Robert Lewandowski

The telegraph suggests its us but nothing seems definitive:

His contract expires at the end of next season, leaving Dortmund in the unenviable position of having to decide whether to cash in this summer of risk seeing the 24-year-old leave on a free in 2014. Both Manchester United and Dortmund's Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich have been strongly linked with the Pole.
Reports in Germany today suggest they have opted for the former with the player's agent Maik Barthel suggesting Dortmund have sanctioned his departure.
"We have reached an agreement with a club and intend (him) to move this summer," Barthel told Sport Bild.
"There is a very interesting offer for Robert which fulfils entirely the demands set by Dortmund and also the demands of Robert. "Dortmund have assured us that Robert can move at the end of the season under these conditions.
"We stick to agreements and now it's up to the clubs to sort things out."

To reiterate, do you really think our club would let his agent act like this? Fergie has too much respect for other managers to let their agent announce to a national paper the day after a big win that he'll be leaving.

Its disgraceful really.

I think his agent really does what he wants. Watzke denied any formal offer for Lewandowski in todays papers btw.

That's true. We generally like to keep things hush hush.

Although we were pretty open about the RVP pursuit. But even with that one I think Arsenal spilled the beans first.

Thats agent power these days... Dont like it dont get the player.

That was after the season was over though, we had signed nani and Anderson before the season was over but we didnt announce it. The same was even true with Nick Powell but we waited until Crewe were done.

Zaha surprised me that we announced in Jan tbh. When we signed De Gea we even hid him behind a towel, im just not sure its our style.

I'd agree unfortunately.

Either that or Rooney's going to transition to midfield, which, though it may seem a possibility from the last few games, is highly unlikely I think. So I'll have to agree with you.. get the feeling he's Munich-bound but I think they want to minimize the talk before the CL gets over what with the Mario news also coming out.

But don't Bayern usually keep things quiet too? The Götze leak was unusual, and wasn't it suggested it was only to get Hoeness tax case out of the papers. Normally they do their transfer business quietly.

But then again on the contrary, we were publically following both Hazard and Lucas Moura.

I think it depends who is involved. If we clearly win the bid it stays quiet, but if other parties are interested then it reaches the press - we have hardly denied any speculation.

Did fergie not also talk recently about him too?

The telegraph suggests its us but nothing seems definitive:

Please let it be us. You have to consider that he wanted to leave at the start of the season, and iirc we were the only team to make a bid. Our interest is still there and we turned his head first. We might not pursue the deal with multiple bids but i think we have a good chance with this one.

Maybe Rooney will move permanently into central midfield, that's the only reason, other than him leaving for this transfer.

That's what I think will happen of we sign him. Whether that's a good move of not remains to be seen though. Do you think Rooney has the discipline to play the role of central midfielder? By that I mean control his impulses to drop either too deep or drift too wide when the ball isn't coming to him. Personally, I think Rooney would do a great job linking play, but he's not a ball winner, nor is he a destroyer. We've got plenty of creativity in Carrick and Kagawa, but nobody to break up opposition attacks upfield. We need someone in the Keane or Robson mould and I don't think Rooney quite fits that bill.

No confirmation on a transfer or anything from Klopp.

He expects Lewandowski to play at Dortmund next season, tells everyone to relax and be calm. "There are a lot of quality players that we are speaking to. We'll either have good players next season or bags of cash to replace them."

Certainly someone with ball winning abillites would have to be brought in to help Rooney and to assist Carrick next season.

Doubt it'll be us, this is not the way we conduct business and Fergie hates cnut agents such as this. We do it privately and with a great deal of class. Didn't Dortmund's chief say how professional we were in our approach for Kagawa?

I can see it now...

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael---Smalling---Jones---Evra
---------------Carrick---------------
-----Cleverley--------Rooney-----
---------------Kagawa---------------
-----------RVP--------Lewandowski

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

I'd rather Rooney up top and Gundogan in the midfield.

Seriously, another striker doesn't make sense at all unless Rooney is leaving or dropping to midfield. I'd rather him leave than be dropped to midfield.

When you put it like that..................it makes no sense at all.

I'd rather no new striker and just Gundogan.

Kicker.de saying that an English club has offered around 30m Euros for Lewandowski's services. BVB more willing to negotiate with English club than with Bayern.

 Klopp would be the dream replacement for Fergie on here. Our manager talking about 'bags of cash' would have the Redcafe server melting down.

I wonder if we could do a cut price deal for Lewandowski, Reus, Bender and Gundogan? Take them all off their hands with minimal fuss.

May as well take Hummels while we're at it surely? I'm sure there's a buy 4 get 1 free to be had.
