you and Carragher, just want Chelsea to suffer. And that’s just wrong.
There is a Steel Mill in Pueblo Colorado that produces rail grade steel from recyclable scrap using arc smelters and 100% solar energy. It is a technological marvel and part of an industrious hope for the future. The employees are hard working, decent people. No it's not.

If you believe the UKs assertion about control, then they are owned by Roman Abramovich.
Do they deserve to lose their jobs? Their pensions? The nest eggs they e built up working for the company?
You can say it’s different, but it really isn’t. Chelsea is a UK entity that the UK government allowed to be purchased by a Russian investor. They have built arguably the best academy for English talent in the country. They do good work. They are not responsible for any sort of aid to the Russian invasion. And Chelsea fans have a right to be frustrated when people imply differently.
This is disgusting to be fairActually, if anyone would develop the entire area around Stamford bridge it is the Saudis. They are both good at, and well-known for projects like that.
I find the lack of self awareness from some Chelsea fans really strange.
Despite everything that’s happened some seem to be demanding sympathy whilst still peddling the line that RA shouldn’t seemingly be sanctioned.
Then you have a kind of happiness at the potential of the club going down the Saudi route, basically as they feel it will give them more money and continued success. It’s crazy.
You’d think after this some would place morality higher up on the list but it’s quite clear to some that doesn’t exist and it’s just a case of wanting as much money as possible quickly.
Really horrible.
Premier League final in RiyadhSo it'll be between the Emirates and the Saudis for the PL trophy in the next decades. Wonderful.

What is wrong with having Saudi owners that are not directly linked with government activities? In this case, one would prefer them over the Americans. If you want to look at human rights abuses, the Saudi's are playing in the mini leagues compared with the US. So point invalid.
You say that but we had plenty wanting Saudi to take over united. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that some Chelsea fans would.
It's scandalous if it's allowed but we all know society looks the other way. F1 going ahead this weekend proves that.
Again, very unlikely this would be the case for high profile businesses/organisations in that country, considering the regime. And "very unlikely" is putting it mildly. What is wrong with having Saudi owners that are not directly linked with government activities? In this case, one would prefer them over the Americans. Guilty by association, as they say.
Still waiting for Chelsea FC to publicly condone the war and attack on Ukraine.
I know the club has a bad rep, but I wouldn't expect them to start openly supporting wars.He said no such thing and you know it.

Exactly. just look at the many “you big clubs just don’t want competition, you want to keep the status quo” nonsense that was parroted by every single Chelsea fan on here when anybody dared question their spending and Romans ownership. No I agree. I just find it strange given what’s happened to them in particular and how the mask of the past 20 years have come off.
Sky interviewed some match day fans the other day and the general theme on RA and how he has been exposed was “well we’ve won everything over the past 20 years so can’t be all that bad”.
Oddly that’s echoed here when you’d expect there would be some embarrassment and apology.
It’s this persistent defiance I don’t get.
Presume you mean condemn rather than condone.
Well...............

Do you think TT, the players and fans have dirty hands? The money that was used to buy Chelsea and has been used to turn them from nobodies into league winners all comes from Putin's regime. The wealth that has created for both Abramovich, his backers, their sponsors, and by extension Putin's government has allowed investment into Russia and by extension again, it's armed forces. The plastering of Russia over everything to do with Chelsea has softened the investment climate and allowed Russia to raise its profile on the international stage. It's a process that's taken place over years and Chelsea is a small, but relevant piece of that.
So the sanctions may be focused on turning the screw on Putin's inner circle, but don't give me that crap that Chelsea has clean hands in all of this.
They choose willingly to associate with it, so they aren’t completely innocent.Do you think TT, the players and fans have dirty hands?
Everybody associates with Chelsea. Utd gave Abramovich £80m for Mata and Matic. They choose willingly to associate with it, so they aren’t completely innocent.
I’m not even sure the U.K. government is going to want a score as big a PR goal as it would, auctioning the oligarchs club off to the Saudis.
They’re all about optics and right now they’ve got the backing of everyone apart from one fan base.

So I'm guessing you refuse to celebrate United goals scored by Matic or Mata out of principle then? They choose willingly to associate with it, so they aren’t completely innocent.
