Replacing Rooney

Caughtoffside are claiming we're lining up Pato as Rooneys replacement.

Thing is ignoring the uber-shit source that is caughtwithoutafeckingclue.com Pato might not actually be a totally unrealistic target, Milan stockpiled on front men over the summer after a long time of limited investment, their fans were actually starting to get pissed off much like some of ours when the Kaka money seemingly wasn't touched and merely pocketed by the owner......Ibrahimovich and Robinhio joined along with the strikers they already had in the summer, Berlusconi has elections coming up soon doesn't he? and hes well known for wanting to balance the books after a spending spree of sorts many Milan fans are actually expecting something of the sort, not saying thats the case but i wouldn't say Milan are totally non-negotiable to a big money offer for one of their players came in right now.

Pato would be way to expensive and Coutinho I don't think Benitez would let go. Especially given his relationship with SAF.

My point is that you are mentioning players from Anderlect, Santos, Fiorentina, young players from small clubs, therefore you can compare Benzema of Lyon to them. Pato is obviously something else and his price tag will justify that, we wouldn't spend as much as it would cost to get him, on the other hand you have Lukalu, Jovetic, Neymar etc who are impressing at small clubs (just like Benzema was impressing at Lyon) therefore they can all the compared. The only difference is the other players are still getting regular time at small clubs (like Benzema would be at Lyon) and Benzema isn't getting much gametime at the massive club because he made a immature choice to go to the revolving club where he hasn't gotten much game time. If Benzema was still at Lyon like the other guys you mentioned are still at their respective clubs, you would be including him in the equation.

Saying he isn't as good because he warms the bench isn't anything as the same club thought that Robben and Sneijder weren't anything special. So if you take Real and their farce of an operation out of the equation, you have a couple great players from Santos, one from Anderlect and one from Lyon.

Plus, as mentioned already with the constraints against him and the form the rest of the team are in, he still does the job when he comes off the bench and his goalscoring record proves that. Given 90 minutes every week will improve a 1 in 4 record, like we saw the last time he had that opportunity.

Stats sometimes make players look like God... It isn't the fact here. I'm merely pointing out that I've watched him and apart from his goals... Benzema looks off the pace, lazy and doesn't look like the awesome player you claim of so...

Its not the fact that I don't rate him of course, I do think he is a good prospect... Merely I haven't been liking his overall performances which were shockingly poor last season...

Pato would be great, but his actions right after Ancelotti went to Chelsea are telling for me. Pato wanted to have a converstation with the Chelsea boss about his own future. So if he comes to England, I'm sure he'll go to Chelsea.

None of them are german.
No quality German players are available though; Schweinsteiger & Müller won't move, Khedira & Özil just have and the others are not yet to be considered if we are talking about strengthening our midfield and attack.

I think Schweinsteiger may be convinced there Jaap, Muller no chance. Schweini has mentioned that a move abroad "excites" him and hes not married to Bayern. His contract is up in 2012 and I bet kroos could fill into his role in the future.

Bastian would be a great fit for imvho

I have heard about his desire to play abroad, a big fan of the Premier League too, if the papers are to be believed.

He'd fit in well, especially in a 4-4-2 formation, but he's a hard worker, equipped with fine technique and a leader already for Bayern.
