The R word..

I’m not seeing any significant improvements on the field and the players are lacking belief. Our forwards simply aren’t good enough and we look vulnerable at the back. If the keeper also loses confidence then we’re in the shit for the rest of the season. If we get less than 3 points over the next 3 games, then I think we’ll be in a relegation battle for the rest of the season, this is how these things work from my experiences because you end up in a downward spiral which is very hard to get out of no matter how good the players or coaches might be.
Or do you think I am over dramatizing things ?

We won’t get relegated because there are teams enough teams that are shitter than us.

Calm down dear.
We'll finish midtable or better if we buy well in January.

That’s not how it works though, on paper we might not be the worst, but if the pressure starts to get out of control then you end up in a downward spiral. I think realistically at the moment we’re more likely to relegate than even end up in the top half of the league. Our league form is very worrying.

It's not far-fetched at all. The club is a shambles on and off the pitch, with tin-pot clubs like Forest and Brentford appearing far better run. We have a squad that is sorely lacking in most areas: technical ability, athleticism and mental strength.

If we fail to beat Wolves and Southampton in our upcoming meetings with them more people will take this thread seriously. It's not that hard to see things spiralling.

Amorim thread out anytime now. This forum has gone to pots

We're slipping into midtable purgatory but this is just being silly. Any remote chance of something like this happening left with Ten Hag

10 points clear of 18th.

We won’t get relegated this season, stop being ridiculous.

I didn't think we'll get relegated, but we really do have a poor squad. Some of the players people think are our stars are actually some of our worst.

Our star players are meant to be Rashford, Garnacho, Bruno. I would say that none of these are good enough for top 4 clubs.

Bruno could be, but seems to have let the pressure get to him, maybe being captain of such a terrible side makes him feel like he has to constantly try weird stuff that never works.

Rashford and Garnacho seem to get a pass because they sometimes score goals, but this completely misses the point. That's the ONLY thing they do!

Neither can pass or create anything because they have very little footballing intelligence or creativity. Neither of them can cross, neither of them can tackle. I can't see where they fit in to this system at all.

Still a lot of games to go. Amorim will be sacked long before the highly unlikely stage that it gets that bad and be replaced by a manager who couldn't possibly be any worse. Shouldn't be a serious concern for anyone.

No of course not. I can see a 12th placed finish though.

Our last 38 games must be close to relegation form.

We're obviously not getting relegated but if we did, not sure it would be too bad. Complete reset, get used to winning again, get rid of the big earners etc

Lumping Garnacho in with the other two is wrong. He's just a young kid who has been put on a pedestal far too quickly. Seems to be a worrying trend at this club. Probably a causality of a lack of genuine star quality in our experienced players.

Bruno has been better than Rashford, who is quite frankly, a joke. Though in my view, neither should be at the club. The club shouldn't have signed Bruno up to a new deal and Rashford should have been dumped a good while ago (though ironically, he himself has gone through the full 'Garnacho process' himself).

Even at your worst you've taken 7 points from Leicester, Everton and Ipswich very recently.

Believe me from someone who supports a team that has been relegated from the premier league less than a decade ago you don't get relegated getting wins from other contenders.

That said I don't think Man. United are getting much past 50 points this season. You've still go to visit all of Man. City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle and trips to likes of Fulham and Bournemouth are very tough this season.

However just 4-5 more home wins will keep you up no problem so I think people at top clubs just underestimate how bad you actually have to get to be relegated.

I'm starting to think some posters have a relegation kink or a catastrophising issue. Probably set fire to the house if they spill a drink on the carpet instead of just cleaning it up.

We're never getting relegated. As bad as we are, there are enough shit teams below us. A better debate would be whether we'll finish top or bottom half. That's very much open to question at the moment.

I think there's arrogance in outright dismissing the possibility of relegation. Maybe Amorim gets his ideas across soon and we do turn a corner but right now we look to be in complete disarray.

No there’s common sense and rational thinking. It’s nothing to do with arrogance, some of us just aren’t as hysterical as the ones on here who bizarrely love to throw this daft notion around.

Definitely

Even if we didn't get another point this season we'd finish above Southampton. Another couple of wins puts us out of reach of Ipswich. And as bad as we might be, the likes of Leicester, Wolves and Everton aren't all suddenly going to become sides that can make up 5-10 points on us.

We are on 19 points. Southampton on 5, Ipswich and wolves on 9 each.
If you seriously think we can’t pick up enough wins to stay ahead of that pack then you need your head read
