Lovely to read so many thank yous and tributes from current and former United players, former academy players, current and former staff members etc. You can see how widely she touched everyone at the club.
Well said. RIP Kath.

Such sad news, never had the pleasure of meeting her but as with most United fans, she is know and adored by many. Rip Kath

All the warm messages coming out say everything you need to know about Kath, club legend.

A sad day, RIP Kath.

RIP Kath. A true club legend. The most loyal servant in football. You’ll be missed by every single person that as ever walked through your reception and everyone that still walks through it.

Jesus is someone chopping onions somewhere.

I really hope they do something to honour her on Saturday. Club legend. Think of all the people that have been through the doors at Carrington and she has been the first point of contact for 5 decades. Incredible.

RIP Kath

What a woman. She has seen it all and been there through so many era's at United, from Sir Matt, to Sir Alex right up to now

She was clearly loved at United and excellent at all her jobs in her 55 years service. RIP

Clearly adored by absolutely everybody she came into contact with. A very sad day.

Rest in peace. By all accounts she seemed like a wonderful person.

Never had the pleasure of meeting her but knew of her and how special a presence she was at the heart of our club. It's people like her that made the club a very special place. The players comments leave no doubt how she was so cherished. Brings a tear to the eye. RIP.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I do recall she appeared in one of the documentaries (perhaps one specifically on SAF?), and to me she came across like someone you knew in an odd way. The way she talked about the club, the players was so endearing and she seemed like someone who was a massive part of the club. The messages from past and present players is incredible to see.

With all the rough times on the pitch we have seen over the past decade, it's amazing to see such important people to have been part of this club and what makes it so special to be a fan, remembering people like her who touched the lives of so many. RIP Kath.

The David Beckham documentary on Netflix, wouldn't be surprised if she appeared in others. I just watched episode 1 a couple of days ago and thought to myself, that's a lovely lady must have been working at least 20+ years at the club(in fact 55 years!).

Saddened to hear of her passing but the blow is somewhat slightly softened by getting to know what an important figure she is/was at the club and messages from the entire United family is heartwarming.

Sad news.

She will remain a connection to the roots of what we are as a football club without the corporate greed. A wonderful local lady that was employed to a do a simple but important job. The human face of the club almost.

She was a touch of reality at the club when it often appeared to be spinning out of control.

They don't make them like that anymore do they? RIP Kath.

It's absolutely telling the amount of tributes from players, past and present. What a wonderful lady and may she rest in peace.

I somehow feel sad, didn't know her but can't help to feel like I did after all of those years hearing and reading about her. RIP

Ah man I’ve somehow only just seen this, what awfully sad news :(

Great to see all the tributes from players across the generations.

Tbf despite the 'corporate greed' they did keep her on till her mid-80s.

People like Kath Phipps is the last thread between the megastars and billionaires and the regular folk who can barely afford to watch the game. So much of a football club is about the community, the characters inside the club, the history of it. With the romance almost completely leaving the game, Kath's passing should be a reminder of what people like her mean to this club.

But also, these are happy tears being shed by her friends and family, because this woman got every bit out of life and touched impacted everyone who met her.

Rest In Piece Kath

The outpouring of condolences and respect from just about everyone who ever met her and from around the world speaks volumes to the type of person that she was.

Hope to see some sort of tribute in her honor at OT tomorrow.

Kathy has been at United for longer than I’ve lived, and I remember when Dave Sexton was manager. One of the key things Alex Ferguson said he noticed when he came to the club, was how important she was - more important than individual players even - because of how she were and what she stood (up) for. It, and she, helped me understand how important a sense of community is, and how to build it.

Met her briefly at the cliff many a moon ago, such a lovely lovely women! The epitome of our club, a legend! Say hello to Georgie, Bobby and Matt for us all. May she rest in peace
