Redcafe Snooker

Still reckon Carter has a good chance tomorrow, given that he 'only' needs to win 4 of the next 9 frames. Ronnie has been so hot and cold this week that you can easily see him coughing up a couple without much of a struggle. But if Carter does lose, it'll be those last few frames. He had his foot on Ronnie's throat and he stepped back.

Ronnie looking good in this frame.

“John Higgins is a grade a burglar in the snooker world”

Perhaps not the best turn of phrases all things considered.

What happened?

Haven't seen it actually, heard it's something like that. :D

Watching Ronnie this tournament would give you real doubts about him winning another Worlds. I think the two week long slug fest doesn’t really play into his strengths any more.

Nothing but respect for Ali Carter to battle back from serious illness to playing at the top level again is simply brilliant.. but, the world championship isn’t quite the same without Ronnie who excites like no one else does. Fair play to Ali but he won’t go on to win it, this is as good as it gets for him.

Gutted Ronnie's out.

Carter's reaction a bit over the top:lol: but he bloody deserved to win. Ronnie completely out of sorts.

Haven't seen Ding all tournament, so hoping he's still around.

Well, he is a double finalist, only stopped then by...O'Sullivan.

But I feel he won't go that far again as well.

He is but I’ve never thought he was good enough to be crowned world champion. Even this match, he has produced his best performance of his career but let’s not kid ourselves, he was helped by a massively out of sorts Ronnie. Again, I have nothing but respect for after overcoming so much but in a way, it’s a bad thing for the tournament that first Selby and now Ronnie are out.

From here I can only see Higgins grinding everyone else into the dust.

Don't say that. My £10 bet at 25-1 is still on  Mark Allen for 2018 World Champ!

(I think you're right).

You're not giving him a lot of credit here. As if Ronnie just gifted him the match. An "out of sorts" Ronnie is still a very strong opponent. Carter produced some good snooker that would've won the match against most opponents I feel. It doesn't need the asterisk of "but he was helped by an out of sorts Ronnie".

I’ve acknowledged he played some great snooker, some attacking snooker but he was aided by Ronnie playing poorly, like he did vs Maguire who he still beat but you can’t always play badly and win.

One of the shit players will win it this year I guess
It's odd as the standard is so high now that you would think it would be more entertaining or at the very least there would be more flair attacking players, yet it's the opposite it's full of dull 7/10s

Formidable stuff from Ding at 7-0 but I get the feeling he’ll somehow manage to be crap in the next round.

If he carries on in anything like this form, though, he’s unbeatable.

Why not Ding? He's perhaps not had his best season but he looks in fine form here. Let's not forget he made the final and semi-final in his last two visits here and was only beaten by the best player in the world, who's no longer in the tournament. He showed more mental strength in those previous two world championships, which was the only thing missing from his game.

I really like Ding and hope he wins it this year. Can't think of a player who deserves one more than him. He's easily my second favourite player to watch when on form, only beaten by O'Sullivan.

Judd Trump’s hair is struggling under the lights.

This Williams Milkins match:boring:

The balls were awful at the start of the frame, black out of play, blue above balk and most of the reds in way of each other. Can’t blame either player for the way it’s gone, they’ve both been fairly attacking in their safety to be fair to them although that’s easier to do when the best either player can do is a 30 or a 40 if they do get in.

This frame has re-rack written all over it.

Crazy frame

:lol:Would've been interesting if Walden had knocked the black in, but making a break with the reds like that would be a nightmare.
