Seriously, how brutal are Bayern in the transfer market? Lost Schweinsteiger and responded with signing Vidal. Midfield looked a bit stale apparently this season and now have signed a huge box to box prospect.
Shame, he looked quite the talent from the clips I've seen.
Bayern have paid Benfica €35m (£28m) for 18-year-old midfielder Sanches, who was also wanted by Manchester United, in a deal which could rise to €45m.
I'd be seriously interested in a scientific answer to that question. Surely there must have been a psychological study about that subject.I don't know why people take the media so seriously.
Imagine midfield of Carrick, Alonso and Bastian. Should add Toure as a cherry on top. Totti s on the free this summer? We're gonna conquer the worldI'd let you have Alonso for free, but somehow I think he won't go to United because of his Liverpool past
Yeah, close to 100% sure that he'll stay. I'd say there's a good chance that he'll extend his contract before the Euro.Yeah, and you have a lot of natural width in your team to play a diamond - Costa, Coman, Robben & Ribery (if the latter 2 ever recaptures their best form). It is going to be interesting. I wanted to ask and now you've mentioned it - it seems you're confident Lewandowski will stay? I don't know of any rumors or interest, but thought Madrid might be looking to replace Benzema this summer.
We've lacked a midfielder who is truly box-to-box and has that ability to make driving runs from midfield, for ages though. It can often be a game-changer. We'll have to see how good this chap ends up I think we could definitely do with a midfielder who gives us that.We didn't need him. And from what little I saw of him, didn't look like a must have. The upgrade we need in the midfield is a creative player ala Modric/Gundogan, and a Carrick replacement. This guy is neither.
Still incredible that an 18 year old with very little football can eventually cost Bayern 80m Euros. Though, I am sure that additional 45m Euros won't be as easily achievable as they were in Martial's transfer fee.
The BBC are wrong.BBC saying its €35mil possibly rising to €45mil
Oh Well. Another in a long line of CM feck ups that started in Summer 2007.
Signing Hargreaves, missing out on Ramsey, letting Pogba go,signing a past it Schweinsteiger, signing Schneiderlin, signing Herrera and not using him(he probably is best as a 10 anyway).
When will the nightmare end?
Wouldn't you say that's a coincidence of poor form/hindering tactics/injuries rather than weak personnel though?I struggle to believe the 80m or at least the criteria for it to happening have to be totally absurd, but I'm sure we'll find out in detail soon enough.
Midfield was easily our weakest position the last 2 seasons by the way. Only Vidal played to a for us acceptable level in 2016, Thiago has been really disappointing and often benched in key games by Pep. Alonso is way past it and Martinez hasn't played in midfield in quite a while now and is difficult to judge. We definitely needed to sign a midfielder more than anything else.
35m possibly raising to 45m makes a lot more sense than 35m with possibly 45m in bonus payments on top. It's funny how those 2 numbers are randomly thrown around in every possible combination .BBC saying its €35mil possibly rising to €45mil

So no mole in the club then?Yeah, that's fair enough. We like to steal your midfield targets. Though we were interested in Vidal way before you guys were and already had agreed on a contract with him back in 2011 when he moved to Juve because Leverkusen denied him the move to us. And Thiago simply couldn't resist once Pep called him, so it's probably more likely that we work more quietly behind the scenes while United's transfer dramas are more public. Which is really odd, because usually keeping things quiet isn't our strength at all, but at least in terms of transfers we managed to do that really well in recent years.
The BBC are wrong.
Benfica have posted the actual cost on the stock exchange and it is 35 + 45 = 80'
The mole might be someone who isn't informed about the transfer targets? So no mole in the club then?
Can Bayern announce Hummels as well?
Oh.. I missed that newsThey have already done that.
But If we do have Jose lined up we have no need for a box to box midfielder since they don't really fit into a Mourinho side. We've lacked a midfielder who is truly box-to-box and has that ability to make driving runs from midfield, for ages though. Not sure about that. Alonso is definitely past it. I don't mind him as a back-up / rotation player against weaker sides, but he simply shouldn't start for us. Thiago really has gone into hiding almost every time we faced a tough opponent. I'm not sold on him as an elite midfielder and while injuries certainly hurt him big time over the last 3 years, he played enough this season to judge him. Maybe the injuries took something away from him, be it mentally or physically and maybe he can turn it around. But his 3 years with us make it difficult for me to believe it.Wouldn't you say that's a coincidence of poor form/hindering tactics/injuries rather than weak personnel though?
I think the press are just confusing Bayern with United. Maybe they think we have a lot of German scouts and think they are our scouts.I swear Bayern's transfer policy is to see who United are linked to and swoop under the radar to sign them. It's happened loads recently.
I guess a lot of people on here are happy about this since he is such an average talent.
Lucky for us that we have the much better Ekangamene so no real loss aftet all.

Sitting midfielders that allows Lampard / Sneijder / Ozil / Cesc to dictate the play further forward.
Anyway you cut it, this shows once again how badly the club is being ran from a footballing side!
Hopefully Mourinh is a bit more flexible than that. Everyone is crying out for exciting football yet we're expecting two sitters from Jose? Btw, Essien was not a limited midfielder at all.But If we do have Jose lined up we have no need for a box to box midfielder since they don't really fit into a Mourinho side.

Not sure abut Sanchez's ability but Schneiderlin is too limited to be a proper box to box who can dart forward at defences. Herrera is pass and move player. Neither fit the bill.I have my doubts about his ability. Like I said, hasn't looked a special player to me; although, I'll admit that the sample from which I am judging him isn't very high.
I think Schneiderlin can play that role, and also Herrera. Both of them were excellent in that role for their previous clubs. I see more of an immediate need for a defensive/holding midfielder and a creative passer from the midfield. Also, if VG is still in the plans for next year, then he doesn't really use a box to box midfielder.
I am not too bothered.
Bizarre. Bayern paying €80m for an 18-year old in a position they don't need to upgrade?
