Roland Garros 2010

Murray spanked Nadal the last 2 times they met on HC's. Nadal is a non factor on HC's against fit Delpo,Murray and Djoko.

Nadal lost on the HCs to Murray when he wasn't a 100%. He has won loads of important HC events including the Australian Open.

Slowly slowly he has become a complete tennis player.

When I saw the draw, I had a bad feeling for Roger because of Soderling. The guy eats top players for lunch.

Sod was immense....

Thought the rain delay in third upset Fed's rythem.... Upset now

He's gone hungry the last 12 matches against Federer. Prior to the match, there was nothing to suggest he would upset the form book, but he was immense today, and Federer was well below par. And when a guy like Soderling's on form he takes some stopping because of how hard and flat he hits.

Yeah some of Soderling's returns today were absolutely excellent

Should be routine really, Federer will beat Soderling in straight sets.

That's both you and Mehro who has to eat your words regarding Söderling.

Mehro dismissed Söderling this year claiming last years RG was a one off.

Well played from Söderling today, and Federer loses out on a semi in the first time in ages. He's getting older. Still the best though, ever.

Thing with the way Soderling plays with all the winners he tries to hit is he will make a lot of errors. On a day when he isn't hitting it clean like he did today he'd have lost easily.

He could easily have a bad day against Berdych and lose that match. I think that's what stops him from being a slam winner. The lack of consistency. He has improved a lot since his Nadal win though.

Ill happily eat my words, im not a great fan of Federer so im glad Soderling won, sounds like he fully deserved it so fair play, he has made a carear of choking against Federer before a balls even been hit in the past hence my prediction....im pleasantly surprised at the outcome just a shame I bloody missed it.

Nadal will still walk this event though, with or without Federer theres only 1 winner.

I'm glad he was knocked out. Its not good for Tennis for one person to dominate like he has.

It's definitely not good for tennis because it prohibits other good players from collecting well deserved slams (namely Roddick) but the man truly is a legend. He is undoubtedly the greatest tennis player of all time and we will not see such elegance and perfection on court for a long time. It sure as hell isn't fair but he truly deserves everything he has achieved.

It's better than that bulbous hamster winning things.

Not really. I prefer a McEnroe/Borg/Connors or McEnroe/Lendl or Becker/Edberg or Sampras/Agassi type etc dual at the top. One person winning everything takes the fun, drama, and anticipation out of it, because you know exactly whats going to happen.

Yeh but Federer doesn't look like a mishapen rodent.

Federer still has one or two GS left I think.

US and another Aussie perhaps.

He'l probably win the Wimbledon as well. Only nadal (and Maybe Roddick if fit) can really challenge him on grass.

USO is a hard one to call. If Del Po comes back he would be among the favorites. Nadal just can not cope with the American hard courts after a long tiring season, his knees just give way.

So it will be Fed or Del Po or maybe Soderling? Djokovich always tires out at the end of the season too so can't see him doing anything of importance and Murray is ...well Murray. He'll bottle it.

The clay works for Soderling. He's not really improved too much on the other surfaces though

Wow. Weird thought Nadal would be quite a ways back. He has been injured and didn't win a tournament for a year until last month.

Well that's where he's lucky.

He did not play Queens or Wimbledon last year so he's not defending any points at either of those 2 tournaments.

He also missed some American masters.

So anyway even half decent performances in Wimbeldon and Queens will almost certainly give Nadal the Number 1.

A win on Sunday guarantees that ofcourse.

That's where the point system is flawed.Losing more points when you fail to retain your title ? pff, that's a shit idea but I can see its purpose.

Nadal might be a set and 4-3 up but he's not played well today at all. Soderling will eat him up on this form if both of them make it to the final.

Vamos Rafa!

He's the biggest bottler in mens tennis, after Roddick.

Credit to Melzer he hung in there and did well. Nadal should make it to the final now..
Soderling will be a worry

Certainly Murray is more of a bottler then Roddick, Roddick is one dimensional and shit for the most part.

Well when he gets to the finals and plays Fed he just bottles it, like the Wimbeldon last year.

All those set points to go 2 sets to love up last year. Pathetic.

I actually wish Federer had won yesterday. Beating Fed is routine for Nadal, beating Soderling won't be anywhere as easy as that :(

I just wanted another Fed-Nadal final. Another chapter in this orgasmic rivalry.

^^ Nope at the USO. Nadal just burns out by the time the American season starts. His knees can't take the running around on the hard courts there. He'l lose to a Djokovic or a Murray in the semis who will go on to bottle it against Federer in the final..

I can see a Nadal federer Final in Wimbledon though.

Sadly the way Nadal plays I think he is going to burn out on his career at some point before most modern players do. He is 23 and his knees are totally shot, he is an amazing player though, very good to watch when he is on form he is unstoppable.

William going out is the best thing about the day, everyone loathes her!

Lol at Dchoker.

Whatever happened to Gasguet? He used to be one of my most favourite players to watch. Talented as feck.

Fair play to Soderling and Stosur, superb stuff. Hope they win it now. Actually, I'd rather Schiavone, been good to watch some variety.

Lost to Murray in the first round. Was two sets to love up, as usual, and lost. Story of his career.
