Sell Martial to Juve, bring Dybala.
And who will be the right winger?Sell Martial to Juve, bring Dybala.
Weirdly I was thinking about this today and I do wonder if Dybala was purchased, I suppose he could operate the same way we use Mata. Starting point is the right but tending to end up more in central areas. I’d rather it was a 433 than the 4231 tho.And who will be the right winger?
I'll do it. I need to sign a contract sharpish though so i can get training because right now walking for 90 minutes would tire me out, let alone running.
Mahrez would have been a better signing than Sanchez (and that is even with the belief that he will eventually come good)
like we used Zlatan to teach Rashford to play striker......Robben on one year contract and during that period, learn rashford for that position.
Dybala is not a winger for sure. To waste him in the wing marking a full back is criminal. He is a SS. If we were in those 4-4-2 times he would be fighting for the Balon D'or.Weirdly I was thinking about this today and I do wonder if Dybala was purchased, I suppose he could operate the same way we use Mata. Dybala does tend to naturally drift more right or operate in that sort of area but a fear would be that he and Sanchez both like to operate quite narrowly so we’d lose that width unless we start to use fullbacks more offensively and get some that can do something in the final 3rd.
Matas not a winger either though is he? I don't think Jose wants two wingers, I think he wants a winger on the left and an inside right on the other side who'll get more involved in the midfield.Dybala is not a winger for sure. We spend the summer convincing Sanchez and training him to play on right.
He is much sharper, he is much more electric in his dribbling and much more confident. He scores goals again. I still believe on the right side he is much more clinical, since he has come back into this position he scores more goals.
He looks to me to be more comfortable in his movement, especially in his movement in behind. When he plays on the left, he likes to drift in then come back. When he plays on the right, his runs in behind the defenders are better.

It was good to see Alexis Sanchez score again last weekend. Most of the time it’s with the efficiency of his performances that you know the he is back to his best. He’s a striker who can have an impact on the game and since he’s come back on the right, I think he is more efficient. It is more natural for him than on the left. His game is a bit more predictable on the left. On the right he is unpredictable because he can go outside and inside. On the left he looks always to come inside and that’s easier to block.

As much as I feel like we don't have an out and out right winger, I'm starting to believe that having an overlapping right back that can deliver accurate crosses might be a better solution.
1. Douglas Costa.
2. Willian.
Bale is looking a player to avoid, even if he might be considered more of a striker these days.
Yes he is (or was) always at his best playing through the middle. His career at the top level looks to be over though.
Here's an idea why not just start now and tell martial to train as a right winger. Develop his game to fit our tactile system from the right. Play him...allow him to have a bad day or two while he develops then problem solved for free.
And before people say "he can't play on the right" that's nonsense. He's a technically gifted footballer who's young. He can be developed there he just needs to get sold on the idea and work at it.
It would also provide us with some much needed penetration as an orthodox wide man (I.e. right footed playing on the right) is more inclined not to want to cut back infield as the 'inverted wide men' do.
Also on the plus side i read the cafe, so i'll be able to improve my performances to perfection by reading the match day thread and the players performance thread.
Mahrez.
He’s still got to prove it at a top club and he’ll bring a style of creativity we sorely lack in our forward players (although Sanchez is definitely a creator in part).
Oh well. I'd better make an account on bluemoon and tell them in the new Maldini. Was going to invite you for a weeks trial but since you’re now quoting yourself I’ll move on.
Based on what? It seems to me the only reasoning for wanting this true winger is "just 'cause." Mata has been playing on the right for five seasons now; doesn't that mean that the management see him as a false right winger now, that they're happy with that type of player in that position? We don't need dybala....we need an actual right winger.
And? Our attack has been shambles in the last 5 years if anything. Mata is not good enough to start on the right in a title winning team. We do need an actual right winger, or if we do play a false right winger, we need someone who is better than Mata.Based on what? He has played well there and in a lot of the games an actual winger would have been worse for us. Take the Swansea game: Mata moved into the centre to match Clucas' movement towards the centre and their wingback was passed onto Valencia. This gave us a 4v3 in midfield and that helped us a lot for Sanchez's goal. An actual winger, for all his skilfulness, would have been less effective.

You seem to have gone from Mata is not good enough therefore we need an actual right winger. It doesn't follow. If your point is that we just need a better false right winger then what I said is no different to what you're saying: my point was that people have little basis for saying we can't play someone on the right who wants to move into the middle. I think they just want a touchline-hugger because that's what they are used to.And? Our attack has been shambles in the last 5 years if anything. I stated how useful he was coming in off the right and overloading the centre. Him being the ten and e.g. Gelson Martins playing on the right wouldn't have given us the same advantage. You’ve just stated how useful Mata was not playing on the right wing.
I just further explained in the same comment that you quoted you just ignored it. Mata is not good enough to start there. And I prefer we replace him with an actual right winger who would offer something different to what we have on the left. But since those type of players are rare nowadays, if we do stick with playing a right sided false winger, it should be a much better player than Mata. Bernardo at City is one of those players that could have played that role for us for exampleYou seem to have gone from Mata is not good enough therefore we need an actual right winger. I wasn't defending Mata. The person I originally quoted said we shouldn't go for Dybala because we need an actual right winger. So if you don't think we need an out and out winger we are not in disagreement.I just further explained in the same comment that you quoted you just ignored it. Agree with that, also think we should combine this with the purchase of Bale assuming he's relatively cheap, which will either see us pick up a world-class right winger that Martial can learn off or give Martial plenty of game time so he signs his new contract (ideally lots of rotation will give us the best of both worlds). If they're both too good Bale can move centrally. Here's an idea why not just start now and tell martial to train as a right winger. Develop his game to fit our tactile system from the right. Play him...allow him to have a bad day or two while he develops then problem solved for free.

Or we could have told Alexis he should play on the right, and switch flanks with Martial during the game like every team does. Here's an idea why not just start now and tell martial to train as a right winger.
