Replacing Rooney

Either Sanchez or Pastore for the wings with a central midfielder - Hamsik, Defour or Di Rossi would be nice.

:lol:

Mate you're such a transfer muppet...you've probably seen them less than 20 times collectively!

'Kinell.

You might as well just spend the 30 million it would cost to buy Muller... on 10ish really good prospects.

that way you know 1 out of 10 will be just as good, and you can flog the other 9... and get your money back.

it's not like Muller would be amazing straight away, he's young and learning.

Bayern have some real talent
- compare that to United players in similar positions

Muller = Berbatov
Robben = Nani
Ribery = Valencia
Kroos = Anderson ????
Schweinsteiger = ....

Our central midfield is pretty weak

I can't see the Tevez comparison to be honest... I trust you watch Benzema enough to post your statements. Statistically, that really isn't the case of Benzema last season and the fans were calling him lazy.. This season, he has scored from the bench for 2 matches if I recall... But if you watch the whole game and what he has achieved, it is no Awesome feat...

Not even close to where Tevez was scoring hatricks and still sat on the bench...

Benzema doesn't come on and changes the pace like Tevez does, or does he have the workrate and individual skill like Tevez... I've always rated Tevez > Benzema from past achievements and mind you I watch both players to some extent.

I know you rate the lad, but your statements are overhyping him too much.

I find this statement really hard to believe, I do get the fact that you rated Benzema's time at Lyon which we all rate... But hey, players that are playing consistently and who have more potential are out there....

For example, If Jovetic wasn't injured, I'm sure he'll be top of our list at this current moment as the lad is special, not to mention Pato who was excellent, Neymar... if you watch Santos a bit you'd know that he is a special player... Not to mention Aguero who has done much more than Benzema in a far poorer side for A.Madrid...
Coutinho has also stepped up for Inter... And I'm amazed that Rafa's actually giving him chances cuz we all know that Rafa didn't do really well with any Liverpool youngsters...

Lukalu has done wonders for a 17 yr old for Anderlect too... Looks like a beast and hasn't moved to a top side yet either...

Benzema would be a good addition no doubt but with his current confidence and form + hefty price tag on him, we should open the door for other potentially better players than Benzema too.

Pato would be way to expensive and Coutinho I don't think Benitez would let go. Especially given his relationship with SAF.

My point is that you are mentioning players from Anderlect, Santos, Fiorentina, young players from small clubs, therefore you can compare Benzema of Lyon to them. Pato is obviously something else and his price tag will justify that, we wouldn't spend as much as it would cost to get him, on the other hand you have Lukalu, Jovetic, Neymar etc who are impressing at small clubs (just like Benzema was impressing at Lyon) therefore they can all the compared. The only difference is the other players are still getting regular time at small clubs (like Benzema would be at Lyon) and Benzema isn't getting much gametime at the massive club because he made a immature choice to go to the revolving club where he hasn't gotten much game time. If Benzema was still at Lyon like the other guys you mentioned are still at their respective clubs, you would be including him in the equation.

Saying he isn't as good because he warms the bench isn't anything as the same club thought that Robben and Sneijder weren't anything special. So if you take Real and their farce of an operation out of the equation, you have a couple great players from Santos, one from Anderlect and one from Lyon.

Plus, as mentioned already with the constraints against him and the form the rest of the team are in, he still does the job when he comes off the bench and his goalscoring record proves that. Given 90 minutes every week will improve a 1 in 4 record, like we saw the last time he had that opportunity.

Well yeah, I don't watch the Italian & Belgian leagues that often to be fair, but these kids are highly though of by people who do know about these leagues.

:lol: fecks sake. Most people who 'do know' are people who play Football Manager, try not to listen to them.

Phew. Not just me who feels this way then.

Everyone seems to be keen to offload Rooney for Benzema all because he scored a half decent goal against us a few season back.

if we are to believe Certain stories from spain, he must have an attitude problem too

Right now, if I was Ferguson I would not be looking to directly replace Rooney with a Striker.

I'd look to recall Welbeck and have Berbatov, Hernandez, Macheda, Welbeck as our 4 Strikers. That is some real youth right there and as Ferguson says, you have to look past now and on to the future.

As this is a team I'm looking to the future with, I'm going to forget about Scholes, Giggs, Neville and Van Der Sar for now.

Depending on how much money we are actually going to look to spend, I would do this:

£40m

De Gea: £10m Masses of potential, could fight with PIG from the start and surely has a huge future.

Defour: £12m A pure attacking midfielder in the mould we are definately missing, he could be the key to unlocking the final third in a way we have been failing recently. Also would play a part in ball retention.

Sanchez: £20m We need a player like Ronaldo, Giggs, Kanchelskis, Best. It's in our clubs fibre to have one. Nani is doing a great job so far but, and I never thought I'd say this, he's found a way to be direct and effective. We need a spark of unpredictablity that gets Old Trafford on it's feet and strikes some fear into the opposition. I think Sanchez is this player.

£70m+ (Very unlikely, but if we did go out and blow the Rooney money and the Transfer pot we seem to be storing I'd spend it like this...)

LLoris: £15-20m Secure our future with a player that would step in and be our #1 for years to come.

Sneijder: £35m? He made a step up last season and was immense. He's a fantastic attacking midfielder with very few weaknesses and was pretty much box to box for Holland at the World Cup, perhaps suspect in a 2 man midfield, this could work in our favour as alongside Fletcher and Carrick, I think we'd have one of the best midfields in the Country again.

Sanchez: £20m? See above.

I like to be a muppet too sometimes :)

I would like to see Hulk play for Manchester United. Considering we'll certainly lose him come the end of this season, I would like to see him playing on a team I follow regularly and admire. I fear his price will be out of your transfer policies though.

Would be my choice... provided they don't want silly money. somewhere near the 15million mark would be very reasonable.

:lol::lol::lol:

15m for Dzeko?! They've been asking for 35-40 all summer!

And he's definitely worth more than 15m. Would be the bargain of the season at 15m

Oh well if the Europa League counts, Hulk scored two goals, made a great game and received a standing ovation from Besiktas fans, something I never expected to see from such fanatic supporters. Also had an assist for a goal unlawfully ruled out.

Phew. Not just me who feels this way then.

Everyone seems to be keen to offload Rooney for Benzema all because he scored a half decent goal against us a few season back.

I've never seen much about Benzema to understand why people seem to rate him so highly.

On the other hand, one person who des rate him highly is the boss. If rumours abou Rooney going to Real have anything in them, they are going to have to make space in their squad and find funds for the purchase. Add onto it the 20% sell-on due to Everton for cash above £27m and a player swap looks a sensible option with Benzema an obvious candidate. On paper it makes sense, regardless of the Frenchman's form, Ferguson will probably be interested in this kind of deal.

I can't see a twenty year old Muller leave the best club in his native homeland; Germany is different to Brazil.
Think about it, how many twenty year old players left the Premiership for Serie A or La Liga?
The only one I can think of was Robbie Keane.
No Spanish or Italians that age leave their clubs for other leagues either, unless to join as an academy player in their teams like Fabregas, Pique, Rossi and Macheda etc...
