Roberto De Zerbi

It's us, isn't it? Why would he need be secretive if he was going to Bayern or Barca, who have already said ta ta to their managers. Guess we are just waiting for the FA cup final to finish to announce it.

What was Berrada's role at City? If true that they were looking at him to replace Pep, may be De Zerbi is his recommendation.

Ya i mentioned that guardiola has said he's staying but what managers say in public vs behind scenes isn't always the same. I think you're right on both counts and guardiola and ten hag will be here next season but it wouldn't shock me in either club takes on de zerbi

1. Reports that City were looking at him to replace Pep. (Berrada links)
2. Doesn't make sense for any other club to be secretive about hiring him.
3. He said he wants to be in the PL next year.

We def got schooled in the first half. Second half was almost cruise control for us so I wouldn't decisively say he got the better of Ten Hag.

checked with my naples supporting mate, he seems to think Milan. Naples are supposedly in talks with Gasperini.

Regardless of the result, every time we've faced De Zerbi's Brighton under ten Hag we've been outplayed, and yesterday was no different. They always pin us back in our half, move the ball better than us, create more chances. The biggest difference has always been we have more players capable of match winning moments, though. A lot of their players are guilty of missing big chances.

On the rumours, I'd welcome him here. Unlike most, my opinion on him isn't just based on his time here in England. I thought his Sassuolo team played very good football, too. I know @Rasendori also rated him before coming over to England.
 
I think De Zerbi would be a more successful coach at United compared to Erik. It feels like this United team haven't actually performed well for a sustained period, even the results last year it was pragmatism and hitting teams on the counter for large parts.

A coach like De Zerbi would bring a different dynamic to the table in that the teams performances would likely improve drastically over Erik, Jose and Ole. The only issue as others have stated is there's no plan B.

Agree, but four of those have been injured for what? 60 % or more of the season? They lost Trossard, Mac Allister and Caicedo in less than six month and did not spend to replace and suffered big-time from injuries this season.
 
Don't rate him and don't think it's us.

Unlike many here, I believe Ineos are being very professional with ETH and are willing to provide a structure above him, cut off the inefficiencies and trim up the squard before making a decision on him.

Nothing so far from the dressing room or club suggests ETH is unliked by either players or staff. That will be a big consideration for them as they wouldn't want to rock up the place too much. Already so many changes, I think that saves ETH job for one summer at least.

I just don't see how his results are strong enough to justify being linked to the kinds of jobs he's getting hyped up to take over.

Sassuolo were finishing 6th to 12th in the four years before he got there, and they finished 11th, 8th and 8th with him. Brighton were already shaping up to have a good season and were in the top four when Potter left (albeit very early on), so in that context taking them to 9th to 6th isn't really that impressive, even if you ignore that they've gone on to finish bottom half this year. The hype is so far beyond what he's actually produced.

Add to that his rotation for the sake of rotation (even for keepers) seemingly regardless of form, which I guarantee would drive us all mental in about two months and it's really difficult to see the appeal.

That you can explain, but their defensive organisation is another thing that isnt good enough. He had them play out from the back nciely, good combo and possession, but defensive setup remains a big headache. Too many high scorelines

That's all totally fair. I can't blame anyone for looking at actual league positions and lack of trophies when judging potential managers. I'm not saying that isn't important for me either but, personally, my focus right now isn't winning trophies (as crazy as that sounds for Manchester United). I want us to just start playing good football to start with, and looking beyond where his teams have finished, I've really enjoyed the football he's got his teams to play every season. The fact that he's consistently implemented the same style on multiple teams in different countries (though I didn't see his Shakhtar one myself but have heard good things) just impresses me more.

If he gets us playing the same way in terms of being able to pin teams back regardless of the oppositions level whilst creating plenty of chances, we will naturally do more than his previous teams because we will have the match winners they didn't to capitalise on that dominating style.

As for his lack of rotation, has it been that bad? I genuinely haven't noticed it as a problem. I feel like - for this season at least - it must have come down to the injuries they've had and juggling all the different stages of match fitness due to it because, last season, I felt like the majority of the teams positions had consistent starters.

Yeah, I'd love to have us actually control games in that way as well, and it does feel like we need a stylistic change to get back to competing with the best - but I think we need a coach capable of playing that way who has also had a bit more tangible success than De Zerbi has. That doesn't necessarily have to be trophies, but he's never had a season of real, undisputable overachievement in the way someone like Motta has had at Bologna this year for example.

As for his rotation, they've certainly had injuries, but that hasn't been the only factor in their everchanging lineup. I haven't seen them an awful lot lately, but the appearance numbers show they pretty much have 3-4 consistent starters and basically everybody else is subject to change.

I watched them quite a bit at the start of the season, and there were games where Joao Pedro would start, score, assist, link up play and pop up everywhere along the frontline... then next week he'd be benched with Welbeck starting in his place. For no apparent reason. Similar with Dahoud - saw him run the show in one early season match, basically never saw him again. Not to mention the situation with the goalkeepers where it genuinely seems like he flips a coin to see who's in nets this week.

Under the media glare that comes with managing a big club, these decisions would be under massive scrutiny.
 
I don't think Ratcliffe and co are to move on from ETH just yet, think the Milan shouts are right here.

He also said he loves coaching in the Premier league and would like to coach here again. Granted he might be referring to the distant future but I don't think its outside the realms of possibility.

Also if its Milan why the secrecy? Its pretty much the worst kept secret that Pioli is leaving, unless there are legal stipulations they need to untie with Pioli and his coaching staff's compensation.

I doubt Brighton pay their managers huge amounts so I don't think that rules it out really. He could also just have had a clause in his contract.

The talk about him not having a team lined up is obviously nonsense so it's starting to point in our direction a bit more, what with us having the cup final left. However, I'd still be surprised.

And Barcelona who he's also been linked to cannot even pay the groundsmen right now so that rules them out.

Can it really be us? Milan has no reason to hide it, do they?
 
It's no secret I wanted Tuchel but that was only as a bridge for the future manager in 2 years. De Zerbi would be even better as that would mean his style of football is what Ineos want us to play and his style is my personal favourite to watch.
