Thank you everybody who voted for The Shield. You are clearly well educated.

Group 1:
1. Star Trek DSN
2. Dark
3. South Park

Group 2:
1. The Wire
2. Parks and Rec
3. X Files

Easy groupings, rest of the shows are shite with the exception of Chernobyl. But don't think you can add such a short show against the other 3 titans.

Better Call Snore can go in the bin.

These Star Trek nerds need flushed

The IT Crowd already made a better version

Better Call Saul is not doing as well as I expected so far! It's probably in second place, but third place can't be far behind.

So have is it scored when people vote for only 1-4 options? If they vote for let's say 2 options, those are awarded 2 and 1 points? Because awarding 5 and 4 and 0 for the others wouldn't be very fair.

Has to be done this way I reckon. The rules are the same for each show so technically it's the fairest system. Unless someone thinks otherwise and can suggest something better. Once I tally up one round, I will need to stick to the rules so if there's a suggestion anyone wants to give, do it before this round is over.

I think it is the least fair system. And obviously increases tactical voting.

Do it 5,4 and 3 for the rest of the 3 not named. Or 2,1,0,0,0 same thing. Or 5,4,2,2,2 might make sense also

1. The Americans

1. The Wire
2. Chernobyl
3. Parks & Recs
4. X Files

yea, I know I put the x-files above two of those in my first list but who cares and it was a mistake.

The first list wasn't meant to be in a specific order tbf.

I mean if it is 5,4,0,0,0, then I would just change my vote to have one option in each group. From the pov of tactical voting, it would not make sense for me to name other 4 at all.

I think 5,4,3,3,3, or 5,4,2,2,2 are the only reasonable options. Latter because (3+2+1)/3=2

I knew (afterwards) - but didn‘t put them in at all. Just realised it‘s more about nostalgia with that show (x-files) with me. Just wanted to clear this up before somebody calls me an eediot.

@massi83 I didn't even consider tactical voting as this is purely for fun but I see what you're saying.

I'm leaning to averaging out the non voted shows, so in the example below, it would be:

1. The Wire 5
2. Chernobyl 4
3. X-Files 3

- Parks & Recreation 2
- Better Call Saul 2

I'll see what others suggest/if anyone has issues with that... but this is probably a good compromise.

This is

A. RedCafe
B. People's opinions about shows dear to them.

There will be tactical voting

Yup. Average in this case would be 1,5 for the last 2 though.

So, only 1 option voted: 5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5
Only 2 options voted: 5,4,2,2,2
Only 3 options voted: 5,4,3, 1.5, 1.5
Only 4 options voted: 5,4,3,2,1

But you can round them if it is easier, close enough.

That seems fine to me. Could also be 1 point instead of 2 in that example. Just to avoid the more niche shows sweeping up plenty of points by the ones who haven't seen it and getting top scores from the ones who voted the show through.

Even discounting tactical voting, there are bound to be some posters who don't know that they are allowed to leave blank spaces but would have done so if they knew it.

I didn't know omitting shows was allowed. Can I simply edit my list or what's the procedure?

I also think that it would be wildly unfair if, for example, philistine nerds with nothing but Star Trek on their list drag down all the other shows in the group with 0 points, while others try to rank all of them and as a result impair their top votes.

Don't want to do half points so I think 2 for non-voted shows makes sense in any iteration of rankings bar someone ranking 4 shows, in which case, the non-ranked show gets 1.

Whatever way I do it, people can always tactically vote but they'd have to be tallying the votes in other to do it accurately... In which case, PM me the tallies so I can chill on Monday morning

No I have mentioned above how I can try get round this. It's not a perfect solution but I can't think of anything fairer.

But yeah, no point voting for a show of you haven't seen it. I can't separate Star Trek from The Americans because I've seen neither.

I hoped people would just be honest with their voting but this doesn't seem the case

So anything that doesn't get a vote automatically gets 2 points (unless it's in a list that the other 4 shows get votes, then it will get 1 point).

You can just edit your vote as I haven't started tallying yet.

Yeah, close enough and easiest.

Screw the ones people dont vote for.

Zero the feckers

Or split the difference and just give 1 point to any that dont get votes
That was the original plan but I don't want a thread full of complaining.

Like I said earlier, I didn't consider tactical voting and thought people will just be honest. I'm an idiot
