Belgium (Listeni/ˈbɛldʒəm/ BEL-jəm), officially the Kingdom of Belgium, is a federal state in Western Europe. It is a founding member of the European Union and hosts the EU's headquarters, and those of several other major international organisations such as NATO.[nb 1] Belgium covers an area of 30,528 square kilometres (11,787 sq mi), and it has a population of about 11 million people. Straddling the cultural boundary between Germanic and Latin Europe, Belgium is home to two main linguistic groups, the Dutch-speakers, mostly Flemish (about 60%), and the French-speakers, mostly Walloons (about 40%), plus a small group of German-speakers.

Dirk Kuyt: ,,So generous of Robin to donate 30.000 pounds to my foundation.’’

Former Liverpool star and fellow Dutch international Dirk Kuyt has said a big thank you to Robin van Persie today for a huge donation to his Dirk Kuyt Foundation
by the Arsenal topscorer of last season.

Van Persie has donated all the price money – a total of 30.000 pounds – to charity when he learnt about the good cause of Dirk Kuyt’s foundation during his holiday in the summer with his Holland team mate.

Kuyt fights for young people with a physical handicap, who want to get involved in sports.

Kuyt, speaking at the Dutch training camp in Holland, was amazed by the generosity of Van Persie.

Kuyt said: ,,I have never known a professional footballer to donate such a large sum to another player’s charity. For Robin to win the topscorer of the year trophy in the English Premier League was really fantastic. But I find it even more astonishing that he donates alle the price money, which came along with the award, to the foundation of a team mate. It tells you a lot about the footballer Robin van Persie, but even more about the person Robin van Persie. I have know Robin for so many years, but what he is doing now is so special.’’

Van Persie and Kuyt spent their family holiday on the same Caribean Island this summer after the European Championships.

Van Persie said: ,,I got to know Dirk and his family a bit better and we talked about a lot of things in life. I admire Dirk for what he does with his charity. His foundation supports lots of young people with physical handicaps. I used to love sports when I was a kid. Dirk and I are lucky we have healthy children. But there are a lot of kids who need some support. We are happy to help them. And this is why I decided to donate all the money to the Dirk Kuyt Foundation.’’

I did, but I felt like being deliberately obtuse, mostly because there's no such thing as a Belgian language... ;)

Oh....I never actually knew that. How bizarre.

Thanks for the injection of useless knowledge. Big feck on your face for pissing on my (admittedly small) campfire of wit.

What's going on then? Fergie said he was having his medical today, so whats the delay?

Apparently they need to check his back again because it might be damaged from carrying the whole Arsenal on it for the past years.

Hehehehehehhehehehehehehe.

Hahaha, that's a good one. Surprised no one's come up with it sooner.

Hahahahahahahaha!

Why has no one come up with that joke yet? Thats genius.

What the feck is the problem? The infractions are just going to get more serious, this isn't twitter.

If my Geoff Shreaves joke was a small campfire of wit, then that joke is an ember at best.

Please....somebody make it stop! Think of Eboue's children for crying out loud!

Sir alex said it might go into tomorrow.....think they said on ssn that he was going to ot before medical. Think he had part of the medical and then had a sit down with the boss

Most Arsenal fans & players seem like complete childish cnuts. Why the hell are they like this? Is it a reflection of their manager or what? 'The Arsenal Way'.

I think it is a bit harsh to say that 'most' Arsenal fans are like this, I know many who sympathise with the situation in general.

Would love to see some of the reactions on here if Rooney did go to City or something similar, it would be just as bad.

Where'd you hear/read that? Seems a bit strange.

It makes sense giving his past injuries. I suppose we will make sure those will not reoccur to limit the chance of having a second hargreaves on our hands. Makes perfect sense

Apparently they are having the medical in two legs. The first at Carrington & the second one at Bridgewater, which I assume is tomorrow.

Maybe they're checking his left leg at Carrington but want to get his dodgy right leg checked out by the expert doctors at Bridgewater...

Sorry.

One of the most memorable goals of the PL era

You know what? I have ALWAYS thought RvP shinned that volley in, to the point where I insisted to my Arsenal-supporting mates that it was fluke.

But on closer inspection, through the red-tinted glasses I am wearing this evening, he clearly catches that ball sweet on the laces. Brilliant goal! :wenger:

How many times am I going to hear that crap again and again.

City to United is nothing comparable to what United is to Arsenal. Or rather shouldn't be and isn't for any half sane Arse supporter.

2nd point - City are our level right now, whereas we're on a different level to Arsenal. RVP's going to a better club simply, not to an equal one with more money.

Irrelevant.

So what you are telling me is if we sold one of our best players/captain to Arsenal (who are still ONE of our rivals) you wouldn't be pissed off about it?

If I was an Arsenal fan I would most likely be very annoyed at the sale of Van Persie to United too.

Fans I can understand, every club has some of those. But some of the more high profile Arsenal stake holders have been very irresponsible & immature with their comments.

I would be annoyed but it doesn't make the comparison right.

I would be mad if I lost my finger. I would be at wit's end if I lost my cock though. Not comparable.

Its been all over twitter. Apparently most of the tests are at Carrington they just go to Bridgewater for the scans.

It's because carrington doesn't have all the facilities yet. But they are building a hospital at carrington so we will soon be able to do all of our medicals there

What are you banging on about? :wenger:

I only made the Rooney to City comparison as it seemed a realistic option at the time.

Also, you seem to be underestimating the impact this transfer could potentially have on Arsenal as a football club in regards to publicity. What kind of signals is it sending out to the world/future players when they let their club captain go to United, a club who like I said is still one of their rivals albeit not the main one.

The Arsenal fans I have spoke to simply do not want their club to be seen as merely a feeder club to the league. If you cannot fathom why Arsenal fans are reacting in this way then I cannot help you.

It didn't take this deal for the world to see that Arsenal is consistently selling their best players.Whether it's to United or not doesn't matter cause at the end it's an important player lost anyway
