I heard he was in the dressing room winding up the lads saying "remember when we beat you 8-2"

I heard that, he gave his team mates a wistful and haunting a cappella version of Boyz II Men's 'The End of the Road' - in the changing rooms after the game.

To the Gordon McQueen thread.

I've read reports that he did cartwheels down the tunnel screaming "UNITED!!!"

I heard reports of him singing,

U-N-I-T-E-D
if you don't sell me
I'll leave for free,
with a knick-knack paddywhack
give Fergie a phone,
Old trafford will soon be my home.

And then he proceeded to knack his hamstring.

Don't know if this has been mentioned - RVP came on as a sub after about 70 mins - and looked completely uninterested according to some Gunners-friends I have. He hardly bothered to move according to them...

Arsenal were really good though - without him

Mancini has said he want more players but refuses to say who his targets are. I have a feeling they will somehow get rid of Tevez,Adebayor and sign RVP for crazy money.

Reminds me of when we signed Berbatov. Deal cannot be that close if he is getting game time. Arsenal wouldn't waste their time preparing a player for us if he was on the verge of leaving. This could be a deadline day signing unless City do what they do with all their signings and pay anything.

Playing him is a show of strength. Leaving him out of the squad would be retarded. They want to show United that he is in their plans in order to push up the price.

That says more to me that he isn't confident on his targets: Mancini usually talks openly about players and then duly signs them.

It would fit the whole United transfer policy these days, bid for a player then drag it out and watch when Chelsea,City or PSG sign the player instead.

Quite

Not playing him would have concluded the negotiations. Giving him the captains armband was also to try and convince him he is still wanted.

It should happen. He can still demand a move to us over shitty if they do decide to get try nick em frommnder our noses.

Ive a feeling this may just happen pretty soon.

Reverse psychology at play here. Wink. He's gonna star at Arsenal :(

My feeling now is if this deal is not done before the start of play next week he won't be coming to us.

I think most of his suitors abroad will be reluctant to pay the type of fee being asked now, when they can offer him a pre contract in Jan. I think RVP would come to us now ideally, but if he was going to ask for a transfer he would have done so already.

The longer it goes on, the less chance we have imo.

TBH I really don't think we've ever had much of a chance.

I reckon Moura was the one we thought would be a "done deal" whereas RVP was more a punt on our part to try and get him on the cheap because of his contract situation.

But its fairly clear that Arsenal won't sell to us for the sort of money we want to pay for him and I really doubt we'll up our bid significantly.

I think a few signings will pop out of the blue, as if Fergie was on club business, and not with RVP, then maybe its other targets, and he doesn't want a repeat Lucas situation.

We will be present-less during christmas again unfortunately... The first snowflakes have begun to fall and caftards are still looking out the window begging for santa not to forget them this year...

well Kagawa was a pretty good present on its own, so would a fit cleverly, Anderson and Rio

I really don't think the Arsenal board will reject 20m for a player who'll leave on a free in one year even if it upsets Wenger. 20m is pretty much as much as they could expect to get given his contract situation. I also think they might be forgetting that City won the league last year and will start this season as favorites - and yet they're happy to sell to them...

I'd be more annoyed atm if RVP was a fantastic midfielder...

Have we offered £20m? Is there any suggestion we would offer £20m? That would surprise me i admit.

Never mind though, at least we have the comfort of David Gill claiming we can hope for 'a few players coming in' in the time remaining! :)

Juve have abandoned their pursuit it seems

Arsenal's refusal to budge on their £20million valuation on their wantaway skipper looks to have scuppered a deal with Juve now turning their attention to Llorente.

The Spain forward, who at 27 is two years younger than van Persie, is believed to have informed Bilbao of his desire to quit the club in search of Champions League football.

Reports in Spain suggest Juve have already failed with one bid in the region of £15m, but the club remain determined to sign the towering hitman who netted 30 goals in all competitions last season as Bilbao reached the Europa League and Copa del Rey finals.

“We are negotiating to bring Llorente here, but it’s not an easy process,” said Marotta.

Hardly surprising with the figures being bandied about! Especially when we consider that in only a few months they and other foreign clubs can negotiate with no fee involved should they decide to renew their interest.

It may help us in the short term by shortening Arsenal's options of who to sell him to. They may be hanging on hoping for a last minute PSG type bid from city. I can't really see many of the foreign clubs wanting to pay so much for him at this time.

If we have really bid close to £20 million then Arsenal should be biting our bloody hand off.
