Ed sleeping in again
Bizarre. Bayern paying €80m for an 18-year old in a position they don't need to upgrade?
Portuguese press was convinced it was essentially a done deal as well
We had already scouted him 20 times before that.Guess them playing each other in the CL is where Bayern thought, right let's have him.
Isn't United linked to pretty much everyone all year long?
I struggle to believe the 80m or at least the criteria for it to happening have to be totally absurd, but I'm sure we'll find out in detail soon enough.Bizarre. Bayern paying €80m for an 18-year old in a position they don't need to upgrade?
Can we claim travelling expenses back?Scouted for 20 odd games and we dont sign him
Classic united
Indeed. It doesn't prevent people from believing the stuff time and time again.Absolutely gutted.
Just shows what a load of rubbish the press talk. As far as we knew it was nailed on, then Bayern sign him for about quarter of the reputed fee
I guess Woodward listened to the caf after all. Hope you're all happy
Don't forget how happily the media spreads this fiction. Why is everyone here assuming that we look like mugs, can someone please explain it to me?
It looks more like once again United's name have been used by a club/agent/player to force through deals.
It happens year on year, get used to it. It doesn't bother me because it's always nonsense rumors.
As every year, they'll be more often wrong than right. What the hell, I thought this was a done dealio basically
Makes me wonder how wrong the media are about everything else that might be happening this summer.....
I didnt quote you when I was making the oriiginal point. I was talking about how everyone takes this news as a proof for something totally unrelated.I'm not even sure why Jose has come up in discussion. I was merely speaking of the current situation and those in charge.
No he isn't my friend. Expensive, yes.Wasn't he shit anyway?
There are sooooo many similar players out there for 20 odd million.. Ed doesn't know what he's doing etc.
So he's worth the 80m now?Bayern are amazing. What a well run club.
They leave United, Real and Barca in the shade . That's the kind of management I'd love here. Efficient. No dithering. It was the same with Van Gaal as their manager, they saw a problem and took a chance and acted on it.
I get your meaning. I just feel that if they are spending that much then the player should be expected to feature heavily in the first team from the off, and yet he won't really upgrade their midfield.Isn't that a bit of a moot point?
Wait till they get exclusive insider's news on how Utd fecked up the deal and run it for 2-3 days.Ahem........................http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ted-signing-28m-Benfica-s-Renato-Sanches.html
People throwing their toys out of the pram we didn't sign a player most have never seen play.
Yeah, and you have a lot of natural width in your team to play a diamond - Costa, Coman, Robben & Ribery (if the latter 2 ever recaptures their best form). It is going to be interesting. I wanted to ask and now you've mentioned it - it seems you're confident Lewandowski will stay? I don't know of any rumors or interest, but thought Madrid might be looking to replace Benzema this summer.I mentioned before that I could see Carlo building the team around Lewa + Müller as a real 2 forward attack and might opt for a diamond in midfield to make it happen or at least some sort of 4 man midfield. It would mean that Alaba's role at leftback would also become a lot more influential, which I'd love to see. But there are still a few missing pieces or at least questionmarks about who would play the holding and attacking midfield roles.
There's also the possibility that Sanches won't be a regular starter next season anyway, but considering how much money we're willing to pay, he really should get lots of playing time.
Yeah man, like I said, I don't have the facts but it always feels that way. Whenever we're in for a player, we seem to pay quite a bit. It could obviously all be media driven bollocks as well. Like the intial Schweinsteiger fee - didn't most outlets in the UK say we paid 12-15m GBP, and in the end a German newspaper clarified that the fee was around 6?No you're right, they were talking about us having to pay £40 to £60 million for him. Yet he has gone for under £28 million. Same when we wanted Douglas they wanted us to pay £35 million but then they sold him to Schaktar for £12 million. Other teams take the piss
Thats what people on caf have been doing for a season almost.People throwing their toys out of the pram we didn't sign a player most have never seen play.
Bayern said they had been scouting him for quite a while.Isn't United linked to pretty much everyone all year long?
We had already scouted him 20 times before that.
Oh I know he isn't. It was the general opinion on here that he was.No he isn't my friend. Expensive, yes.
Yeah, that's fair enough. We like to steal your midfield targets. Though we were interested in Vidal way before you guys were and already had agreed on a contract with him back in 2011 when he moved to Juve because Leverkusen denied him the move to us. And Thiago simply couldn't resist once Pep called him, so it's probably more likely that we work more quietly behind the scenes while United's transfer dramas are more public. Which is really odd, because usually keeping things quiet isn't our strength at all, but at least in terms of transfers we managed to do that really well in recent years. Not with similar weight to this though, look at the length of the thread. Some of the biggest transfer saga's we've had in recent years are Thiago, Vidal and this kid and look where they all ended up! Fair play to you guys though.
I get your meaning. I just feel that if they are spending that much then the player should be expected to feature heavily in the first team from the off, and yet he won't really upgrade their midfield.
I'd let you have Alonso for free, but somehow I think he won't go to United because of his Liverpool past
