As he gets older, maybe Messi will just replace Iniesta as the most attacking of the midfield 3, but be even a little more attacking himself.

Neymar-----Suarez---------Mahrez
------------------Messi----------------
------Rakitic-------------------------
-------------Busquets---------------
Alba-----------------------Alves------
---------Pique----Mascherano--------

Guardiola does this sort of thing all the time at Bayern with a dribbling winger on the touchline to take advantage of the need for teams to stack the middle to deal with the possession there, and Lahm (in this case Alves) tucked in to hover in that sort of right channel space (there's some tactics word for it I can't remember. Half-zones, maybe? It's always in those Spielervalung or whatever articles).

That could be an option. However, if Messi moves to midfield, I think Barca would sign Dybala instead of Mahrez. Also, they would need a player like Verrati in midfield to be more balanced.

Well deserved PFA award for him. He has been very very good.
Tough luck to the Gunner fans who seem to be crying on many forums how Ozil has been better than Mahrez all season.

And talking about his transfer, regardless of how he feels, there is no guarantee that the club wont cash in on him if big clubs with huge money come by. The club might have different plans on whom they can buy to replace him with that money.
Having said that, I dont see Barca coming for him or any PL player in fact.

Yeah, Verrati playing in Rakitic's role would make a lot of sense there. I think if Mahrez went to Barca he'd be the plan B winger for them like Navas was for Spain a few years ago. I still think an aging Iniesta or even Turan or Rafinha or a signing like Pogba, Verratti or Koke would take over in 2-3 years when Iniesta becomes a back up or does the traditional Barca thing of taking blood money to play in Qatar.

Hearing a lot of links to Arsenal for Mahrez. With them seemingly trying to offload Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain it seems as though that's a deal that could happen unfortunately. Meanwhile there's been barely any real stories of us being interested, although we have got a little better at moving in silence in recent times with some deals so that doesn't mean much.

I have read about that too. A midfield of Sanchez, Ozil and Mahrez would be really good, so I hope they don't sign him. Unfortunately, I haven't seen information that link us with right wingers.

Quiet today. Showed glimpses of his talent though.

Lot of people on here want him for our right wing; isn't he a leftie? Or do we want to go down the inside forward road?

Likely to sign a new contract. To be honest, I'm not convinced. Maybe it's because I've seen him have too many quiet games.

His cut back is deceptively good. He's fooled so many players with that. Probably due to his low centre of gravity. He has also got a good right foot on him and is not at all afraid to go to the byline and cross with his right foot.
I like the idea of having inverted wingers on both flanks. It becomes a torrid time for the full backs to deal with if they are not very one dimensional.

They'll need more playmakers next season to remove some of the attention/coverage that Mahrez will otherwise receive, double barrel at close range, from defenses given an entire season to come up with schemes to shut Leicester's offense out.

Well, I'd say we want him doing whatever it is he's been doing for Leicester, which means right wing. Conveniently, that's where we have an opening.

I don't see either him or Vardy leaving this summer, unfortunately. Of the 'big three', Kante's the one who might go, and even that is by no means a certainty.

I'm a bit concerned about the quiet games he had. A bit too many for my liking although his stats have been great.

Yeah I see Kante leaving but Mahrez will stay I think for at least one more year.

This is concerning. Haven't really watched Leicester all that much except a few games here and there but he was definitely quiet in the games they had against us.

He was much better in the game at OT than the now in King Power.

I'm not sure about him for us. Ideally I'd like someone quicker.

I'd put him at top 3 on my shortlist. He's rather pacy, world class dribbler with great flair and vision. When you add his scoring ability, you'd be mad to turn him down. I've seen a few Leicester games this season, and Mahrez is taking a huge part in Leicester "team pressing" (then again, they're all working well when team pressing/defending).

I'd love to see Matrial as LM, and Mahrez as RM.

If LvG is there next season, there is no use taking Mahrez. He ll probably play too wide or maybe as a defensive mid and eventually get dropped.

In the recent game their entire attack was quiet, though. Their sole (albeit considerable) threat was from set pieces, which we just couldn't defend. What dangerous moments they did have from open play all came from Mahrez though.

Agree but I'd also like us to sign Mane and he would be my first option as his pace is such an asset. Maybe buying both would give us great options in the team, squad and off the bench.

I don't think we should sign him. Good player, but can he do it at the highest level? I won't sign any player from Leicester.

Are clubs able to directly approach players like that? I thought there was some law against it?
It'd be via the agent if it were to happen. Tapping up happens all the time and is never enforced, Madrid and Barca being the most brazen about it.

If someone comes in with over £40m, Leicester should cash in and concentrate on keeping Kante.

He's just so elegant on the ball. On the opposite side of Martial he would be fantastic. Ribery/Robben esque.

He's such a tease, anyone else feel he waits till the very last second possible to bang it in?

Dont think they will miss him much if they sell, this was an exceptional season for him and the team, while I think he could fit in a functional top team really well I dont think he will be that good next season for leicester again...

so its a question of when is the best time for him to leave? Now when he won the POTY and heavily contributed to the title or enjoy champions league football next season and playing around 8-10 spot in the league, suffering possible injuries and bigger dips in form etc.. one might suggest it is now. He doesnt look like Harry Kane who's mentality is top and doesnt seem to suffer from dipping in form and who is heavily backed by steadily improving team..

The last couple of months weve seen not really top class performances from Mahrez, he was good and at times still capable of magic but not as good as other bigger teams would think he could improve them, thats how I think it may look the next season with the loads of cup games..

That skill against Stoke to make the assist is absolutely disgusting. An elastico nutmeg

He's class. What players of a higher level are we realistically going to sign to play right wing?

He's so technically brilliant; he really does ghosts past players for fun, but I still have this niggling feeling he'd be a bit of a dud wherever he goes next.

Flog Depay for £10 million and bringing in this guy for £40 million would be excellent. Martial, Rashford and Mahrez as a front three is potentially very exciting

Rather see Januzaj come through than sign Mahrez.

I see the Twitter page has Liverpool listed as one of the clubs interested, amongst United Real Madrid, psg, Barcelona, city. Why do journalists bother including Liverpool as being interested any more than they should include Stoke. No player with that level of interest will even look at an offer from Liverpool, mits pathetic to include them

I would like to see Adnan in a creative midfield position - maybe in rotation with Pereira. I don't think they have the goals in them yet. Both have their own qualities but currently Mahrez has a great potential in the final third. We need players that are clinical. Him and Martial out wide would offer a good threat.
