Richard Keys: The Ramblings of a Madman

sorry mate, this really made me laugh

Without Gerrard, we wouldn't have won the trophies that we did with him, he was far too important and scored in most of the finals i.e. Champions League final, FA Cup, 2003 League Cup, UEFA Cup Final etc.

I'm not talking about the comparison of quantity of trophies won between Roy, Souness and Stevie, mainly their impact and influence on winning the trophies they did.

Thought this was nice. 19:00 A young Patrick Vieira speaks very complimentary of Keane. Keys saying that the battle between the two could settle the game.

Oh God...

I’ve been quiet lately because I’ve been tinkering with my book, which I won’t now publish until I’m finished. Reading through it I realised that I've always worked in an environment where people didn’t like what I did. Breakfast TV for example. Those of us that started what’s now the norm were trailblazers.

Oh, I wonder why?

He's a maverick, Colly!

I had the misfortune of having a stream of whatever channel he and Andy Gray are on now last month and feck are they terrible. Didn't people think they were good? It was by far the worst punditry and commentary I've ever heard. Andy Gray commentating on the highlights of games was just beyond terrible, you'd pick an old drunk moron from down the local pub who could do a better job.

Think that's harsh TBF. Andy Gray on Super Sunday with analysis used to be pretty good IMO.

Hm. Not publishing a book before it's finished? Radical idea, no doubt, but just the sort of trailblazing he's known for.

Say what you want about him but Keys holds a grudge. Thus his book will probably be quite entertaining if/when it's published.

“An organisation rotten from the top down” I was quite happy to take a salary and job with until I left under a cloud.

Nah, it's just nostalgia and the fact that when they came along football analysis was so basic that they were ahead of their time in the UK. Compared to now, they were trash. Gray has a good voice for co-commentary but that's it.

Gray is still a very good analyst in my opinion. Keys not so much.

Gray is still by far the best football PL analyst. I don't think there is anyone who comes close Keys is a clown

Agreed. What I like about Gray is the lack of hyperbole. Despite being jettisoned to BeIn he doesn't try to say something controversial to stay relevant. He calls it how he sees it and is a sensible pundit, something that is far too rare.

when it came to Gray and the champions league he was out of his depth- it was clear he didn't have a clue about teams on the continent

Pundits like Gray, Souness, Lawrenson and Thompson, who played football in the 80s, are so behind today's game. Hanson did the right thing and retired. To be honest all pundits are overrated. How hard is to analyse a game when it's finished. They all just give their own opinions most of the time, like your average fan in the pub. If they really thought they were something special they would be predicting correct results before the games are played, which is impossible.
P.s Keys is the biggest prick of the lot.

He said Roberto Martínez should be the next United manager a few months ago.

Good analysts are able to spot patterns of play and decode tactics and strategies for the layman.

Most British “pundits” just describe what everyone’s already seen without providing any insight or give out their opinions.

José is joining them in the spaceship next week, will be interesting to see after everything they've said about him. Keysie will probably switch to full on sycophant mode.

Richard Keys is a paid puppet of a regime. I'm not sure what led them to believe that a man who had an affair with his daughters friend (while his wife was fighting cancer) was their man, but it probably says as much as you need to know about Qatar.

Use your hairy hands to draw and bath and make some toast. Twat.

Haha. Fair point. There are always exceptions.

In general, I find his opinions balanced and very sensible.

What ?

The entire point is that it's not that easy to analyse a match, which is why pundits largely talk shit. Any knobhead with a pair of highs can describe that a pass is being hit, a shot is being made and oh that's a goal. Analysing attacking patterns, what the teams should have done etc is entirely different and rarely happens. It's not about predicting right correct results, it's about highlighting how the teams play, how they generally set up, what they will try to do against the opposition (How will they try to nullify their attacking threats, how will they counter this and that)

:lol::lol::lol:

What the feck? He thinks Rafa should buy players out of his own money?

Such a short sentence but the degeneracy just snowballs so quick.

What an absolute plonker.

Yeah, Rafa, why don’t you take 30 million quid of your own money to sign a half decent striker from the Championship, plus agents fees and signing on fees. Don’t forget you’ll also have to commit to paying him £80k a week for the next five years even if you’re sacked at the end of the season.

What’s wrong with Richard Keys’ brain?

Keys has hated rafa for neigh on 15 years. Presumably for being the original zonal marking, squad rotating, Johnny foreigner who didn't like the media.

If you were given footage of the game these pundits get and the help they get from the people behind the scenes, it's not hard to see if the full backs are pushing up or teams are playing 5 man in midfield.
After the game it's easy to say , the defender should have pushed out or the fullback was 2 yards out. That's why all these pundits make shit managers. Always easy after the game. It's people like you who get sucked into all this hype about how important these pundits are journalists are in today's game. All bollocks to be honest.

Even ignoring his private life, you can tell he is a bad person, the kind you wouldn't want anywhere near you. The questions he asks always have one goal...to incite controversy.

People like me ? You're starting to sound like a pundit.

And i wouldn't call it an analysis to point out that fullbacks are pushing forward.

Next up: "Why AFTV should use their revenue to fund Arsenal's defence."

Why the feck should Rafa spend his own money for transfers? This may be the most stupid shit I've heard in the past years.

People still think this clown and Gray should be on Sky, like what the hell seriously?! Some folk have no clue.
