When a contract has already been signed and we are just waiting to hear an announcement it doesn't take much IDK knowledge to be able to call that. By that point hundreds of people in the media, club press office, marketing, social media, sponsors, drivers and other random club staff will know.
Not hard for xsimon or anyone else who is trying hard enough to pick up a few random details.
But this Maguire thing shows he just read the sun and wanted to be one of the first to post the 'information'. Very typical attention seeking behaviour

If you have a genuine source who feeds you legit info on a regular basis, you don't share that info on Reddit for free.

He guessed the exact time, multiple times in a row. He likely knows feck all outside of that, nevermind our actual transfer plans, but those were clearly not just guesses, it would be too lucky. He probably knows someone working on the app or whatever, someone not that important or clued in.
You might be able to guess the day an announcement is made but you cant guess the day and time and it be a fluke. You cant also call the signing of AWB and 2 days later journalists all confirm the deal was indeed done 2 days ago

I guess he may have some connections in marketing or PR and finds out when deal is almost complete. Anyway, no point taking this too seriously either way. You can be fairly sure when someone posts up tweets like this that they are pontificating via their anal cavity. "A RW will be bought if there is time". There is absolutely no way that time is the finite resource which will dictate how many players will be bought - that makes no sense for a multi-billion pound organization like United. We can negotiate a few deals at once, innit.
