£27m - That's what Fergie will have to pay to land Rio
Manchester United have launched the bidding war for England ace Rio Ferdinand with a £20m offer that Leeds have dismissed as derisory. Leeds sources says United's opening offer was rejected out of hand. And with the clubs heading for a deadlock over the fee, a compromise of £27m is being touted as the only sensible solution - otherwise there will be no deal. In a tense game of financial brinkmanship, Leeds won't drop below £35m, while United aren't prepared to go above £25m. Harry Harris

But who cares...the deal is done because Ridsdale cant be such an ass as to ask a player to think it over and then state.....RIO IS GOING NOWHERE!!

Ridsdale probably realised Ferdinand would ask to go and prepared a 'we've rejected the request' statement beforehand. It took him about 5 seconds after the request to issue his own statement
Anyone see Rio going back to training with Leeds tomorrow and off on their summer tour on the weekend? I don't.

Only a day or so ago you were agreeing with me saying you weren't concerned about how much we pay for transfers. What's changed?

Nothing. I'm not concerned, I'm just stating the fact that we will be forced to pay over the odds.
