Repealing the new twitter thread rules and introducing new transfer tweets page

Well done, guys, especially for people who have little time to follow Twitter during summer and want to be updated.

And also who hate transfer windows and every little tweet's importance just because some ITK has tweeted something.

Very nice, @Niall. One question: Right now there's that little 'New' above the tab. I realise that's to bring attention to the new feature. Would it be possible to flag it or something whenever there are new tweets in there? Similar to how the regular threads work.

Yeah that would be nice. Or just a counter like when we get a new alert that shows how many new tweets are up? If something like this would be possible, that would be awesome.

Actually I suppose being able to "watch" the thread would do.

It's becoming very clear that you two (in particular) have a real problem with me. This kind of thing follows me around the forum nearly every time I post. Though, to be fair, It's mostly eboue that has frequent random digs at me for no apparent reason. Can we just get past it please?
I think @Eboue treats most people like turd, so dont take it personally.

How is the tweets page performing for people? 40+ tweets is a quite a lot to load. Is it noticeable slow to show the tweets for you?

Awesome ! :)

No problems with loading time either @Niall. Smooth as ever.

Absolutely fine, slightly slower than a normal page for me but that's probably down to my laptop.

A sensible, well thought out and elegant response to an annoying issue.
Well played all!

Happy to hear feedback on both of these things. Suggestions for improvements to the new Transfer Tweets page are welcome.

Is it possible to replace that yellow "New" button with a notification button that tells how many new tweets that have been posted since you last visited the read only thread?

Disappointed with this decision - twitter discussion threads will just end up being endless boring conversations about the player, which should be restricted to player specific threads, and the inevitable "cocks out" posts (or the many variations of it).

But I suppose you do have the Read Only twitter page.

Just don't go into the thread and instead watch the read only page... I don't see any problem tbh.

I think the new yellow button is just to tell us that it's a new feature...., but that idea actually seems great. If feasible per user basis......

I'm sure this has been asked to death and I'm late to the party, but is there anyway to turn off the horrible yellow New alert on the Transfer Tweets page or at the very least make it like the normal alerts. Also can we make it so it actually says new when there's a new tweet in there. Very confusing as I keep checking it with no result :(

Sure, its just that the transfer season gets quite silly at times and the posts become tiresome, so I was happy that the mods placed some restrictions to keep this to a minimum. But as you said, don't go into the thread!

tbh, the forum tends to die a bit in the summer. Silly season makes it active :)

Has been asked at the bottom of the first page. You cannot turn the yellow button off but it won't be there for too long, and the 'New' issue would be too difficult to implement according to Damien.

Hitler can feck off with his autobahns, we've got transfer tweets

But seriously, good job!

Thank you very much @Niall

You don't know how tempted I have been to reply to tweets.

I replied to a post in there by accident a few days ago. I'd a load of tabs open and that one had been open for ages.
Replied and was correctly banned (rules were clear), but this is such a better solution! Well impressed by this board.

There are just three pages! Surely it shouldn't have been hard to read through them first  new icon is there on a temporary basis, as for notifications - a la the inbox new message count - its something that is being looked into but seems difficult to do at the moment as its not a standard thread, so the "watch" thing someone else suggested wouldn't work.

I don't think it is too much of a problem, but perhaps you might consider, if possible, making it less posts per page for that particular thread (say 20?).

It has to become a multipage structure to do it. Niall's looking at making it maybe 3 pages of 20 each - wish him luck.

Will you be able to view them though? Some people can't view tweets at work and are counting on the descriptions below the tweets.

I have never had that issue, unless my coverage was crap and it just fails to load.

Yes, we have alerts :D

Read posts are also faded so you'll know when you've reached the end of the new posts.

More good ideas from @Top and @Damien.
