Has SAF confirmed he's staying past this season anywhere? Genuine question, i seem to have missed this.

Had he done that frequently in the past? He's been on a rolling contract for a good few years and hasn't spoken out much on his future regardless.

Pep Guardiola will take over as Bayern Munich boss at the end of the season, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.

The Spaniard has been linked with most of Europe's top clubs since leaving Barcelona at the end of last season.

But Bayern emerged as favourites in recent weeks, and a statement on the club's website confirmed his imminent appointment on a three-year deal.

Current boss Jupp Heynckes, 67, told Bayern before Christmas he intends to retire at the end of the season and the club's directors moved quickly for Guardiola, who has been living in New York on a break from football.

Chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "We are very pleased that we have succeeded in getting Pep Guardiola, who was courted by many famous clubs.

"Pep Guardiola is one of the most successful coaches in the world. We look forward to working with him from July 2013."

Guardiola, whose four years as Barca boss brought 14 trophies including three La Liga titles and two Champions League wins, replaces a man who came within a penalty shoot-out of making Bayern European champions last season.

Bayern chairman Uli Hoeness said: "We are extremely grateful for Jupp Heynckes' work, and we would be very happy if the team would give this great coach a glorious farewell.

"As an adequate replacement for Jupp Heynckes only Pep Guardiola was of the right calibre."

I know he hasnt in the past but Just reading around in the forum, some have stated that SAF has said he'l be sticking around for a couple more seasons. Hence i thought perhaps he's said so himself.

He's on a 3 year deal at Bayern & SAF says he's around for another 2 or 3 years.

I think we can all see where this is going...

You know Fergie and Pep probably worked it out that way in NYC - well I hope they did lol.

Fergie will probably retire this season, leaving a spot open for Mourinho to get involved at United. I'd imagine Fergie will then go to Bayern to work under Guardiola so that Pep can have some time and experience with the man. When he's had enough, him and Mourinho will swap clubs, leaving Fergie to fulfill his dream and become a full-time referee or linesman.

Exactly

Just to shout at himself?

He'll ref all the United games and give us 10 pens a game. Then he'll dismantle City and Liverpools season every year by favouring their opponents when he refs their games.

There's only one man that I can currently see in football that has the mental ability as well as management ability to take over this job. The pressure to take over from Ferguson will be off the scale, and Mourinho being Mourinho will absolutely relish it, it won't phase him in the slightest, he'd love to sit in Fergie's seat with a smirk on his face. The press reaction to this would be frantic and the whole world would be talking about United, whether that's a good thing or not I don't know. He's been there and done it in England, he knows how it works.

People get so caught up in the "Mourinho never stays anywhere", but we need to realise that Ferguson is a complete one-off, the likes of which will never be seen again, with the way modern football is, it's extremely unlikely that we will see a manager here for over 10 years let alone 27. Ferguson is the exception to the rule and people wanting another manager to reign for 2 decades are deluded.

When Ferguson retires, I want an exciting appointment, something that makes me excited that there is a new era about to happen. I don't think I'd feel like that with someone like Moyes. Not to say he isn't a good manager, just my reaction and I suspect most United fans would be pretty muted. If Mourinho walked through the door the fans would be in raptures and that first match at Old Trafford would be off the scale. Mourinho would not be phased by sitting in Fergie's seat, looking up, seeing his name on the stand opposite, seeing the statue outside etc. I think other managers would be too respectful and not do things their own way.

Mourinho, while being respectful towards SAF as he usually is, would come in and do things his way and that's the way it would have to be. It has to be a new era, sounds brutal but we would have to move on as a club like ours cannot stand still.

I used to be of the mind that Mourinho had the better character, didn't feel pressure, took the pressure off the team and stronger personality to cope with the job of replacing one of the worlds best ever managers

The more I thought about it I think Mourinho lacks the dignity you would expect from a United manager and that the clown would bring embarrassment to the club

Pep for me

Mourinho. He's done it in different teams in different leagues. Guardiola's record is undoubtably impressive, but he's had arguably the greatest team in history at his disposal. I'm saving my praise for him until he does it elsewhere.

Mourinho is right up there with Joey Barton in the embarrassment stakes

He beat that Barca side to the league last season and the Madrid fans still can't stand him

Let's get the pep vote going

Guardiola 2015!!

Good move for us this Bayern move.

Keeps a quality manager out of the hands of our rivals, and also doesn't pressurise us into making any hasty decisions regarding Fergie.

The minimum Fergie deserves is to choose when he goes, and the prospect of Mourinho and Guardiola both being up for grabs this summer could have interfered with that.

I wonder if Mourinho might go to someone like PSG. As clearly, if he goes to City, the chance to manage us will evaporate.

There was no chance of us rushing fergie to retirement due to mourinho and peps availability.

If Sir Bobby thinks Jose is wrong for United, that's good enough for me. So...someone else, please.

As much as I love and respect Sir Bobby if Sir Alex thinks otherwise (which I think he may very well do) I'd go with Sir Alex's opinion.

Mourinho to PSG makes sense but it's a pretty shite league which may give him second thoughts.

For what its worth, I saw Mourinho today in Harrods.

I said, 'Alright?' and offered my hand, and he shook it.

That is all

This shows he is clearly coming to United after SAF.

Nah, his dream was always to become fourth official.

Now we see what Pep is made of although he takes over one of the strongest teams in Europe
