PR stunt? For feck sakes lads, can we try to spin something positive once in a while. For me that felt very relaxed and genuine.
Given Overmars resigned, no.
I'd echo concerns about how he handled that Overmars situation but trying to stay on the point I assume you're trying to make, I do think his background makes some difference to me. Football route rather than a business route.
Why a protest now? This is just about transfers isn't it.
Looks like a nice pub.
Of course it’s a fecking PR move…
How did he get the info, from his house, that a few Utd fans were going to protest outside his house… and knew what pub they were inside… and who they were in the pub!?
Somebody knew who also had his personal contact details? Cmon.
Then he goes out and it ends up with you all thinking he’s a ‘man of the people’, who ‘got the beers in with the lads’ - a right good bloke, humouring the plebs like.
Let’s see how you all feel about Arnold in a few seasons time…
It then ends up that the Glazers have found a way to speak to the fans while generating pity and explaining why money isn’t being spent - how incredibly fortuitous for them.
FFS cmon. This is the same outcome of nearly all expensive PR - to come across as ‘one of the people’.
Why’s he a cnut? Seems to want the best for the club and is aware of the limitations he’s working under. Certainly not his fault the owners are twats, nor his desire to take the job. Would you rather we got someone who doesn’t give a fig and is just there to take the money?Absolutely no desire to have a side here.
The protestors are weirdos and Arnold is a cnut.
I wonder what ale is on tap?Looks like a nice pub.
This is a pretty daft take to be honest.Of course it’s a fecking PR move…

I think those are really charitable assumptions, is all. Why’s he a cnut? Seems to want the best for the club and is aware of the limitations he’s working under. Chances are this group mentioned their plans to a journalist to get those juicy photos of the protest and a few quid. This journalist/paparazzi mentions it to a pal in the industry who happens to speak to Arnold, who now knows.
Walking into your local and seeing a large group who are blatantly out of place in such a likeminded and affluent area and it’s very obvious who he’s looking for. Particularly since they inevitably spotted him and started staring at him and whispering to each other.
Not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes things just are exactly as they seem on the surface.
Yeah, I'm a bit surprised it's generating as much passion as it is but then it is silly season, I guess. What's all the commotion about ? I don't see any worthwhile here.
Respect to Arnold
Those morons have now broadcast to Barca that that we have loads of money for frenkie de jong which goes against the 120 million briefing that had been put out last week. That’ll help with negotiations you bell ends
If these are the Red Issue bellends
“Inhumane” if a video emerged of them chanting at his daughter I’d agree. They just filmed their conversation with him? Obviously wrong but to be honest after the season we just had every United fan deserves answers even if the method isn’t morally condoned.
I personally wouldn’t give a shit about “betraying” anyone upstairs at our club. What’s worse is working people paying up to £150 a pop to watch a bunch of millionaire pricks who have turned what used to be their absolute pride and joy into a complete laughing stock.
A rare good take in this thread. You never secretly film the guy who got the beers in. Everyone who has ever downed a pint brought by another person knows this. It's the unwritten rule, the thing you simply don't do.
It might have been forgivable had the guy holding the recording device returned the favour and brought a round before he started filming, in a "buy them a drink before you feck them" sort of way. But that's not the case is it.
The fellas responsible are getting reamed on twitter and tbh I can't feel sorry for them. They may have compromised that man's career in the long term and in the short term at least strung out the De Jong deal because you know Barca will use that.
No idea why people would protest outside his house, like thats going to achieve anything
According to twitter Richard Arnold found out about the protest and what pub the group was meeting so went to them instead.
but it tells us that woodward was shafting our past managers with buying players that where not the choice of the manager
Why is somebody a cnut if they are successful in their careers? It's the job not the person. No one gets that job who isn't a cnut in my eyes.
Fair play. You never secretly film the guy who got the beers in.
Sometimes I truly hate being a United supporter.
We've some absolute knuckle draggers in our midst sadly.
Because there are careers where being a cnut is a trait critical to success. Why is somebody a cnut if they are successful in their careers?
I mean not really. It's just a career and somebody doing their job well enough that they move up the ladder. Besides what would being a cnut mean? That you have to fire the odd person? That's just standard life. There's nothing to suggest that Arnold is some shady person that did shady things to be where he is. Why start off with just disliking them because they are successful? Comes across as very bitter/jealous imo.Because there are careers where being a cnut is a trait critical to success.

Remember the first time I lined up to enter Old Trafford. A drunk fan proceeded to call me and my three friends a suicide bomber. Not one person intervened, was so depressing.
I take that you have had some bad experiences with some leaders in your career?
Have you a link?
