Got to give Soderling credit. Over the course of the match he outplayed Federer. His groundstrokes were so heavy Federer never looked set to receive the ball, and even when he was, he wasn't in good enough form to do anything about it.
Federer in his peak would have beaten today's Soderling, but he's not at his peak anymore, and that makes him a mark for guys like Soderling. He looked to me like a bloke who knew he wasn't coming out of the match once it went to 2-1. He never looked like he could turn the momentum around and put Robin on the back foot.
Hard to see anyone stopping Nadal now. His movement still looks a little short of what it was pre-injury, but he'll prove too much for Soderling (or anyone else) on clay, I would have thought.
