I am quite surprised too that after every injury he runs back to his motherland to recover. Is it a common theme with most foreign players? Is it because of the world cup? Or he is simply being a little bitch?

@alastair - Was it a common theme for him at Arsenal too?

He did it at Arsenal, yes, principally because there was a rumour he didn't rate our own staff to help him.

I don't know if you remember the horse placenta saga but that was when he went off to cure himself.

It's not uncommon. I read that Thiago also went to Barcelona despite Bayern having one of the most respected Doctors around.

A compilation of Van Persie's top 5 goals this season. Decided to go with his goal against Olympiakos as his best:

He is in Manchester?! Wasn't he supposed to be in Holland, getting treatment for his injury?

He's almost fit. And there has been a managerial change at the club that only had three managers the last 27 years or so, he works there (famous player) and it's kind of an unique situation. That's why is back.

I'm sure RVP often pops back to Holland...he can still be having treatment there now! it is only a short flight away.

Great to see him training with Scholes, I hope the new management keeps Giggs/Scholes around because the players have proved this season that they cannot handle change! of life without the old guard!

Pleased he came back today and got on the scoresheet. Looked happy to be playing again at last too. Said in his post-match interview, 'Giggsy has been "Sir Alex like" over the last week' and 'tape this interview. We will be back next season. I want to stay fit.'

He's not going anywhere guys.

Good fight from RVP, he knows how important he can be in winning the title (i.e. he can go for it on his own with his talent) under Van Gaal he'll continue to excel for us.

Still easily the best player at the club for me. Next season it's going to be fantastic, I would honestly make him the new captain.

RVP on MUTV said "trust me we will be back next year" with a HUGE smile on his face!

I wonder why he was buzzin and jumping on Vida's back. Van Gaal is coming.

He doesn't need game time at all after injuries in order to find form again it seems. Starts performing immediately after injury breaks! Our best player!

He's still got 18 in 27 this season. Ridiculously productive player.

25 goals in 31 (starts) + 5 (subs) if you include international games and the Community Shield match. And if you only count official matches and exclude the five obligatory international friendlies where you just try not to get injured, he scored 24 goals in 26 (starts) + 5 (subs) in an injury plagued season.

I heard somewhere, they say he scores when he wants :boring:

Classy cameo. I just knew he was going to miss that chance and then score, I swear I was expecting that to happen, it reminded me on his goal in preseason where he missed an easy chance and scored from rebound.

Looked fresher and had much better movement than we've seen in months from him.

Really starting to think that if Van Gaal gets the job that Rooney will be pushed out wide then sold in January or the summer after he complains and Van Gaal reacts as angry nutter geniuses tend to.

:D I can't help but love Van Persie. Easily the most talented and gifted striker we've had at the club (if you exclude Ronaldo) and just a cool guy in general.

Would be somewhat iconic if that's him pretty much confirming Van Gaal is coming in. Will be perhaps used in many a youtube compilation for Van Gaal's United reign in future.

Great to see him back with a goal last night. Hopefully has a decent tournament in Brazil.

Hadn't looked that happy all season. I really hope that sort of confidence and ambition is shared by the other guys in the team right because we are crying out for it.

Putting how crap we were with Moyes on the pitch aside, and the fact we are still a little shit, I think it's obvious that there is more than meets the eye off the field in regards to him.
