RvP is a king. Long live the king!

I'll gladly have sex with him.

He's comfortably the best striker in the league IMO. Could well prove to be the difference again in regards to the title.

And Van Persie showed the class that made him a back-to-back Golden Boot winner, hooking a shot into the corner to make him the first United player to score a league goal for someone other than Ferguson since Peter Davenport.
It is a measure of the former Arsenal man's prolific streak that it was his 75th league goal since January 2011, 26 more than any other player, who just happened to be Rooney.

If he keeps up this 2 goals a game maybe I'll have to change my 40 goal prediction! Amazing player.

Robin Van Persie scored (vs Swansea) his 75th and 76th league goals since Jan 2011, 26 more than any other player (Rooney on 50). Amazing.

He's only had 1 great season so far. A few to go yet.

That's not to undermine his achievement; essentially giving us the league single-handedly at his first try, just as Cantona did. Perhaps he is already close to being a Legend then, but when comparing him to RvN and the like, he has a small way to go yet (even though he equalled Ruuds Premier League record sadly for Ruud).

And to think some people on the Caf didn't want him

Let this be a lesson to you Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime who say "we dont need X world class player because he doesn't fit in"

I will never understand some posters. Reading through the Ozil thread it's like we're the only team in the world that wouldn't want him.. because "we already have Kagawa"

I think some fans get attached too much attached to the players rather than the club itself. Besides the world class players can be an inspiration for the rest of the squad, I'm sure Welbeck has learned a few things from RVP just by watching him every day.

Van Persie....it still doesn't feel fair having him, like we have somehow cheated the system. To think there was a fair bit of negativity on here when we signed him last year as well. Incredible signing and impact, it's going to be hard predicting what he will score this season assuming he stays fit.

Best forward in the world?

It's ridiculous how often he just fashions chances completely by himself and out of nothing. It's almost unfair.

I'm going to happily admit that I was one of the naysayers bemoaning the fact we'd gone for a big name striker instead of a centre midfielder last summer when Van Persie signed for us. I was wrong. I admit that openly, unashamedly and delightedly. Robin Van Persie is amazing. I know what he said at the end of last year about keeping the number 20 shirt cos the fans had invested in it but he should be wearing the number 7.

I think so, but then I don't watch the other forwards with the same regularity or interest that I do RVP. For me he offers that sense of total confidence and ability in front of goal that we haven't had since Ruud. He reminds me of Ruud and Van Der Sar in a way because in both those players they gave off this incredible sense of calm and confidence, and a level of expectation that you rarely saw them fall below.

I think forward is incorrect, striker is more fitting because he's a striker in the traditional sense. Considering that, he's probably the best yeah, couple of others push him close (including Rooney on his day) however, in terms of 'forwards' i.e. players who go out and attack and score, you can't not count Ronaldo and Messi within that term and he's just in that bracket below them.

So, is he the best 'striker' in the world, then yeah, I think he probably is.

I think even those who were overjoyed with his signing probably didn't expect the level of quality we've seen from him so far. It really is a shame that looking at how good he is now, age 30, he didn't have the fitness of injury luck in his earlier years, even if it would have been for Arsenal, he could have really been a very special player for the Premier League. He played 10 more matches last season than he did in any other, and it was the first time he was able to play every game.

Of course he is, who else even remotely close to his level is there in Premier League? Certainly not Giroud, Torres or Soldado. Suarez is some way behind too IMO.

Yeah I didn't even realize I had said forward, it's not even debatable if it's that given the freaks. Yeah it has to be striker.

It was actually Cina's fault. Blame him, I would. The striker/forward thing though is purely semantics, not really important, it's just about parameters and Messi and Ronaldo have to be discounted from the striker debate IMO. Just anomalies, freakish football monsters.

Yeah I should've said striker at the start, you can basically eliminate the big 2 from the question then.

It's between him and Falcao but I think RvP is doing it at a higher level and therefore inches it.

Van Persie's better than Falcao, comfortably. I think his record last two seasons, penalties excluded, was better than Falcao's.
